Installation Clearances
For recessed area or closet installation, specific clearances are required to ensure proper ventilation and operation.
Closet Installation Diagram
A diagram illustrates the required spacing for installing the washer in a closet or recessed area. Key clearances include:
- Maximum height clearance: 14 inches (356 mm)
- Side clearance: 1 inch (25 mm) on each side
- Front clearance: 20 inches (508 mm)
- Ventilation openings in the closet door: 48 sq in (310 cm²) total, with specific placement indicated in the diagram (e.g., 24 sq in at the bottom, 24 sq in at the top).
Note: All washers require a minimum of 20 inches (508 mm) of free space. The dimensions shown are recommended clearances, except for closet door ventilation openings which are minimum requirements. This washer has been tested for installation with 0 inches (0 mm) clearance on the sides. Additional space may be beneficial for easier installation, servicing, and to accommodate adjacent appliances or floor moldings. Adding 1 inch (25 mm) on all sides can help reduce noise transfer. If a louvered or solid closet door is used, top and bottom air openings are necessary.
