2019 Ford Fiesta SE Rear Door Latch: Removal and Installation

REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION > REAR DOOR LATCH

REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION > REAR DOOR LATCH > REMOVAL

NOTE: RH shown, LH similar.

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.

1. All vehicles

   1. Remove the rear door trim panel. Refer to: Rear Door Trim Panel.

   2. Remove the adhesive tape covers.

2. Vehicles with manual windows

   3. Lower the rear door window glass.

   • Partially install the window crank handle.
   • Lower the rear door window glass.

3. Vehicles with power windows

   4. Lower the rear door window glass.

   • Partially install the rear door window control switch.
   • Lower the rear door window glass.

4. All vehicles

   5. Remove the bolts from the rear door window glass.

   Torque: 62 lb.in (7 Nm)

5. Vehicles with manual windows

   6. Raise the rear door window glass and tape the rear door window glass in place.

   • Remove the front door window crank handle.
   • Raise the front door window glass and tape the front door window glass in place.

6. All vehicles

   7. Remove the rear door carrier.

   Torque: 71 lb.in (8 Nm)

7. Vehicles with power windows

   8. Raise the rear door window glass and tape the rear door window glass in place.

8. All vehicles

   9. Remove the rear door carrier.

   Torque: 71 lb.in (8 Nm)

9. All vehicles

   10. Refer to: Exterior Rear Door Handle.

    11. Remove the rear door latch.

    • Remove the screw from the exterior rear door handle reinforcement.
    • Remove the retainers from the rear door latch and remove the rear door latch. Torque: 71 lb.in (8 Nm)

11. NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new component.

    12. Remove the exterior rear door handle reinforcement.

    • Detach the cable from the exterior rear door handle reinforcement.
    • Remove the cable eyelet from the exterior rear door handle reinforcement.
    • Remove the exterior rear door handle reinforcement.

12. NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new component.

    13. Remove the latch screws, disconnect the cables and remove the front door latch.

    14. Remove interior rear door handle cable from the rear door latch.

1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
2. If the door is equipped with one-touch up, the power window motor must be initialized. Refer to: Power Door Window Initialization - Vehicles With: One-Touch Open and Close Driver Window/One-Touch Open and Close Front Windows.
