Introduction
New firmware versions are released to improve device performance and fix bugs. Follow the steps below to upgrade your router's firmware.
Step 1: Access the Router
Connect your computer to the router via Ethernet cable or Wi-Fi. Open a web browser and navigate to http://192.168.0.1
. This is the default address for most TOTOLINK routers. If this address does not work, please check the label on the bottom of your router.
Step 2: Log In
You will be prompted to log in. The default username and password for TOTOLINK routers are both 'admin' (in lowercase). Enter these credentials and click the 'LOGIN' button.
Step 3: Upgrade Firmware
Navigate to the firmware upgrade section. Typically, this is found under Management > System > Upgrade Firmware. On the upgrade page, click the 'Choose File' button and select the firmware file you downloaded for your specific router model. After selecting the file, click the 'Upgrade' button. The router will then restart automatically to apply the new firmware. This process may take a few minutes.
Important Notices
- Do Not Power Off: Never power off the router or close the browser window while the firmware is upgrading, as this can cause the system to crash.
- File Type: Ensure the firmware file you are using has a '.web' extension.
- Post-Upgrade: After the firmware upgrade is complete, it is recommended to reset the router to its factory default settings using the RST or RST/WPS button if you have previously changed any settings.
