The Power of IPL
IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) is an FDA-cleared light treatment for hair removal. It uses broad-spectrum polychromatic light to target melanin in hair follicles, making them dormant for permanent hair removal. Ulike Sapphire A+ series emits light that targets specific wavelengths for hair removal.
IPL vs. Laser:
Both IPL and laser are light treatments targeting melanin. IPL uses a broadband pulsed light source, while laser uses a monochromatic coherent light source. Laser can be more precise and suitable for more skin tones but is recommended for professional facilities due to its high power output. IPL offers effective permanent results for suitable candidates.
Visible Light Spectrum in IPL:
- Ultraviolet light
- Skin rejuvenation light
- Melanocyte (target of IPL)
- Penetration hair removal
- Hair follicle (target of IPL)
Ulike Patented Sapphire Ice-cooling Technology
IPL treatments can sometimes cause slight pain due to heat. Ulike's patented Sapphire ice-touch technology cools the skin simultaneously with the IPL light, reducing burning sensations and pain. The Air 3 model lowers epidermal temperature to 68°F and below while emitting light for 20 minutes.

Tips on How to Use the Hair Removal Device
Find the Right Level for U:
Start with Soft Mode and perform a test patch. Note your skin's reaction and adjust intensity as needed. Higher levels generally yield faster results.
- Soft Mode: For delicate areas.
- Body Mode: Suitable for the whole body.
- Power Mode: Fast and powerful treatment.
Choose the Treatment Method:
- Auto-Glide Method: Press and hold for 2 seconds to activate. Glide the light window on the skin; the light will flash automatically. Ideal for large areas like arms and legs.
- Spot Method: Short press the treatment button for one flash at a time. Suitable for small areas like fingers and upper lips.
Follow the Agenda
For best results, follow this schedule:
- Week 1&2: Treat every other day.
- Week 3&4: Treat twice per week.
Complete body treatment takes approximately 10+ minutes. Consistent use for 3-4 weeks will show noticeable differences.
Why Shave Before Using Ulike?
Shaving ensures the IPL light targets the hair root effectively, improving performance. Other hair removal methods might affect treatment results. Burning during treatment may be due to surface hair stubble.

Will IPL Hair Removal Work for Me?
IPL works best with a contrast between skin tone and hair color, particularly fair skin and dark hair. The IPL light is absorbed by melanin, heating and disabling the hair follicle. Light hair colors (red, white, grey, light blonde) may yield less effective results due to low melanin. Dark skin tones with high melanin levels may be at risk of burning as they absorb more light.
