Setting Up the Planetarium Projector
- Open the battery cover at the bottom of the unit and insert 3 AA size batteries. Refer to the “Battery Installation Section”. Replace battery cover firmly.
- Place the unit on its stand (15) on a flat, stable platform. The optimum projection distance is about 1.8m to 2m (6 to 6.5 ft.). Diagram Description: Shows the projector on its stand with an arrow indicating the optimal projection distance of 1.8m-2.0m.
- Press the Slide Tray Eject Button (7) to open the tray and install a star disc (16). Note: The keys on the disc must match the ridges on the tray.
- While the slide tray is open, set the time and date of the night sky you wish to view by aligning the desired date on the Date Dial with the desired hour on the Time Scale. Diagram Description: Shows the Time Scale and Date Dial interface on the projector, with labels pointing to each.
- Close the tray. Ensure you are facing north when viewing the projector from the front. Do not turn the Date Dial when the tray is closed; open it again to adjust the date, or use the Rotate Left (8) or Rotate Right (5) buttons while the unit is on.
- Press the ON/STOP/OFF switch (1) to turn on the projector light. Dim or turn off room lights for the best visual experience. The unit cannot be turned on with the tray open.
- Adjust the projection angle of the head over the stand (15) to suit viewing on the ceiling or sidewall.
- Adjust the focus dial (14) until the projected star field is sharp. The optimum projection distance is 1.8m to 2m. The image will blur if the distance is too near or too far.
Time Scale and Date Dial Explained
Time Scale (Fixed): Displays time from 20:00 (8 p.m.) to 02:00 (2 a.m.). Align the Date Dial with it to project stars at a specific time. Each subdivision represents 30 minutes. Diagram Description: Shows a time scale with markings for 30-minute intervals.
Date Dial (Adjustable): Covers 365 days. Adjust to project stars for a particular date. Each subdivision equals 2 days; the long mark indicates the last day of the previous month. Diagram Description: Shows a date dial with month labels (e.g., APR, MAY) and day markings.
Example 1: To see the star pattern at midnight (00:00) on July 7th, align 00:00 on the time scale with July 7th. The date 7th will be positioned between the markings for the 6th and 8th.
Example 2: To see the star pattern at 22:30 (10:30 p.m.) on December 30th, align 22:30 on the time scale with December 30th. The small marking represents 3 days, so the 30th would be at 2/3 of the marking. This setting applies to January, March, May, July, August, and October. February 28th and 29th share the same mark.
Using the Star Motion Function
- Press the Rotate Left Button (8) to rotate the night sky anticlockwise (Northern hemisphere star motion). Press again to increase speed (five speeds available). The Rotate Left Indicator (9) blinks according to speed. Press the ON/STOP/OFF button to stop.
- Press the Rotate Right Button (5) to rotate stars clockwise (Southern hemisphere star motion). Five speeds are selectable.
Using the Shooting Star Function
When the night sky is rotating, press the Shooting Star Button (10) to enable the shooting star function. Shooting stars appear at intervals, more frequently at higher rotation speeds. Press the button again to disable.
Using the Timer Function
Press the Sleep Timer button (2) for 30 or 60 minute sleep timer. The corresponding LED indicator shows the selected timer. To disable, press the button until indicators (3,4) are off. The projector automatically turns off in 2 hours to conserve battery.
