The Chest Heart Rate Monitor
How to Put On the Heart Rate Monitor:
The monitor consists of a chest strap and a sensor. Insert the strap tab into the sensor hole, ensuring it is flush. Wrap the strap tightly around the chest, below the bust line, with the sensor logo facing up. Adjust for a snug fit.
Wet the two electrode areas on the sensor with saline solution, saliva, or contact lens solution before placing it against the chest.
Care and Maintenance:
- Dry the sensor with a soft towel after each use.
- Store in a warm, dry place, not in a plastic bag.
- Avoid direct sunlight and temperatures above 122°F (50°C) or below 14°F (-10°C).
- Do not excessively bend or stretch the sensor.
- Clean the sensor with a damp cloth and mild soap; dry thoroughly. Never use alcohol, abrasives, or chemicals. Hand wash and air dry the chest strap.
Troubleshooting:
- Ensure the monitor is worn correctly.
- Rewet electrode areas if readings only appear after perspiring.
- Be within arm's length of the console for readings.
- Replace the sensor battery if applicable.
- Heart rate monitor performance can be affected by medical conditions or magnetic interference.
How to Use the Elliptical
How to Plug in the Power Cord:
Danger: Improper connection increases the risk of electric shock. Do not modify the plug. Ensure the outlet is properly installed and grounded. Use a qualified electrician if unsure.
Plug the power cord into a grounded 120-volt outlet. A temporary adapter may be used for 2-pole receptacles, but must be connected to a proper ground via a metal screw to the outlet box cover. Consult an electrician before using an adapter.
How to Move the Elliptical:
Requires two people. Stand in front, hold the upright, place a foot against a wheel. Pull the upright while a second person lifts the rear stabilizer so the elliptical rolls on its wheels. Move to the desired location and lower it.
How to Adjust the Positions of the Pedals:
Pull the pedal handle outward, move the pedal to the desired position, and release the handle into an adjustment hole. Adjust both pedals to the same position.
How to Exercise on the Elliptical:
Mount by holding handlebars/arms and stepping onto the lower pedal, then the other. Pedal until motion is continuous. Pedals can turn in either direction; forward motion is recommended for consistency.
To dismount, wait for pedals to stop. Step off the higher pedal first, then the lower pedal.
How to Level the Elliptical:
If the elliptical rocks, turn the leveling feet beneath the rear stabilizer until the rocking motion is eliminated.
