General Warnings & Safety

WARNING: Proper use is required! Failure to follow instructions and labels can result in serious injury or death. Always read this manual and your vehicle's owner's manual. Never use accessories or parts not provided by Baby Trend. Replace the car seat after any crash, even a minor one. Do not use if damaged or missing parts.

Your child's safety depends on proper installation and use. Ensure the harness straps are snug and at or just below shoulder level. The car seat is for rear-facing use only. Always secure the car seat tightly with the vehicle's seat belt or LATCH system.

Recline Angle: Proper recline is crucial. Use the Seat Angle Indicator to ensure the correct angle for your child's weight to prevent head falling forward (restricting breathing) or ejection.

Registration Information

Register your car seat to be notified of recalls. Complete the information (Model Number, Manufactured Date, Purchase Date) and mail the prepaid card. Features and Benefits

Carrier Features: Includes a harness system, adjustable back (on some models), seat pad, carry handle, canopy, harness adjuster button, and locking clip. The carry handle has four positions: Carry, Mid-Storage, Storage, and Non-Rocking.

Base Features: The base is used for vehicle installation and includes LATCH connectors, a foot adjustment lock button, and a seat angle indicator.

Harness System: A front-adjust 5-point safety harness with adjustable straps and a crotch strap for a secure fit. A locking clip is provided for use with certain vehicle seat belts.

Seat Angle Indicator: A visual guide on the car seat base to ensure the correct recline angle for infants.

Height and Weight Limitations

For use with children weighing between 4 and 32 lbs (1.82 - 14.5 kg) and measuring 32 inches (81.3 cm) or less. Harness straps must be at or just below the child's shoulders.

Small Infant Insert: Use only if child's shoulders are below the lowest harness slot, and for children weighing less than 8 lbs. Do not use if child's shoulders are even or above the lowest slot, or if weight exceeds 8 lbs. For children weighing less than 5 lbs, the insert is required.

Important Safety Information

General Warnings: Never leave a child unattended. Avoid suffocation hazards by not placing the carrier on soft surfaces. Prevent strangulation by ensuring harness straps are snug and not loose. Prevent fall hazards by not placing the carrier on elevated surfaces. Ensure the carry handle is locked before lifting.

Vehicle Seat Belt Requirements: The car seat must be tightly secured by the vehicle seat belt at all times. Not all seat belt systems are safe for use with this car seat. Consult your vehicle owner's manual. Use only SAFE vehicle seat belt systems as described in Section 9.1.

Unsafe Seat Belt Systems: Avoid lap belts with emergency locking retractors (ELR), passive restraints mounted on doors, and seat belts anchored too far forward. LATCH can be used instead of these unsafe systems.

Car Seat Care: Clean plastic and metal components with mild soap and cold water. Wipe buckles and LATCH connectors with a damp cloth only. Do not use lubricants. Spot clean harness straps with a damp cloth; do not immerse in water.

Selecting a Vehicle Seat Location

Children are safest in rear seating positions. The rear center position is recommended when possible. Avoid seating positions with active frontal airbags. Ensure the vehicle seat back is secure and does not fold forward. Consult your vehicle owner's manual for specific location guidance.

Securing Car Seat in Your Vehicle

Installation Methods: The car seat can be installed using the LATCH attachment system or a vehicle seat belt. LATCH is the recommended method when available.

Preparation: Park on a level surface. Check for active frontal airbags. Remove toys from the carry handle. Select an appropriate vehicle seat location.

Base Installation with LATCH: Secure LATCH connectors to vehicle lower anchorages. Ensure the LATCH lower anchor belt is tightly adjusted and stays tight. Push down on the base while pulling upwards on the LATCH belt to tighten.

Base Installation with Vehicle Belt: Route the vehicle lap/shoulder belt through the belt path openings, buckle the belt, and tighten securely. Ensure the belt remains tight.

Attaching Car Seat to Base: Place the car seat onto the base and push down until it clicks securely. Pull upward to confirm it is locked. Check the seat recline angle.

Car Seat Only Installation (without Base): Secure the car seat directly using the vehicle seat belt, ensuring it is routed correctly and tightly adjusted. Follow recline angle instructions.

Harness System Use and Adjustment

Securing Your Child: Adjust harness straps snugly around the child. Ensure shoulder straps are at or just below the child's shoulders. Do not use bulky clothing that hinders the harness fit. The harness clip should be positioned at the middle of the chest.

Adjusting Harness Strap Height: For adjustable back seats, rotate the knob to adjust height. For fixed back seats, select the appropriate harness slots that align with or are just below the child's shoulders.

Adjusting Crotch Strap Length: Ensure a gap of 1/2" to 1" between the buckle ears and the child's thigh. Adjust by wrapping or unwrapping strap material around the metal clip.

Final Safety Checks

Verify harness fit and snugness. Ensure LATCH or seat belt is tightly secured. Remove toys from carry handle. Adjust carry handle to storage position.

Additional Information

Care & Maintenance: Clean with mild soap and cold water. Wipe connectors with a damp cloth. Spot clean harness straps. Do not immerse straps in water.

Seat Pad/Head Support: Follow fabric tag instructions for care. Instructions are provided for removal and installation.

Stroller Use: Refer to the stroller owner's manual for compatibility.

Airplane Use: Certified for aircraft use WITHOUT the base. Follow automobile installation procedures for forward-facing airplane seats. Check with the airline for policies.

Pool Noodle/Towel Use: Use to achieve proper seat recline if needed. Follow installation steps after placing noodle/towel.

Warranty
