NOYAFA NF-8508 Optical Wire Meter Tracer User Manual
Your excellent helper in cable test!
Product Overview
The NOYAFA NF-8508 is a versatile optical wire meter tracer designed for the maintenance of home and public facility network cables. It functions as a multi-function network cable tester and an optical power meter with a visual fault locator.
Transmitter Functions: Cable pair testing, cable tracing, port flashing, length testing, PoE testing, crimp testing, optical power measurement, red light function, and settings adjustment.
Receiver Functions: Anti-interference cable tracing, normal cable tracing, NCV (Non-Contact Voltage) detection, and illumination.
Product Interface and Components
The device consists of a Transmitter and a Receiver. Key components include:
- Transmitter: OPM, SCAN, VFL buttons, Power button, RJ45 port, Type-C interface, LCD screen displaying various test results and settings.
- Receiver: SCAN button, NCV button, Light button, Power button, RJ45 port, Type-C interface.
UI Icons: The manual provides a comprehensive guide to the various icons displayed on the device's screen, representing functions such as network cable continuity, scanning, port flash, PoE test, length measurement, crimp test, optical power meter, red light, and settings.
Key Functions and Operations
1. Cable Continuity Test
Tests network cable connection status, including continuity, cross, and short circuit. It can be switched between fast and slow modes for local receiver connections.
2. Cable Tracing
Offers two modes: Digital Mode (for anti-interference when tracking cables with load up to 1000M switches) and Analog Mode (for low noise when tracking cables without load). The transmitter and receiver must be in the same mode for proper signal reception.
3. Port Flash
When connected to a switch, the green dot on the screen flashes at the same frequency as the port indicator on the switch.
4. Cable Length Measurement
Measures cable length by inserting one end into the device's length port. Users can select cable type (CAT5/CAT6) and measurement units (Meter/Yard/Feet). The best measurement range is 5-200m. For broken cables, if the break is too close to the empty end, the device may display the full length; measuring from the other end is recommended to locate the break.
5. PoE Test Function
Tests PoE (Power over Ethernet) voltage and standard (AF/AT). It can test 5-60V non-standard/standard PoE, automatically identifying AF/AT standards.
6. Crimp Test
Verifies if the crystal connector is properly crimped. A tick indicates a good connection, while a cross indicates a poor connection.
7. Optical Power Meter Functions
Measures optical power and light attenuation. Users can set units (dBm/nW), wavelength (850, 1300, 1310, 1490, 1550, 1625nm), REF (Reference value), and perform optical power calibration. The manual details how to set these parameters and interpret the results.
- Unit Setting: Select dBm or nW.
- Wavelength Setting: Choose from available wavelengths.
- Optical Output Power: Measured after inserting the optical fiber.
- REF: Used for testing attenuation. Long-press 'OK' to set reference value.
- Calibration: Allows factory or user value calibration. Detailed steps are provided for calibrating at 1310nm wavelength.
8. Red Light Function
Activates the visual fault locator (VFL) light. Users can select between rapid flash, slow flash, and continuous light.
9. Setting Function
Allows users to configure settings such as language, backlight brightness, backlight time, and automatic shutdown time.
