Safety Instructions

General

  • Do not use the device in direct proximity to strong magnetic fields, such as electrostatic or electromagnetic fields (e.g., induction hobs, microwave ovens, television or computer screens, game consoles, mobile phones, radio equipment). Their electromagnetic field can interfere with image recording.
  • Image recording may be disturbed if the device is placed on a television or used in close proximity to a television or mobile phones.
  • Strong magnetic fields, e.g., from loudspeakers or large electric motors, can lead to data corruption or image quality degradation.
  • Do not use the device in close proximity to radio transmitters or high-voltage lines. Their electromagnetic field can also interfere with image recording.
  • Do not attempt to remove parts of the casing (covers). Qualified repairs may only be performed at authorized service centers.
  • Protect the device from contact with insecticide sprays and other aggressive chemicals. Do not use paint thinner (cleaning solvent), thinner, or alcohol for cleaning. Some chemicals and liquids can damage the device casing or its surface finish.
  • Keep the device out of reach of small children.
  • Do not look into the eyepiece while walking. This may result in a fall.
  • Do not disassemble or modify the device; exposing the internal electronics can cause damage or electric shock.

Eyepiece

  • When sunlight falls directly on the eyepiece from the front, it acts like a magnifying glass. For this reason, the device must not be exposed to strong sunlight. Placing it in the shade or ideally in its case will prevent damage to the interior of the device.

Sensor

  • Cosmic radiation (e.g., during flight) can cause pixel defects.

Carrying Strap

  • After attaching the carrying strap, ensure its fasteners are correctly secured to prevent the device from falling.
  • Carrying straps are usually made of very flexible material. For this reason, do not leave them within reach of children. They are not intended for play and pose a risk of strangulation for children.
  • Use carrying straps only as straps. Using them for other purposes poses a risk of injury and can lead to damage to the carrying strap.
  • Carrying straps should not be worn on cameras or binoculars during sports activities. In such cases, there is a risk of entanglement (e.g., when rock climbing and similar sports activities).

Important Warnings

  • Do not attempt to disassemble the device. Repairs should only be carried out by authorized repair shops.
  • Do not touch glass surfaces with fingers, especially if you have previously treated them with hand cream, insect repellent, or similar products. These products may contain chemicals that damage or destroy the surface finish of glass surfaces.
  • Protect the device from all impacts not caused by a weapon.
  • Note down your device's serial number, as it is very important in case of loss.

Warranty

In addition to the statutory warranty periods provided by your dealer, you receive warranty service for this Leica product from Leica Camera AG for 3 years in accordance with the following provisions. The Leica warranty therefore does not limit the consumer's statutory rights under applicable national laws or the consumer's rights against the dealer under the mutually concluded purchase agreement.

Warranty Provisions

By purchasing this Leica thermal imaging camera, you have acquired a product that has been manufactured according to special quality guidelines and tested by experienced specialists at various stages of production. We provide a three-year warranty for this product from the date of sale by an authorized dealer under the following conditions:

  1. In case of a claim due to a manufacturing defect, we cover all material costs for the entire warranty period. At our discretion, we will repair the defective product, replace defective parts, or replace the entire product with a similar defect-free product. Further claims of any kind and for any legal reason in connection with this warranty are excluded.
  2. The warranty does not cover wear parts such as eyecups, leather, armor, carrying straps, and accessories. This also applies to surface damage.
  3. Claims for warranty service are void if the defect is caused by improper handling - which may include the use of third-party accessories - intervention by unauthorized persons or services, or if the serial number is unrecognizable.
  4. Warranty claims can only be made upon presentation of the original invoice - with date of purchase, address, and signature of an authorized specialist dealer.
  5. In case of a warranty claim, send the product along with the original invoice and a description of the claim to the Customer Care service department of Leica Camera AG or to a Leica representative in your country.

Leica Calonox models are protected against splashing water (IPX5).

The device has been tested under controlled laboratory conditions and is classified according to DIN EN 60529 under IPX5.

Please note: Protection is not permanent and decreases over time. The warranty does not cover damage caused by liquids. Opening the device by unauthorized dealers or service partners leads to loss of warranty.

Their service number +49 6441 2080-189 is available for consultation. Care/Cleaning

  • Leica products do not require any special care.
  • Coarse dirt particles, such as sand, should be removed with a brush or blown off.
  • Fingerprints and similar dirt on the objective and eyepiece lenses can be pre-cleaned with a damp cloth and wiped with a soft, clean leather or dust-free cloth.
  • The device should be stored in a well-ventilated, dry, and cool place, especially to prevent mold growth in humid environments.
  • Alcohol or other chemical solutions must not be used for cleaning optics or the casing.
  • Do not apply strong pressure when wiping even heavily soiled lens surfaces. Although the surface coating is highly abrasion-resistant, it can be damaged by sand or salt crystals.
  • The casing should only be cleaned with a damp cloth. Using dry cloths carries the risk of static charge.
  • Salt water must always be rinsed off! Dried salt crystals could otherwise damage the surface layers.
