IKEA x Off-White: The MARKERAD Limited Edition Series

Art can be more than just a collectible; it can transform into practical furniture and home decor, adding personality and charm to your living space. Following the successful launch of the "KEEP OFF" rug in May, IKEA and Off-White founder and designer Virgil Abloh present the "MARKERAD" collection. This comprehensive collaboration features 15 limited-edition furniture and decor items, including shopping bags, sofa beds, storage cabinets, textiles, toolkits, mirrors, clocks, and lamps.

The purchase of these collaborative products requires online registration for a lottery. Registration opens on November 1st at 2:00 PM. Winners will need to complete their purchase at a physical store. For detailed purchasing procedures, please refer to the event webpage: https://reurl.cc/qDVvpy.

Why collaborate with Off-White? IKEA's Creative Leader for MARKERAD, Henrik Most, stated that IKEA always aims to spark new ideas through collaborations with creators. He believes that trendy art should not be distant or unattainable, but rather accessible. This collaboration aims to spread art within a more familiar context, allowing everyone to enjoy these creative and beautiful art pieces without a high cost.

The original concept for the MARKERAD series was to address the basic living needs of millennials leaving home for the first time. While functionality is fundamental, the goal was to add emotional value and connection to the products. Virgil Abloh explained, "The spirit of this collection is to add an artistic touch to understated, everyday objects. You can hang art on the wall, or bring that artistic vibe to chairs, tables, and rugs. The key is to highlight the subtle, often overlooked everyday symbols." For example, adding a doorstop to one of the legs of a standard dining chair creates a distinctly different piece.

IKEA x Off-White "MARKERAD" Collection Launch in Taiwan

The entire MARKERAD series will be available in limited quantities in Taiwan. Online registration for the lottery begins on November 1st. The collection includes pieces designed by Virgil Abloh, featuring his signature "quotes" and production year markings. These elements add an artistic touch to simple items and convey subtle messages with a hint of irony and humor.

The iconic FRAKTA shopping bag, known for its distinctive "look," was reinterpreted by Virgil Abloh as a sculpture. The IKEA MARKERAD shopping bag retains the classic FRAKTA silhouette but is reimagined in a soft, durable recycled paper material, embodying both environmental consciousness and design innovation, aligning with IKEA's commitment to sustainability.

A standout piece is the oversized IKEA receipt rug. Inspired by the IKEA receipt itself, which Virgil Abloh considers a trademark, the rug features a realistic, life-size replica of the receipt, turning a brand element into a contemporary art piece. It serves as a striking floor covering or wall hanging, embodying the story IKEA represents.
