1 General Information
The documentation for the TOUCH Family includes this Operating Manual and several other documents. Assembly personnel must read all documentation before starting assembly. Keep all documentation for as long as the product is in your possession and ensure it is provided to subsequent owners. Visit www.logicdata.net for more information and support. This manual may change without notice; the most recent version is available on the website.
1.1 Other Applicable Documents
This Operating Manual contains assembly instructions for the Handsets within the TOUCH Family. Other applicable documents include:
- Datasheet for the TOUCH Handset.
- Datasheet and Operating Manual for the Control Box in the Table System.

1.3 Royalty-Free Use of Images and Text
After purchase and full payment, text and images in Chapter 2 "Safety" may be used free of charge by the customer for 10 years after delivery for preparing end-user documentation for Height-Adjustable Table Systems. This license excludes LOGICDATA logos, designs, and page layout elements. Resellers may adapt text and images for end-user documentation. Texts and images may not be sold, published, or sublicensed digitally without LOGICDATA permission. Full ownership and copyright remain with LOGICDATA. Texts and graphics are provided as-is without warranty.
1.4 Trademarks
Documentation may include registered trademarks and proprietary expertise of LOGICDATA or third parties. All rights remain with the respective copyright holder. LOGICDATA® is a registered trademark of LOGICDATA Electronic & Software GmbH.
2 Safety
2.1 Target Audience
This Operating Manual is intended for Skilled Persons only. Refer to Chapter 2.8 for requirements.
2.2 General Safety Regulations
When handling the product, the following safety regulations apply:
- Do not operate the product unless it is clean and in perfect condition.
- Do not remove, change, bridge, or bypass any protection, safety, or monitoring equipment.
- Do not convert or modify components without written LOGICDATA approval.
- Replace faulty components immediately in case of malfunction or damage.
- Unauthorized repairs are prohibited.
- Do not attempt to replace hardware unless the product is de-energized.
- Only Skilled Persons are allowed to work with TOUCH Handsets.
- Ensure national worker protection and safety regulations are observed during system operation.
2.3 Intended Use
The TOUCH Family products are Handsets for electrically Height-Adjustable Tables, installed by Resellers into Height-Adjustable Table systems and used to control them via a Control Box. They are intended for indoor use only and must be installed in compatible Height-Adjustable Tables with LOGICDATA-approved accessories. Use beyond the intended scope voids the warranty.
2.4 Reasonably Foreseeable Misuse
Usage outside the intended use may lead to injury or death. Foreseeable misuse includes connecting unauthorized parts. If unsure, contact LOGICDATA.
2.5 Explanation of Symbols and Signal Words
Safety notices use signal words to indicate hazard severity:
- DANGER: Hazardous situation, death or serious injury if not avoided.
- WARNING: Hazardous situation, death or serious injury if not avoided.
- CAUTION: Hazardous situation, minor or moderate injury if not avoided.
- NOTICE: Situation that could damage the product via electrostatic discharge (ESD) if not avoided.
- NOTICE: Situation that will not lead to personal injury but could damage the device or environment if not avoided.
- INFO: Indicates protection class (Protection Class III) and that devices may only be connected to SELV or PELV power sources.
- INFO: Indicates important handling tips.
2.6 Liability
LOGICDATA products comply with health and safety regulations. However, LOGICDATA is not liable for damage or injury caused by:
- Improper product use
- Disregard of documentation
- Unauthorized product alterations
- Improper work on/with the product
- Operation of damaged products
- Wear parts
- Improperly performed repairs
- Unauthorized changes to operating parameters
- Disasters, external influence, and force majeure
Resellers are responsible for ensuring their products comply with relevant directives, standards, and laws, and for the LOGICDATA products they install.
2.7 Residual Risks
Residual risks are evaluated through risk assessment. Specific residual risks for the TOUCH Family are listed throughout this manual. Refer to Chapter 1.1 and 2.5 for details.
- WARNING: Risk of death or serious injury through electric shocks
TOUCH Handsets are electrical devices. Basic safety precautions must be taken. Failure to observe electrical safety may lead to death or serious injury. Do not open the Handset, immerse it in liquid, place cables on heated surfaces, or operate damaged products. Ensure it is not connected to the Control Box during assembly. - WARNING: Risk of death or serious injury in explosive atmospheres
Operating the Handset in potentially explosive atmospheres may lead to death or serious injury. Do not operate the Handset in such environments. - CAUTION: Risk of minor or moderate injury through tripping
During assembly, cables may pose a tripping hazard. Keep the assembly area clear and be careful not to trip over cables. - CAUTION: Risk of minor or moderate injury through crushing
If a Handset Key becomes stuck, the system may not stop properly. Disconnect the system immediately if a key becomes stuck.
2.8 Skilled Persons
CAUTION: Risk of injury through incorrect assembly
Only Skilled Persons can safely complete assembly. Assembly by unskilled persons may lead to injury. Ensure only Skilled Persons perform assembly and that persons with limited ability to react to danger are not involved.
A Skilled Person is authorized for installation, has read all documentation, possesses relevant technical education/training/experience, understands specialist standards, and can manage electrical and mechatronic products.
2.9 Notes for Resellers
Resellers should provide end users with an Operating Manual in their native EU official language for product safety and EU conformity. Manuals must include all necessary safety instructions and advise users to keep the manual near the product. Unauthorized persons should not handle the product. Resellers must perform a risk assessment for their product, including measures to mitigate residual hazards.
3 Scope of Delivery
The standard scope of delivery for TOUCH Family Handsets includes the Handset and its pre-attached cable. Additional components, such as mounting screws, must be supplied by the reseller.
4 Unpackaging
NOTICE: Ensure proper ESD handling during unpackaging. Damage from electrostatic discharge will void warranty claims.
To unpackage the product:
- Remove all components from the packaging.
- Check contents for completeness and damage.
- Provide the Operating Manual to operating personnel.
- Dispose of packaging material.
NOTICE: Dispose of packaging material in an environmentally friendly manner, separating plastic from cardboard.
5 Products
The TOUCH Family of Handsets includes three products:
- TOUCHfx: Includes TOUCHfx and TOUCHfx-KM (Key Membrane Version). Operation and assembly are generally the same, except for the Key Lock function, which is only available on TOUCHfx. This manual primarily depicts the TOUCHfx.
- TOUCHdown
- TOUCHinlay-KM
INFO: Handsets may have variants with additional features or different configurations, indicated by the product's order code. Consult the Datasheet for the correct variant.

5.2.4 Dimensions for the Milled Cut-out
The milled cut-out for the TOUCHinlay-KM must have the following dimensions:

INFO: It is assumed the cut-out creates a hole through the table top. If not, a separate hole for the cable is needed. Contact LOGICDATA for details.
5.3 Drilling Templates
5.3.1 TOUCHfx

5.3.2 TOUCHdown

6 Assembly
This chapter describes the process of installing the TOUCH Family Handset into a Height-Adjustable Table System.
6.1 Safety During Assembly
The following safety instructions apply to all TOUCH Family Handsets. Hazards specific to a particular Handset are listed in its assembly instructions.
- CAUTION: Risk of minor or moderate injury through improper handling
Improper handling may cause cutting, pinching, or crushing injuries. Avoid contact with sharp edges, be careful with tools, ensure compliance with electrical engineering and furniture manufacturing standards, and read all instructions carefully. - CAUTION: Risk of minor or moderate injury through tripping
Poorly routed cables can be a trip hazard. Ensure cables are routed properly and be careful not to trip over them during installation. - NOTICE: Ensure proper ESD handling during assembly.
- NOTICE: Measure the Handset dimensions before assembly to avoid damage.
- NOTICE: Acclimatize all parts to ambient conditions before assembly.
- NOTICE: Do not lift the Handset by its cable, as this will cause irreparable damage.
- INFO: Perform a product risk assessment for potential residual hazards. Include assembly instructions in your end-user manual.
6.2 Assembly: TOUCHfx
6.2.1 Required Components

INFO: Screw specifications: Thread diameter max. 5 mm, Head diameter 8.5 mm - 10.6 mm. Avoid countersunk-head screws if possible.
6.2.2 Process
- Position the Handset under the table top and mark drilling hole positions, using the Drilling Template (Chapter 5.3.1) if necessary.
- Insert the Strain Relief into the designated slot on the Handset.

NOTICE: Incorrect Strain Relief insertion can damage the cable and Handset. Ensure the cable does not protrude over the housing. - Use the screwdriver and 2 Mounting Screws to attach the Handset to the Table Top at the marked points.
NOTICE: Tightening torque depends on the table top material; do not exceed 2 Nm.
6.2.3 Completing Assembly
After attaching the TOUCHfx to the Table Top, connect the cable to the Control Box. Refer to the Control Box manual for instructions.
6.3 Assembly: TOUCHdown
6.3.1 Required Components
The following components are required to assemble the TOUCHdown:

INFO: Screw specifications: Thread diameter max. 5 mm, Head diameter max. 10 mm. Avoid countersunk-head screws if possible.
6.3.2 Process
- Position the Handset under the table top and mark drilling hole positions (Fig. 11). Use the Drilling Template (Chapter 5.3.2) if needed. Ensure circled corners are flush with the table edge.

INFO: If the mounting area has a curved edge, move the Handset slightly backward. - Ensure the cable is routed correctly, requiring a 10cm Cable Loop. Use the cable supports on the Control Box back edge (Fig. 12).
Diagram description: Figure 12 illustrates creating a cable loop for the TOUCHdown. - Use the screwdriver and 4 Mounting Screws to attach the Handset to the Table Top at the marked drilling points.
NOTICE: Tightening torque depends on the table top material; do not exceed 2 Nm.
6.3.3 Completing Assembly
After attaching the TOUCHdown to the Table Top, connect the cable to the Control Box. Refer to the Control Box manual for instructions.
6.4 Assembly: TOUCHinlay-KM
6.4.1 Required Components
The following components are required to assemble the TOUCHinlay-KM:
- TOUCHinlay-KM Handset
- Milling cutter (or similar)
6.4.2 Process
- Use a milling cutter or similar to mill the cut-out. Dimensions are shown in Chapter 5.2.4 (Fig. 7).
- Push the Handset into the milled cut-out until the top plate is flush with the Table Top. The rubber ribs will hold it in place.
6.4.3 Completing Assembly
After attaching the TOUCHinlay-KM to the Table Top, connect the cable to the Control Box. Refer to the Control Box manual for instructions.
7 Operation
- CAUTION: Risk of minor or moderate injury through uncontrolled movement
The table may not stop at the exact expected position. Wait until the system has completely stopped before use. - CAUTION: Risk of minor or moderate injury through unsecured objects
Unsecured objects may fall off the table during movement. Keep loose objects away from the edge and do not leave unnecessary objects on the table during movement. - CAUTION: Risk of minor or moderate injury through crushing
Failure to release Handset Keys correctly may prevent the table from stopping properly. Do not slide your finger between keys while another button is pressed. Disconnect the system immediately if any Handset Key becomes stuck. - INFO: External interferences may interrupt handset technology, leading to unrecognised user inputs.
This section provides operating instructions for the Table System connected to the TOUCH Handset. TOUCH Handsets are compatible with many LOGICDATA Control Boxes. Read the Control Box manual, including safety information, before use.
Handset Keys are represented as follows:
- ▲ (Up Arrow): UP Key
- ▼ (Down Arrow): DOWN Key
- [SAVE Button]: SAVE Key
- [Key 1]: Memory Position Key 1
- [Key 2]: Memory Position Key 2
- [Key 3]: Memory Position Key 3
- [Key 4]: Memory Position Key 4
7.1 Adjusting the Table Top Height
CAUTION: Risk of minor or moderate injury through crushing
Keep fingers away from moving parts and ensure no persons or objects are in the table's range of motion.
INFO: The Table Top moves until the UP or DOWN Key is released or a pre-defined stop point is reached.
- To move the Table Top UP: Press and hold the UP Key until the desired height is reached.
- To move the Table Top DOWN: Press and hold the DOWN Key until the desired height is reached.
7.2 Saving a Memory Position
This function saves a set Table Top position. One position can be saved per Memory Position Key.
- Move the table to the desired height. The display shows the Table Top height (e.g., 73 cm).
- Press the SAVE Key.
- Press the desired Memory Position Key (e.g., [Key 2]). The display shows "S 2". After approximately two seconds, the Table Top height is displayed again.
7.3 Adjusting the Table to a Memory Position
Version A (without double-click function):
- Press and hold the required Memory Position Key (e.g., [Key 2]). The Table Top will move to the saved height. Releasing the key stops the table.
- Release the Memory Position Key. The display shows the Table Top height (e.g., 73 cm).
Version B (Auto-Movement with double-click function):
INFO: The double-click function is available only for Table Systems sold in US markets.
INFO: Pressing any key while the table moves to a Memory Position will stop it. Select the Memory Position again to continue.
CAUTION: Risk of minor or moderate injury through unauthorized modifications
Activating the double-click function deactivates safety grading according to EN ISO 13849-1 PL b, Category B. If activated, perform a new risk assessment to meet higher safety requirements (EN 60335-1). LOGICDATA is not liable for injuries or damage caused by activating this function.
- Double-click the required Memory Position Key (e.g., [Key 2]). The table moves to the Memory Position without needing to hold the key. The display shows the Table Top height (e.g., 73 cm).
7.4 Key Lock
CAUTION: Risk of minor or moderate injury through uncontrolled movement
Pressing the Handset too forcefully when activating the Key Lock may cause unexpected table movement. Do not press forcefully while activating. Ensure the Handset is turned on; press any key to activate a locked Handset.
INFO: The Key Lock is standard on certain TOUCHfx and TOUCHdown models; it can be activated via parameterization on others. Check the Order Code. Key Lock is not available for TOUCHfx-KM or TOUCHinlay-KM.
Activating the Key Lock prevents accidental table movement. It can be activated/deactivated by swiping across the bottom edge or horizontally across the left/right side of the Handset. The display must be active; press any key to activate an inactive display.

7.5 Operation: Notes for TOUCHdown
The following information applies only to the TOUCHdown Handset.
7.5.1 Push-Push Function
NOTICE: Ensure a 10 cm Cable Loop is routed (Chapter 6.3.2, Fig. 12) to avoid product damage.
The Push-Push Function allows the TOUCHdown to slide underneath the table when not in use and move outwards to the operating position when needed.
- To move the TOUCHdown into the operation position:
- Push the Handset towards the Table Top and release. It will click when unlocked.
- Allow the Handset to slide out from underneath the table.
NOTICE: Do not pull on the Handset while moving it to the operation position to avoid product damage.
- To stow the TOUCHdown underneath the table:
- Lift the control panel gently upwards until it is level with its housing.
- Push towards the table top until the Handset clicks into position.
7.5.2 Mechanical Release
If excessive force is applied to the Control Panel, it will release automatically from its housing to prevent system damage.
- To re-attach the Control Panel:
- Align the springs on the Control Panel with the housing's sliding mechanism.
- Push the outer edges of the Control Panel firmly towards the housing to click it back into place.
8 Additional Information
8.1 Software-Dependent Functions
A full list of Software-Dependent Functions can be found in the Operating Manual of the installed Control Box.
8.2 Disassembly
To disassemble your Handset, disconnect it from the Power Unit and follow the assembly instructions in reverse order.
8.3 Maintenance
All Handsets in the TOUCH Family are maintenance-free.
WARNING: Risk of death or serious injury through electric shocks and other hazards
Using unauthorized spare or accessory parts may lead to injury or death. Only use parts produced or approved by LOGICDATA. Only allow Skilled Persons to perform repairs or install accessory parts. Contact customer services immediately if the system malfunctions. Use of unauthorized parts voids warranty claims.
8.3.1 Cleaning
- Disconnect the height-adjustable desk's power supply.
- Wait 30 seconds for residual voltage to dissipate.
- Wipe the Handset surface with a dry soft cloth or a soft cloth lightly moistened in water. Never immerse the Handset in liquid.
- Wait for the Handset to dry completely.
- Reconnect the power supply.
8.3.2 Replacing a Handset
- Disconnect the Control Box from the Mains.
- Disconnect the Handset from the Control Box.
- Remove the Handset from the Table Top.
- Mount the new Handset onto the Table Top.
- Plug the Handset back into the Control Box.
- Reconnect the Control Box to the Mains.
8.4 Troubleshooting
Malfunctions often occur when Handsets are pressed during calibration. If the Handset fails to function, restart the system:
- Unplug the Handset from the Control Box.
- Plug the Handset back into the motor Control Box.
- After a few seconds, the Handset will be ready for operation.

8.5 Disposal
All products in the TOUCH Family are subject to the WEEE Directive 2012/19/EU.
- Dispose of all components separately from household waste. Use designated collection points or authorized disposal companies. ☠
