Product Overview

The Bosch Buderus SSB Series (SSB800, SSB1000, SSB1000TL) Gen 2 are stainless steel condensing hot water boilers designed for direct venting. They are suitable for large residential, commercial, and light industrial applications.

Engineering Specifications

The boilers are factory set for Natural Gas but field convertible to LP Gas using a supplied kit.

Safety features include Low and High gas pressure switches with manual resets per ASME CSD-1 requirements.

Vent configurations can be twin-pipe, concentric, or single-pipe for vertical or horizontal termination.

Installation requires adherence to water quality standards outlined in the boiler installation manual.

Boilers function directly with hydronic emitters and can be controlled via "dry" closure contacts (e.g., relay, BMS system).

An optional outdoor air temperature sensor can be used to control supply water temperature for increased fuel efficiency.

The on-board 7" color touch-screen allows for multiple heating configurations, including set point operation, outdoor reset (demand signal, full outdoor reset with constant circulation), permanent heat demand, and analog 0-10 Vdc (4-20 mA) setpoint control.

Domestic hot water heating parameters are available, supporting indirect tank control via a 10k ohm NTC thermistor or field-supplied aquastat.

Hydraulic manifold piping (water, gas, exhaust/air) is factory installed and self-contained within the outer cabinet. External connections can be made on either the left or right side for installation flexibility.

The SSB series can be installed in combinations of 2, 3, or 4 TL modules, supporting turndown ratios of 20:1, 30:1, and 40:1 respectively. Up to 4 boilers can be interconnected using provided flanged connections, with manifold piping engineered to accommodate these requirements.

Each module is equipped with a multi-speed circulator pump.

Performance Curves

Thermal Efficiency Curves

The thermal efficiency curves illustrate the relationship between thermal efficiency and return water temperature for the SSB800, SSB1000, and SSB1000TL boilers at different input levels (100%, 30%, and 20%). Generally, thermal efficiency decreases as the return water temperature increases, with a 36°F (20°C) temperature rise.

Water Pressure Drop Curves

The water pressure drop curves show the pressure loss across the boiler as a function of flow rate (GPM/LPM) for each model (SSB800, SSB1000, SSB1000TL). These curves are important for system design and pump selection. The curves indicate that pressure drop increases significantly with higher flow rates.
