Important Cautions of Safety
Read the following warnings and cautions carefully before operating the system and use it correctly. After reading, keep this manual in a place where the actual user can see it whenever necessary.
WARNINGS (Failure to follow a warning is very likely to result in such grave consequences as death or serious injury.)
- Do not connect the air conditioner to a power supply different from the specification. It may cause troubles or fire.
- Use a fuse of the correct capacity and connect the breaker correctly.
- Be careful not to expose your body to the cold air for a long time, and not to cool the room too much. It will adversely affect your conditions and cause health problems.
- Do not put objects such as fingers or a rod into the air outlet or inlet. As a fan is rotating at a high speed, it will cause injury.
- Do not attempt to install the air conditioner by yourself. Incorrect work will cause electric shock, fire etc.
- Do not attempt to repair, relocate or reinstall the air conditioner by yourself. Incorrect work will cause electric shock, fire etc.
- If anything is abnormal (e.g., a burning smell comes out), stop the operation immediately and turn the breaker OFF. Continued abnormal operation will cause troubles, electric shocks, fire etc.
Caution
(Failure to follow a caution may result in serious injury or property damage, and in certain conditions, may result in a grave consequence.)
- Do not place combustion equipment below indoor units. Heat produced by such devices could cause deformation.
- Do not expose plants or animals directly to the air flow. It may cause adverse effects on the plant or animal.
- Do not place a vessel containing water on the unit. If the water penetrates into the unit, electrical insulations will be degraded, which may cause electric shocks.
- Never attempt to modify the air conditioner. It may cause accidents.
- Do not block air inlet nor outlet. Blocked inlets or outlets may cause insufficient performance or troubles.
- Earth the air conditioner. Incomplete earthing may cause electric shocks.
- Do not connect the earth line to a gas pipe, water pipe, lightening rod, or a telephone earth line.
- Arrange the drain hose to ensure smooth drainage. Blocked drainage may cause wetting of the building, furniture etc.

Treatment
- When using, aim the signal transmitter at the air conditioner. The operative distance between the remote controller and the air conditioner is about 7m in a straight line.
- A "peep" sound is heard when the unit receives a signal from the remote controller.
- If there is an obstruction between the signal transmitter and the receiver, such as curtains or doors, the air conditioner will not operate.
- Signal may not be received in a room with an electronic ballast type fluorescent lamp. Please consult with your dealer before buying a new fluorescent lamp.
- If another electric appliance is operated by the remote controller, move the appliance away, or consult with your dealer.
Caution
- Never throw the remote controller nor strongly shock it. Do not get it wet, either.
- Take care not to let children play with the buttons.
Replacing of Air Purifying Filter
Soiled Air Purifying Filter needs replacing. Air Purifying Filter should be replaced every three months on average, but if their colour is similar to either of the sample colours, replace them promptly.
How to replace
- Hold the handle at the bottom center of the air filter, and pull it down.
- Make sure that the net-side (black) of the filter is facing front (up) in the fig. When setting the frame, the arrows marked on the claws should be pointing upward. Set 3 claws at the top of the frame first, and then set the rest of 2 claws at the bottom.
- Be sure to set air filters back in place. Look at page 23 for replacing of air purifying filters.
Please consult the shop you purchased this product for Air Purifying Filter replacement.
Parts Name | Code Name
Air Purifying filter (with frame) | KAF96A41
Air Purifying filter (without frame) | KAF96A42
Note:
- When you don't need Air purifying filters, operate the unit without them.
- Air Purifying Filter can not be used more than once by washing.
- Using Air Purifying Filters without replacing cause impairment of air flow and operating efficiency.
PROGRAM DRY Operation
By the microcomputer function, the air conditioner takes away the moisture with minimum temperature decrease.
- Set the mode to "¨" (PROGRAM DRY).
- Press ON/OFF button. Then the OPERATION indicator lamp lights up.
To stop: Press ON/OFF button. Then OPERATION indicator lamp goes out.
This is a microcomputer controlled function that determines the appropriate room temperature and humidity, and cycles the compressor and indoor fan ON and OFF to achieve and maintain them, based on the ambient temperature and humidity at the time of switching on this function.
Note:
- The PROGRAM DRY function is designed primarily for dehumidification and not for lowering room temperature - but remember a dehumidified room will always 'fell' cooler than a humid one.
- PROGRAM DRY operation is not possible in ambients below 18°C.
- There is no need to set the THERMOSTAT SETTING selector or FAN SPEED selector as PROGRAM DRY operates independently of them.
THREE-STEP Flow system
- Step 1: At the start of HEAT mode, the air blows out horizontally.
- Step 2: When the air temperature has risen, the unit starts warming up the floor.
- Step 3: When the flow and the walls are warmed up, the warm air starts blowing toward the area around people.
Left/Right air flow direction adjustment: The vertical louvers may be adjusted as you please.
Note: If adjustment is carried out during flap swing, the flap may strike your hand. Make adjustments once the swing has completely stopped to the appropriate position.
When the TIMER OFF is set
1. The microcomputer controls the room temperature to ensure your comfortable sleep.
2. The air flow setting can be changed as you like.
The temperature setting changes as shown below after TIMER OFF is set.

Operation by unit's ON/OFF button
In case you can not operate the air conditioner immediately because of a remote controller trouble or battery exhaustion, you can operate it by ON/OFF button.
Press ON/OFF button: Automatic operation starts at the preset temperature of 25°C with air flow rate automatic.
To stop: Press ON/OFF button once again.
Operating Condition
Use the system in the following temperature and humidity range for safe and effective operation.
COOL | Outdoor temperature: 19°C to 46°C | Indoor temperature: 18°C to 32°C | Indoor humidity: 80% or below |
PROGRAM DRY | |||
HEAT | Outdoor temperature: -10°C to 21°C | Indoor temperature: Under 28°C |
Caution
- If the temperature or humidity is beyond these conditions, safety devices may work and conditioner may not operate.
- Long time operation in a humidity over 80% may cause condensation on the unit and dripping.
Trouble Shooting
The following cases are not air conditioner troubles.
- A malfunction occurred during operation: If the air conditioner has malfunctioned due to a lightening or a car wireless while operating, turn the safety breaker OFF. Then turn it ON after at least 3 minutes and press ON/OFF button on the remote controller again.
- Operation does not start soon after ON/OFF button is pressed: In the following cases, the air conditioner waits in stand-by for 3 minutes before starting operation, for system protection. Just leave it as it is for a while.
- When turned on again immediately after turning off.
- When changing the operation mode.
- When power is restored after power failure.
- The outdoor fan rotates while the air conditioner is not in operation: In the following cases, the outdoor fan continues or starts rotating for system protection.
- For 30 seconds after operation stopped.
- When the outdoor temperature is high.
- The unit gives out odour: This happens when smells of the room, furniture, or cigarettes are absorbed into the unit and discharged with the air flow.
- Mists come out of the indoor unit: This happens when the air in the room is cooled into mist by the cold air flow during cooling operation.
- The operation stopped suddenly: The air conditioner may stop operating, on a sudden large voltage fluctuation, for system protection. It automatically resumes operation in about 3 minutes.
Check Before Calling a Repairperson
If the trouble remains even after checking the following points, do not attempt to repair the air conditioner by yourself but consult the electric appliance shop.
1. The air conditioner does not operate.
- Hasn't a breaker turned OFF or a fuse blown?
- Isn't it a power failure?
- Are batteries set in the remote controller?
2. Does not sufficiently cool or heat.
- Is the air filter clogged?
- Is the room temperature set to the proper temperature?
- Is the suction inlet or air discharge outlet of the indoor or outdoor unit blocked?
- Are the windows or doors open?
- Is the flap positioned properly?
- Is the air flow rate set too weak?
3. The OPERATION lamp on the unit flashes on and off.
- Aren't the air inlets and the outlets of the indoor and the outdoor units all unblocked?
WARNING: CALL THE SHOP IMMEDIATELY.
If one of the following symptoms takes place, stop the operation immediately; then turn the breaker OFF and call the electric appliance shop.
- An alien substance or water has been put in a remote controller or a unit by mistake.
- The safety devices (fuses, the safety breaker and the earth leakage breaker) cut off the operation frequently.
