This product must be installed and maintained by competent and authorised personnel only. Strict observance of any relevant standards and legal requirements is mandatory. The technical specifications on the switch label must not be exceeded.

Step 1: Switch off inverter and battery

Ensure the inverter and battery are switched off before proceeding with the installation.

1. Turn the main switch to the 'OFF' position.

2. Ensure the battery is disconnected or in the 'OFF' state.

Step 2: System overview / Installation / AC Connection

Consult your grid operator for the required connection variant.

Connection Variants:

AC Connection Details:

For consumers in grid operation and backup operation:

AC Connection cross-section: Solid or stranded 6-16 mm²; Fine or stranded with ferrule 4-16 mm².

Check tightening torque of 1.8 Nm.

Description: Consumers in the backup mode branch are disconnected from the public grid. Consumers in the grid operation branch remain connected to the public grid.

For consumers in grid operation:

Wiring Specifications:

Max. 400 V / 63 A

AC Connection cross-section:

Anzugsdrehmoment (Tightening torque): 1.8 Nm

Step 3: Open inverter

Follow the visual guide to open the inverter.

Step 4: Connecting the BackUp Switch signal line

Connect the signal line to the designated port (X402) on the inverter.

Step 5: Close inverter

Securely close the inverter after making the connections.

Step 6: Switch on inverter

Turn the inverter and battery switches to the 'ON' position.

Step 7: Activate BackUp Switch in the inverter

After installation, the KOSTAL BackUp Switch must be added to the system via the 'Change operating mode' function within the inverter's service menu. This operation can only be performed by an installer.

Procedure: Navigate through the inverter's service menu to 'Operating mode' and select 'Change operating mode'.
