Precautions Before Operation

The transmitter and receiver of this device are powered by lithium polymer batteries.
Please do not place the device in a location that is dusty, humid, or hot (above 40°C).
Please do not disassemble the device. Repair and maintenance should be done by a professional staff.
When not using the device for a long time, please remove the battery to prevent the battery liquid from leaking out.
Please do not perform related operations on the communication line during thunderstorms to prevent lightning strikes and personal safety.

Product Button and Interface Description
The NF-8508 is an Optical wire meter tracer for home and public facility network cable repair.
Its main functions include: Optical power meter & VFL function; Tracing cable location; Test cable continuity; Measuring cable length; PoE test; Port flash function; Crimping test for crystal head, and so on. It has two modes for options to trace cable: anti-jamming & normal mode.
Transmitter Interface
Buttons/Ports: OPM, SCAN, VFL, Lamp, Anti-jamming probe, Power, Scan, NCV, SEN, USB Type-C, CONT, FLASH, PoE, Length/Flash/PoE, QC/Test, Earphone, Confirm, OK, Up, Down, Back.
Indicators: Scan mode toggle key, NCV toggle key, Lamp, Power.
Connectors: USB Type-C, RJ45.
Receiver Interface
Buttons/Ports: Power, Scan, NCV, Lamp, SEN, USB Type-C.
Indicators: Scan indicator (red/flashing red), NCV indicator (green), Power indicator (red during charging, off when fully charged).
Icons
Auto power off icon: Displayed when auto power off is active; not displayed when inactive.
Power display icon: Shows current power and charging status. Green indicates charging; white indicates non-charging.
Function Icons: CONT [continuity icon], SCAN [scan icon], FLASH [flash icon], PoE [PoE icon], OPM [optical power meter icon], VFL [VFL icon], LENGTH [length icon], QC Test [QC test icon], Set [settings icon].
Product Function Instructions
Transmitter Functions
1. Continuity Testing
Select the [CONT icon] in the main menu and press the [OK button]. The screen shows cable types. Press "Confirm to test". A triangle indicates the insertion position.
Pressing the [OK button] again shows "Testing..". Pressing the [OK button] again retests. Pressing the [return button] returns to the main menu.
Test Results: Displays connection status for pins 1-8. Results shown as: Shorted, Broken, Cross, Good Condition.
2. SCAN
Select the [SCAN icon] in the main menu and press the [OK button] to enter SCAN Function.
Options: "Digital Model" and "Analog Mode". Use [up/down arrows] to choose mode. A triangle arrow indicates the current function and insertion position.
Press [OK button] or [return button] to return to the main menu.
Modes: AC filter mode / Analog mode, up to 300m.
3. Flash
Select the [FLASH icon] in the main menu and press the [OK button] to enter the port flashing function.
Screen displays "Link test..". A triangle arrow indicates the insertion position.
Test Results: "Time out" (if failed, possibly due to improper connection); or specific switch information (FDX/HDX, Protocol) if successful.
Both ports' lights flash synchronously with the screen circle indicator.
Application: Hub blink for locating network ports on Hub/Switch (10M/100M/1000M).
4. Length
Select the [LENGTH icon] in the main menu and press the [OK button] to enter the length test function.
Cable Type: Press [OK button] to switch between CAT5 and CAT6.
Unit Selection: Use [up/down arrows] to select units (m/yard/feet), press [OK button] to switch.
A triangle arrow indicates the insertion position. Abnormally short cables are indicated by a red line pattern.
Measurable Lengths: Accurately measures CAT5/CAT6 cable length in the range of 2.5~200m.
Screen Display Examples: Shows cable type, unit, and test status. Indicates "Cable is normal" or "Short line" for specific pairs.
5. PoE Test
Select the [PoE icon] in the main menu and press the [OK button] to enter the PoE function test.
A triangle arrow indicates the insertion position. Press the [return button] to return to the main menu.
Data updates automatically when plugging/unplugging cables from the switch.
Displays:
1. PoE Standard: Non-standard / IEEE 802.3af / IEEE 802.3at.
2. Jumper Method: End connection method / Middle jumper method / Powered by 8 cores.
3. Polarity & Voltage: Positive/negative and voltage of the PoE switch.
Example Displays: Shows voltage readings per pin pair for different standards (IEEE 802.3af) and connection types (4-Pairs Endspan, Midspan).
Function: Identifies pins providing power, detects voltage, and identifies PSE type (at/af standard).
6. QC Testing for Crystal Head
Select the [QC Test icon] in the main menu and press the [OK button] to enter the crimping test function.
A triangle arrow indicates the insertion position. Press the [return button] to return to the main menu.
Results: ✅ indicates the channel is normal; ❌ indicates the channel is abnormal.
7. Optical Power Meter
Select the [OPM icon] in the main menu and press the [OK button] to enter the optical power meter function.
A triangle arrow indicates the insertion position. Data updates in real-time. Press the [return button] to return to the main menu.
Functionality: Tests optical power and light attenuation value.
Controls:
1. Unit Switching: Press [up/down arrows] to select "unit" item, press [OK button] to switch between dBm, dB, mw, uw, nw.
2. Wavelength Switching: Select "wavelength" item, press [OK button] to switch wavelengths (850nm, 1300nm, 1310nm, 1490nm, 1550nm, 1625nm).
3. REF Switch: Used to test attenuation value. Insert unattenuated end, long press to save power, then plug attenuation end. Blue display area shows attenuation value or normal optical power.
User Value Setting: Press [up/down arrows] to select "User value setting", press [OK button] to open. Select "optical power" and use [up/down arrows] to set value.
8. VFL
Select the [VFL icon] in the main menu and press the [OK button] to enter the VFL function test.
A triangle arrow indicates the insertion position. Press the [return button] to return to the main menu.
Modes: Press the [OK button] to switch red light to: fast flashing (Flash 2Hz), slow flashing (Flash 1Hz), and always on (Light).
Setting
Select the [Set icon] in the main menu and press the [OK button] to enter the setting function.
Use [up/down arrows] to switch options, press the [OK button] again to switch modes for the current option. Press the [return button] to return to the main menu.
Options:
- Language: English, Chinese
- Backlight: Level 1, Level 2, Level 3
- Backlight Time: MAX, 1min, 30S, 15S, 15 min, 30 min, 1 Hour, 2 Hours, OFF
- Auto OFF: 15 min
- Restore Settings: Option to restore settings (YES/No).
- About Products: Displays Product Model (NF-8508-F), Hardware Version (V0.1), Software Version (V0.0.1).
Receiver Functions
1. Power
Press and hold the [Power button] to turn on. Power indicator lights green, scan indicator lights red (anti-jamming mode). Long press [Power button] to turn off.
2. SCAN
Press the [SCAN button] to switch between "anti-jamming mode" (scan indicator always red) or "normal mode" (SCAN indicator red and flashes).
3. NCV
Press the [NCV button]. The NCV indicator lights green, indicating NCV function is active.
4. LAMP
Press the [Lamp icon] to control the lighting (turn on or off).
5. SEN
Adjust receiver sensitivity by rotating clockwise (increase) or counterclockwise (decrease).
6. Type-C Charging
Power indicator lights red during charging; turns off when fully charged.
