Important Notes
- Locate the safe's serial number on the back or bottom front corner and record it.
- Keep keys and combination in a secure place away from children.
- Do not store the back-up key, combination, or this document inside the safe.
- Do not use the handle to move the safe; this can compromise its integrity and void the warranty.
- Do not store electronic media, computer disks, audio-visual media, or photographic negatives in this safe, as they may be damaged or destroyed by heat.
- Keep your safe closed and locked at all times when not in use.
Getting Started
Safety Interlock Screw: Select safes are delivered with a Safety Interlock Screw that must be removed to lock the safe. Failure to do so will compromise safety and security.
- Open the safe by turning the handle clockwise and pulling the door open.
- Locate the Safety Interlock Screw on the side of the door.
- Remove the screw using a Phillips screwdriver and discard it.
Your safe can now be closed and locked. Do not lock the instruction manual and/or keys inside the safe.
Operating the Electronic Lock
Handle Operation: For safes with multi-spoked handles, screw the spoke into the hub and hand-tighten. Do not use the handle to move the safe.
Unlocking with Key:
- Remove the keypad face by pressing the tab and turning it. The keypad can hang by its cable.
- Insert the key into the keyhole and turn clockwise 1/4 turn until stopped to unlock the safe.
- Rotate the handle and open the door.
Battery Installation
This safe uses one 9V alkaline battery, which typically lasts about 1 year. When the battery is low, a red indicator light will appear on the keypad after pressing any button. Test your battery every six months by entering your code.
Battery Replacement:
- Remove the keypad face by pressing the tab and turning it.
- Disconnect the battery, holding the connecting cap. Do not pull on the wires.
- Replace the old battery with a new 9V alkaline battery.
- Screw the keypad face back in place.
Electronic Lock Operation
After installing the battery, the electronic lock is ready for use. The factory preset code is 1-5-9-#. It is the owner's responsibility to safeguard the new code.
Initial Use: To use the lock for the first time, press 1-5-9-#.
Changing the Entry Code:
- After opening the safe with the factory code (1-5-9-#), locate the small red reset button on the inside of the door near the hinge.
- Press and release the red reset button; you will hear a beep. A yellow light will activate on the faceplate.
- While the yellow light is on, enter your 3-8 digit personal security code.
- Confirm your code by pressing the * symbol.
- Before closing the door, enter your code followed by the # symbol to ensure the handle releases and the bolts retract.
If the code fails, repeat the process. If successful, record your combination securely away from children.
NOTE: DO NOT SHUT THE DOOR UNTIL YOU HAVE CONFIRMED THAT YOUR NEW SECURITY CODE WORKS CORRECTLY.
Locking the Safe
To lock the safe, close the door and rotate the handle counterclockwise until it stops. Ensure the handle is turned fully.
Important: Wait approximately 3 to 6 seconds after entering the combination before locking the safe, as the locking mechanism is temporarily deactivated.
Always confirm the door is closed and the lock has engaged before leaving the safe unattended.
Lockout Mode
If an incorrect security code is entered 3 times, the safe will automatically lockout for 15 seconds. If entered incorrectly 2 more times, there will be a 5-minute lockout.
Silencing the Keypad
To turn off the keypad "Beep" sound, enter: * - 6 - 3 - 3.
To turn the "Beep" sound on, enter: * - 6 - 6.
Backup Key Operation
A "Backup Key" is provided for forgotten or lost security codes.
- Remove the cover by pressing the tab and turning it.
- Insert the key into the keyhole and turn clockwise 1/4 turn to unlock the safe.
- Keep the door open until you have entered a new security code. Remove the key and screw the cover back in place.
- Enter your new security code as per the instructions.
Selecting Your Location
For optimal security, mount the safe to the floor in a dry, secure area, adjacent to a side wall with minimal space on either side. Ensure the safe is flat against the wall and floor; remove baseboard if necessary.
CHILDREN SHOULD NOT PLAY WITH OR AROUND THE SAFE AT ANY TIME.
Stack-On Tips: Before placing the safe, verify the floor's load-bearing capacity and measure doorways to ensure safe passage. Choose a location suitable for bolting down the safe for added theft protection.
Securing the Safe
IMPORTANT: The safe must be removed from its base/legs and fastened to the floor using appropriate hardware. Failure to do so will void the warranty.
Installation Steps:
- Place the safe in the desired location. With the safe open, lift the interior carpeting and locate the mounting hole bushings.
- Drill out the fire-resistant caulking from the bushings using a 3/8" diameter drill bit.
- Use the same drill bit to mark the hole locations on the floor. Move the safe away.
- Drill pilot holes: For wood floors, use 5/16" diameter x 2-1/2" deep pilot holes. For masonry floors, use 7/16" diameter x 2-1/2" deep pilot holes.
- Mount the safe to the floor using lag bolts and gasket washers. Failure to do so will void the fire rating and waterproofing.
- Reposition the safe and secure it with the lag bolts and gasket washers. Replace the carpeting.
Stack-On recommends professional installation by local safe dealers or locksmiths. If you choose to install it yourself, you assume responsibility for any damages.

Recommendations
- Use only Duracell or Energizer batteries expiring at least 5 years from the current year. Change batteries every 6 months.
- Use red head anchors 3-3/4 x 3/8 to bolt the safe.
- Record the serial number before mounting.
- Do not place the safe in a damp or humid area.
- Keep page 1 of this manual in a safe place away from children (not inside the safe).
- Do not overload the safe, as this can pressure the door and affect its operation.
- Avoid applying excessive force to the handle. Contact customer support if the safe does not open.
- Do not store electronic media, computer disks, SD cards, audio-visual media, or photographic negatives in the safe, as they may be damaged or destroyed in a fire.
