Key Information
Turning On/Off
Press and hold the SOS Button until the "Welcome" screen appears, then release. Alternatively, the MediWatch will automatically switch on when placed into the charging cradle. To turn off, send an SMS with the word 'off' to your MediWatch's phone number. You can also turn it off via the Settings menu: select System > Power off > confirm (wait approximately 30 seconds).
Charging Your Device
Connect the large end of the charging cable to the wall plug. Connect the small end of the cable to the cradle. Plug the wall plug into a power point and switch the power point on. Place the MediWatch flat onto the cradle. The watch will announce "your alarm is charging" when placed correctly.
Charge your device every day.
Note: Do not leave your device on charge for more than 24 hours at a time, as this can damage the electronics. Similarly, do not leave your device on 0% for more than 1 month.
Restarting Your Device
Press and hold the SOS button for 10-15 seconds. Continue holding even while the SOS voice prompt plays, and do not release until the 'Welcome' screen appears.
Test Your Device
It is recommended to test the MediWatch every 1-3 months.
SOS Press
- Family Monitored: Inform the contacts of the test. Professionally Monitored: Proceed to step 2.
- Press and hold the SOS button until "SOS" appears on the screen.
- Family Monitored: A call will be made to Contact Number 1. Professionally Monitored: The MediWatch will connect with the monitoring company. Skip to step 5.
- The contact must answer within 15 seconds; otherwise, the MediWatch will call the next contact. The user can press the SOS button between calls to stop it from calling the next contact.
- Family Monitored: After the call connects, confirm both parties can hear each other. Professionally Monitored: Confirm you can hear each other and inform them you are performing a test.
- Either party can end the call. When testing, the watch user should hang up by tapping the red phone icon [phone-icon].
Fall Detection
Repeat the steps above to test Fall Detection. Instead of pressing the SOS button, drop the device from chest height onto a soft surface, such as carpet. Cancel the SOS/Fall Detection by briefly pressing the SOS button.
Note: Fall Detection is not perfect. Please refer to the Disclaimer section.
Your Device
The MediWatch has the following components:
- 1. Speaker: All sounds emanate from here. The speaker is set to a loud volume to facilitate 2-way conversations, even for users with hearing difficulties, without needing to bring the watch close to the ear.
- 2. Microphone: While you can bring the MediWatch closer to your mouth, it is not necessary as the microphone is highly sensitive.
- 3. Charging Points: These must align with the charging cradle, as the MediWatch only fits in one orientation. Charging confirmation is indicated by the voice prompt "your alarm is charging".
- 4. SOS Button: Press and hold for approximately 3 seconds to activate. Press once briefly to cancel an emergency sequence.
Touchscreen (If Apps Installed)
Briefly press the SOS Button (do not hold) to turn the screen on or off. Swipe from right to left to access various apps. To open an app, tap the centre of the screen. To exit an app, briefly press the SOS button again to return to the home screen displaying the time. For adding or removing apps, contact Guardian PA for remote assistance.
Wrist Straps
The wrist straps are 22mm wide and can be exchanged for any other strap of your choice. Local watch shops may offer custom strap options, such as folding clasps, butterfly clasps, or stretching wristbands. Additional MediWatch strap accessories are available on the Guardian PA website.
Text Codes
You can send an SMS to the MediWatch's SIM number (found inside the box) to receive device information or reprogram it. Guardian PA offers free lifetime reprogramming, but you are welcome to make changes yourself.

FAQ
Question | Answer |
---|---|
Why did the MediWatch not call the next emergency contact? (Not relevant if professionally monitored) | The user can end the SOS sequence by briefly pressing the SOS button between calls to emergency contacts. If the button is pressed, the next contact will not receive a call. |
What should I do if the alarm activates accidentally? | Briefly press the SOS button to cancel the alarm. The watch will announce that the alarm has been cancelled. |
How do I request phone number changes or other adjustments? | Call 08 6336 9448 or email info@guardiansp.com.au. |
Why is the GPS not working? | GPS requires a clear, unobstructed view of the sky for accuracy. Take the MediWatch outside for 2-3 minutes and retry acquiring location (see page 2). |
Why is the device not charging? | Confirm the MediWatch is placed correctly in the charging cradle. The watch will announce charging status. A brief press of the SOS button will display the charging symbol. Ensure charging points are cleaned regularly (see "Disclaimers"). |
Why didn't Fall Detection sound after a fall? | Due to the variety of falls, some may not register. Sensitivity can be adjusted if necessary. In the event of a fall, do not wait for the Fall Alert alarm; press and hold the SOS button if able. |
Safety Precautions
GPS & CELL SIGNAL
This device relies on the SIM provider's network coverage for phone calls, SMS messages, and GPS positioning. Service quality may vary by provider and location. GPS location is often unavailable indoors. Outdoor GPS accuracy can be affected by insufficient satellite visibility; accuracy depends on a clear line of sight to satellites.
REGULAR TESTING
It is highly recommended to test your unit every 1-3 months by pressing and holding the SOS button. Inform contacts first if family monitored. If not using a Guardian SIM, the user is responsible for ensuring their SIM has sufficient credit.
KEY POINTS
- Wearing the device while sleeping is NOT RECOMMENDED due to potential false SOS activations.
- Switch off your MediWatch when instructed to turn off all mobile phones on commercial aircraft.
- Avoid using a damaged power cable, as it may cause overheating or a fire hazard.
- Never use chemicals or detergents to clean the MediWatch, as they can erode its surface. To prevent electric shock, do not touch the power cable ends, charging plug, or metal parts inside the charging cradle with wet or damp hands.
- Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight and high temperatures to prevent potential battery overheating and damage.
Disclaimers
Fall Detection
The accelerometer detects rapid changes in speed followed by a sudden stop. As falls vary, this feature is NOT 100% accurate. Never rely solely on fall detection; press and hold the SOS button if assistance is needed.
Waterproof Rating
The MediWatch has a waterproof rating of IP67. It can be worn in the shower but should be pat-dried afterward to minimize wear and tear on charging points. Do not submerge the device in water.
Cleaning Your Device
Clean your device weekly. Use an alcohol wipe and a soft brush, paying attention to the circular charging pins. Failure to clean properly may lead to charging issues.
Warranty
The MediWatch is warranted for 1 year from the date of purchase, provided it is cared for and maintained appropriately. Guardian Safety Pendants Pty Ltd reserves the right to include new and/or refurbished parts, valued at least equal to the replaced unit, for repairs or replacements. The warranty does not cover:
- Evidence of water infiltration (device was submerged in water).
- Damage to the charging point caused by forceful, incorrect, or reckless insertion or removal of the charging cord.
- Damage resulting from accident, abuse, misuse, or acts of God.
