Soundbar Components

1 Speaker: Left and right speakers. 2 Status indicator: Different color LEDs indicate status: ? Red - Standby mode, ? Green - Digital optical, ? Blue - Bluetooth, ? Yellow - AUX IN, ? Purple - USB. 3 Remote control sensor: Detects signals from the remote control. 4 [power] button: Press to turn on the soundbar, press again to return to standby mode. 5 [volume-up] / [volume-down] Buttons: Press to increase or decrease the volume. 6 [source-select] button: Press to cycle through available sound sources. 7 [aux-in-jacks]: Connect an RCA audio cable (included) here. 8 [usb-port]: Play WAV files from a USB source. 9 [optical-jack]: Connect a digital optical cable (not included) here if your source device has an Optical OUT jack. Ensure source audio is set to PCM format. 10 [dc-in-jack]: Connect the AC power adapter here.

Remote Control

11 [power] button: Press to turn on your soundbar or put it into standby mode. 12 [volume-up] / [volume-down]: Press to increase or decrease volume. 13 [source-select]: Press repeatedly to cycle through available sound sources. 14 [sound-mode] buttons: Press to select sound mode (STANDARD, THEATER, NEWS). Status indicator blinks white three times when activated. 15 [mute]: Press to mute soundbar. Press again to restore sound. 16 [bluetooth] / [usb] buttons: Control playback for Bluetooth or USB sources with [previous], [play/pause], [next] buttons. 17 [bluetooth]: Press to enter Bluetooth mode. [pair] button: Press and hold for three seconds to disconnect Bluetooth.

Connecting the Soundbar

Look at the back of your sound source device (TV, DVD/Blu-ray player, cable box) to identify your audio OUT ports. Choose one connection option. Note: Turn off all devices while making connections.

Connection Options

Digital Connection (BEST)

  1. Connect one end of the digital optical cable (not included) to the [optical-jack] on your soundbar.
  2. Connect the other end into the Digital Optical Output port on your audio source device.
  3. Change the device's audio output to PCM format (refer to device documentation).
  4. Press [source-select] repeatedly until the source indicator turns ? Green.

RCA Connection (GOOD)

  1. Connect the red and white RCA connectors on the RCA audio cable (included) to the [aux-in-jacks] on your soundbar.
  2. Connect the other end into the RCA audio OUTPUT ports on your audio source device.
  3. Press [source-select] repeatedly until the source indicator turns ? Yellow.

3.5 mm Connection (GOOD)

  1. Connect the red and white RCA connectors on the RCA audio cable to the [aux-in-jacks] on your soundbar, then connect the other end jacks on the 3.5 mm to RCA cable adapter (included).
  2. Connect the other end of the adapter to the headphone or AUX Output on your audio source device.
  3. Press [source-select] repeatedly until the source indicator turns ? Yellow.

Connecting the AC Adapter

Cautions:

  1. Connect the AC adapter to the [dc-in-jack] on the back of the soundbar.
  2. Plug the other end of the AC adapter into a power outlet or surge protector.

USB Connection

Note: If your soundbar is wall-mounted, you cannot connect a USB thumbdrive as a sound source.

  1. Plug a USB thumbdrive (with WAV files) into the [usb-port] on the back of your soundbar.
  2. Plug in your soundbar, then turn it on.
  3. Press [source-select] repeatedly until the source indicator turns ? Purple.
  4. Control USB playback by pressing the [previous], [play/pause], and [next] buttons on the remote control.

Note: If playback does not begin immediately, press the [play/pause] button on the remote control.

Connecting Your Soundbar Using Bluetooth (Optional)

Pairing Your Devices

  1. Turn on your soundbar.
  2. Place your Bluetooth device within 30 ft. (10 m) of your soundbar.
  3. Press the [bluetooth] button on the soundbar or remote control. The LED blinks ? Blue.
  4. On your device, turn on Bluetooth and search for available devices.
  5. Select "NS-HMSB20" from the device list. Repeat steps 1-4 if NS-HMSB20 is not displayed.
  6. If a PIN code is requested, enter 0000.
  7. When pairing is completed, the LED lights solid ? Blue.

Notes:

Disconnecting Your Devices

Turn off the Bluetooth function on your device or press and hold the [bluetooth] button on the remote control.

Using Your Soundbar

Using the Remote Control

  1. Install 2 AAA batteries into the battery compartment before using the remote control for the first time.
  2. Point the remote control directly at the [remote-sensor] on the front of the soundbar. You must be within approximately 26 ft. (8 m) of your soundbar.

Listening to Your Soundbar

  1. Press the [power] button on your soundbar or remote control. The power indicator turns off, and the source indicator lights.
  2. Turn on the audio source device connected to your soundbar and begin playback.
  3. Press [source-select] repeatedly until you hear sound from your soundbar.
  4. Note: If using the OPTICAL connection, ensure your device's audio output is set to PCM format.
  5. Adjust the volume on your soundbar or the audio source device to a comfortable level. ⚠️ Warning: Continuous use of high volume sound may permanently damage your hearing.
  6. Press the [power] button to turn off your soundbar. The power indicator lights ? Red.

Sound Modes

Press the [sound-mode] buttons to select the desired mode. The status indicator blinks white three times when activated.

Mounting Your Soundbar

If you want to mount your soundbar below a wall-mounted flat screen TV, purchase a soundbar mounting kit and follow the instructions provided.

PROBLEM POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS
The power does not come on.
  • Make sure that the AC power adapter is securely plugged into the power outlet and the soundbar.
  • Make sure that the soundbar is turned on. It does not turn on automatically when you turn on your TV or other sound source.
The remote control does not work.
  • Remove any obstacles between the remote control and the IR sensor on the soundbar.
  • The remote control batteries may be exhausted; replace them.
  • Move closer to the soundbar. The remote control is effective up to approximately 26 ft. (8 m) and within a 30° angle.
The sound is breaking up or buzzing.
  • Ensure you are connected to an audio OUT jack on your sound source, not an INPUT jack.
  • Ensure all connections are secure and cables are not broken or damaged.
  • If using the OPTICAL connection, ensure the source device's audio output is set to "PCM" format.
  • Try a different source device to see if the buzzing still occurs.
  • Try a different connection method (e.g., Optical instead of AUX IN) to ensure jacks are working.
  • Try a different audio cable.
I can hear sound from both my TV and my soundbar. Turn off or mute the internal speakers of your TV. Refer to your TV's manual for instructions.
There is no sound or very low sound.
  • Ensure you are connected to an audio OUT jack, not an INPUT jack.
  • Ensure the soundbar volume is set to an adequate level.
  • If using Bluetooth, turn up the volume on your Bluetooth device.
  • If using Bluetooth, ensure your Bluetooth device is not paired with another device.
  • Ensure the volume level is not muted. Press the [mute] button again to restore sound.
  • Ensure the correct audio source is selected. Press [source-select] repeatedly.
My TV remote does not control my soundbar.
  • Universal remotes may only control volume. Use soundbar/remote controls for source/mode.
  • Make sure you aim your universal remote at the soundbar's remote sensor.
  • Make sure you select the correct source on your universal remote.
There is no sound or low volume in Bluetooth mode.
  • Ensure your Bluetooth device is on and "NS-HMSB20" is selected.
  • Turn up the soundbar volume.
  • Turn up the Bluetooth device volume.
  • Ensure your Bluetooth device is not muted.
  • Ensure music is playing on your Bluetooth device.
  • Ensure the Bluetooth source is selected on the soundbar.
  • Ensure your soundbar is not paired to another Bluetooth device.
My soundbar won't connect to my Bluetooth device.
  • Ensure your Bluetooth device is not paired to a different Bluetooth speaker or other device.
  • Shorten the distance between your soundbar and your Bluetooth device.
  • Turn devices off, then on, and re-pair your soundbar and Bluetooth device.
  • Ensure your soundbar is not paired to another Bluetooth device.
  • Ensure your soundbar and Bluetooth device are both in pairing mode.
  • Ensure your Bluetooth device is not paired to any other device.
  • Ensure "NS-HMSB20" is selected on your Bluetooth device.
My Bluetooth device keeps unpairing.
  • Shorten the distance between your soundbar and your Bluetooth device.
  • If the battery on your Bluetooth device is low, recharge it.
"NS-HMSB20" does not appear on my Bluetooth device.
  • Shorten the distance between your soundbar and your Bluetooth device.
  • Put your soundbar into pairing mode, then refresh your list of Bluetooth devices.
  • Ensure your Bluetooth device is visible to other devices.
The sound is lagging or I hear an echo. Turn off or mute the internal speakers of your TV. Refer to your TV's manual for instructions.
