Soundbar Components
Remote Control
Connecting the Soundbar
Look at the back of your sound source device (TV, DVD/Blu-ray player, cable box) to identify your audio OUT ports. Choose one connection option. Note: Turn off all devices while making connections.
Connection Options
Digital Connection (BEST)
- Connect one end of the digital optical cable (not included) to the [optical-jack] on your soundbar.
- Connect the other end into the Digital Optical Output port on your audio source device.
- Change the device's audio output to PCM format (refer to device documentation).
- Press [source-select] repeatedly until the source indicator turns ? Green.
RCA Connection (GOOD)
- Connect the red and white RCA connectors on the RCA audio cable (included) to the [aux-in-jacks] on your soundbar.
- Connect the other end into the RCA audio OUTPUT ports on your audio source device.
- Press [source-select] repeatedly until the source indicator turns ? Yellow.
3.5 mm Connection (GOOD)
- Connect the red and white RCA connectors on the RCA audio cable to the [aux-in-jacks] on your soundbar, then connect the other end jacks on the 3.5 mm to RCA cable adapter (included).
- Connect the other end of the adapter to the headphone or AUX Output on your audio source device.
- Press [source-select] repeatedly until the source indicator turns ? Yellow.
Connecting the AC Adapter
Cautions:
- Ensure the electrical outlet matches the AC adapter's input requirements (100-240 V, 50/60 Hz).
- Use only the provided AC adapter.
- Plug in the AC adapter only after all other connections have been made.
- Connect the AC adapter to the [dc-in-jack] on the back of the soundbar.
- Plug the other end of the AC adapter into a power outlet or surge protector.
USB Connection
Note: If your soundbar is wall-mounted, you cannot connect a USB thumbdrive as a sound source.
- Plug a USB thumbdrive (with WAV files) into the [usb-port] on the back of your soundbar.
- Plug in your soundbar, then turn it on.
- Press [source-select] repeatedly until the source indicator turns ? Purple.
- Control USB playback by pressing the [previous], [play/pause], and [next] buttons on the remote control.
Note: If playback does not begin immediately, press the [play/pause] button on the remote control.
Connecting Your Soundbar Using Bluetooth (Optional)
Pairing Your Devices
- Turn on your soundbar.
- Place your Bluetooth device within 30 ft. (10 m) of your soundbar.
- Press the [bluetooth] button on the soundbar or remote control. The LED blinks ? Blue.
- On your device, turn on Bluetooth and search for available devices.
- Select "NS-HMSB20" from the device list. Repeat steps 1-4 if NS-HMSB20 is not displayed.
- If a PIN code is requested, enter 0000.
- When pairing is completed, the LED lights solid ? Blue.
Notes:
- Some devices connect automatically after pairing.
- The soundbar automatically connects to the last connected device if it is in range.
- Incoming calls on a phone will pause music playback.
- Music may resume playback automatically when the call ends.
Disconnecting Your Devices
Turn off the Bluetooth function on your device or press and hold the [bluetooth] button on the remote control.

Using Your Soundbar
Using the Remote Control
- Install 2 AAA batteries into the battery compartment before using the remote control for the first time.
- Point the remote control directly at the [remote-sensor] on the front of the soundbar. You must be within approximately 26 ft. (8 m) of your soundbar.
Listening to Your Soundbar
- Press the [power] button on your soundbar or remote control. The power indicator turns off, and the source indicator lights.
- Turn on the audio source device connected to your soundbar and begin playback.
- Press [source-select] repeatedly until you hear sound from your soundbar.
- Note: If using the OPTICAL connection, ensure your device's audio output is set to PCM format.
- Adjust the volume on your soundbar or the audio source device to a comfortable level. ⚠️ Warning: Continuous use of high volume sound may permanently damage your hearing.
- Press the [power] button to turn off your soundbar. The power indicator lights ? Red.
Sound Modes
Press the [sound-mode] buttons to select the desired mode. The status indicator blinks white three times when activated.
- STANDARD: For general music or TV shows.
- THEATER: Optimize movie sound for a theater setting.
- NEWS: Optimize spoken voice or dialog for TV news and more.
Mounting Your Soundbar
If you want to mount your soundbar below a wall-mounted flat screen TV, purchase a soundbar mounting kit and follow the instructions provided.
