HEINE mini 3000 Series Instructions for Use
Read these instructions carefully before using the HEINE mini 3000® instruments and keep them in a safe place for future reference. This product should be disposed of as electronic waste according to local regulations.
Applied Part: BF
Caution: Do not open the instrument/battery handle in the vicinity of the patient.
1. HEINE mini 3000® Battery Handle
Range of applications: For powering HEINE mini 3000® instruments.
Batteries:
- 2 alkaline cells (AA/LR6).
- Important: Do not use alkali manganese batteries with lithium as bulb life will be reduced.
- Can be charged in the HEINE mini NT with the HEINE mini 2Z rechargeable battery (2.5V).
Charging time: The mini NT indicates full charge with a continuously lit ring. A mini 2Z rechargeable battery (2.5V, NiMH) charges in approximately 4 hours (730mAh).
Instrument connector: Internal thread in handle head (1).
Switching on: Push switch (2) down. ▶️
Switching off: Push switch up. ⬆️ The handle switches off automatically if placed firmly in a coat pocket.
Changing the batteries: Unscrew the end cap (3) and remove old batteries. Insert new batteries with the plus contact facing the handle head.
Cleaning:
- Clean the handle with a damp cloth and a pH-neutral or alkaline detergent.
- For disinfection, use approved wipe disinfection methods with detergents suitable for medical devices made of plastic.
- Disinfection by spraying or immersion, and sterilization, are not permitted.
2. HEINE mini 3000® Ophthalmoscope
Range of applications: For examination of the eye.
Use: Hold the instrument with your index finger on the lens wheel (1) or aperture wheel (3). The window (2) displays the selected lens value (red for minus lenses, black for plus lenses).
Changing the bulb: Unscrew the instrument from the handle and pull the bulb (4) downwards. Wipe the new bulb glass clean and insert it, ensuring the locating pin (5) fits the slit.
Cleaning:
- Wipe the housing with a cloth moistened with alcohol.
- Clean glass surfaces with a cotton wool bud and alcohol.
3. HEINE mini 3000® Focalux hand lamp
Range of applications: Illuminating the oral cavity, throat, nose, skin surface, and examining the anterior segment of the eye. Can be used for indirect ophthalmoscopy with an ophthalmoscopy lens.
Method of operation: Attach the instrument to a handle. Switch on the illumination and direct light from the prism (7) onto a white surface. Use the slide (1) to adjust focus from parallel (slide at bottom) to convergent rays.
Use of magnifying lens +3D: Mount the lens on the cylindrical part (8) of the hand lamp. Ensure the shoulder (5) of the lens ring (6) points upward. The lens facilitates comfortable examination for presbyopic users and provides a magnified fundus image. Always center the lens on the hand lamp.
Changing bulbs:
- Note: Genuine HEINE bulbs are required for guaranteed performance.
- Remove the instrument from the handle. Grip the bulb collar (4) and pull the bulb downwards.
- Wipe the dome of the new bulb with a clean cloth and insert it, aligning the adjusting pin (4) with the recess (2).
Cleaning: Wipe the instrument with an alcohol-moistened cloth. Use an alcohol-moistened cotton wool bud for glass surfaces.
4. HEINE mini 3000® tongue-blade holder
Range of applications: Illuminating the oral cavity and throat.
Fitting and ejecting the tongue-blade: Push a HEINE disposable tongue-blade into the holder (3) until it clicks. Press the trigger (4) to eject.
Changing the bulb: Unscrew the cover (1) and pull out the bulb (2). Insert a new bulb and screw the cover back on.
Cleaning: Wipe clean with a cleaning or disinfectant solution. Do not soak or autoclave.
5. HEINE mini 3000® otoscope / HEINE mini 3000® F.O. otoscope
Range of applications: Examination of the external ear and general non-invasive skin examination.
Safety in use:
- Always use with a tip fitted when examining the ear.
- Limit skin contact time to a maximum of 1 minute.
- Apply pressure with great care during pneumatic testing.
Use:
- Attaching a tip: Fit a disposable (grey) or reusable (black) tip. Push the tip onto the instrument until the internal projection engages in the slit (1). Twist right to lock.
- Magnifying lens: The lens (2) magnifies approximately 3x and can be swiveled aside for instrumentation.
- Insufflation port: An insufflation bulb can be fitted to the port.
- General illumination: Can be used with or without a tip for illuminating the oral cavity or skin. Avoid contact with sensitive or damaged skin.
Changing the bulb:
- Otoscope: Swivel the lens (2) aside and pull the bulb (3) backwards out of the head. Push in a new bulb.
- F.O. Otoscope: Unscrew the head from the handle, then pull the bulb (3) downwards. Push in the new bulb.
Cleaning and Sterilization:
- Otoscope head: Clean the outside with a soft cloth, and the inside with an alcohol-soaked cotton wool bud. Gas sterilization is permitted. Do not soak.
- Reusable SANALON S tips: Can be cleaned, disinfected, sterilized, or boiled using conventional methods. Autoclaving is permitted.
- AllSpec-Tips: Single-use only. Do not attempt to clean, as the tip may be damaged and could injure the patient.
6. HEINE mini 3000® Cliplamp
Range of applications: Designed solely for the examination of the skin surface.
Cleaning:
- Clean the Cliplamp with a damp cloth and a pH-neutral or alkaline detergent.
- For disinfection, use approved wipe disinfection methods with detergents suitable for medical devices made of plastic.
- Disinfection by spraying or immersion, and sterilization, are not allowed.
Please note: Genuine HEINE bulbs, rechargeable batteries, or alkali manganese batteries are required for guaranteed instrument performance.
Warranty Information
HEINE offers a 5-year warranty from the date of factory delivery for this device, excluding consumables like bulbs, tips, and batteries. This warranty covers proper function when used as intended and according to instructions. Defects caused by material, design, or workmanship faults occurring during the warranty period will be repaired free of charge. The buyer must prove that any defect was present at the time of delivery.
The standard legal guarantee and warranty do not apply to:
- Incorrect use.
- Use of non-original HEINE parts or accessories (especially bulbs, which are optimized for color temperature, life expectancy, safety, optical quality, and performance).
- Repairs or modifications by unauthorized persons.
- Failure to follow the provided instructions.
Any modification of a HEINE product with non-conforming parts invalidates the warranty for correct function and any resulting claims. Claims for damage not directly related to the HEINE product are excluded.
For repairs, please contact your supplier, who will arrange for the return of the goods to HEINE or an authorized agent.
