*For reverse charging, connect the black end to your phone and the gray end to the gimbal. For AI tracker updates, connect the gray end to your phone and the black end to the gimbal. It's recommended to update it through the Hohem Joy app.

03 Charging
Please fully charge the iSteady M7 before first use.
Charging Method:
Use the provided USB-Type C charging cable to connect to the Type-C charging port on the gimbal handle. A 5V-3A USB charger (not included) is recommended.
Charging Display: The battery is fully charged when the battery levels reach the highest point on the display.
Reverse Charging (DC out charging for smartphones):
Connect the charging cable to the Type-C reverse charging port on the tilt arm. When the gimbal is powered off, press the power button once to start charging your smartphone.
Tips:
- Use the Type-C to Type-C cable for reverse charging. Connect the black end to your phone and the gray end to the gimbal. If your phone has a Lightning connector, use your own Type-C to Lightning cable.
- When the gimbal is powered off, press the power button once to start charging your smartphone.
04 Mounting & Powering On
Compatible smartphones: Less than 7 inches, weight ≤ 500g, width 58mm-90mm, thickness < 12.5mm.
Tripod Installation & Axes Unlocking
- Attach the tripod to the bottom of the handle. Unfold the tripod and place the gimbal on a flat surface.
- Each axis (Roll, Tilt, Pan) has a lock for storage and setup. Unlock as shown.
Mounting & Balancing
Landscape Mode:
- Attach the phone clamp to the center of the phone, ensuring it is snug against the clamp and motor. For landscape shooting, position the phone's camera on the left.
- Unlock the roll arm latch and adjust the arm until the phone is steady and level. Tighten the latch.
Portrait Mode:
- Rotate the phone clamp by 90° to the left.
- Attach your mobile phone with the camera positioned on top.
- Adjust the roll arm until the phone is steady and level.
Quick Switch to Portrait Mode:
Hold the gimbal vertically, tilt the handle until the smartphone switches to portrait mode. Slowly rotate the handle horizontally.
Note: In portrait mode, the joystick only controls left/right rotation. Quick switch to vertical mode is not supported in POV mode.
Powering On & Standby
Ensure all axis locks are unlocked before use.
- Powering On: Long press the shutter button (when remote is attached) or the power button (when remote is detached) for 3 seconds. Long press the shutter button on the remote to power it on separately.
- Standby: Double press the power button to enter standby mode. Double press again to wake the gimbal.
Ultra-Wide-Angle Mode:
Default mode has no obstruction in front of the phone screen. In ultra-wide-angle mode, the roll motor shifts to the front side to avoid appearing in shots.
05 Bluetooth Connection
1. Ensure the gimbal is powered on.
2. Activate Bluetooth on your smartphone and select "iM7-XXXXXXX" from the available devices.
3. Follow on-screen instructions to connect and pair.
4. A steady Bluetooth indicator light signifies a successful connection.
Unable to find gimbal or connected to another phone?
Clear the gimbal's Bluetooth information by pressing the side roller seven times. The Bluetooth icon will indicate the clearing. Then, follow the connection instructions to reconnect.
06 Usage Modes
The iSteady M7 offers three main usage modes: Handheld Mode, Extended Mode, and Remote Mode.
Handheld Mode:
Simply hold the gimbal for on-the-go shooting.
Extended Mode:
Pull out the built-in extension pole upwards for shooting. The extension rod has five segments with a maximum length of 193mm.
Remote Mode:
Attach the tripod to the handle, stand the gimbal on a flat surface, and remove the remote controller for remote shooting. Ensure the remote controller is connected to the gimbal (green light indicates connection).
07 Button & Port Functions
Refer to the QR code for video tutorials or visit www.hohem.com.
- Power Button: Long press for On/Off. Single press for reverse charging (in power off state). Double press to enter/exit standby mode. Press five times for auto gimbal calibration.
- Trigger: Single press to start/pause/resume Al tracking or recenter the gimbal. Double press to recenter. Triple press for forward/backward camera position. Press four times for Ultra-Wide-Angle Mode. Press and hold for All Lock Mode. Single press + hold for Sports Mode.
- Side Roller: Press to select function, rotate wheel for adjustment. Functions include Fill Light Control (brightness/color, CCT/RGB), Motor Control (select motor, switch pan/tilt/roll), and Focus Control (select focus, switch focus/motor).
- A-B Button: Set starting (A) and ending (B) points for track shooting or time-lapse. Long press A to set position A, long press B to set position B. Single press A returns to A, double press B starts A-B motion. Single press B returns to B, double press A starts B-A motion. Duration can be customized in the Hohem Joy app or touchscreen.
- Charging Port (Type C): Connect to a power source to charge the gimbal.
- Reverse Charging Port (Type C): Connect a charging cable to provide reverse charging for your mobile device.
- 1/4"-20 UNC Port: For connecting tripods, extension poles, microphones, or fill lights.
- Sling Handgrip Port: For installing the mounting plate of the Hohem sling handgrip.
08 Working Modes
The iSteady M7 features three axes of rotation: pan, tilt, and roll. These axes enable four operation modes:
- Pan Follow (PF): Pan axis is active, allowing smooth left/right movement while maintaining steady tilt and roll.
- Pan and Tilt Follow (PTF): Pan and Tilt axes are active, following operator's movements for dynamic framing. Roll axis remains locked.
- Point of View (POV): All three axes are active, following all operator movements for a first-person perspective.
- Custom: Allows custom follow modes for each axis, including All Lock Mode (disables all axis following).
- Sport Mode (S): Increased follow speed for capturing fast-moving subjects and action.
- Inception Mode (ICP): 360° infinite spin on the pan axis for artistic shots.
Manual Tilt Adjustment:
The tilt motor can be rotated by hand. Hold for 2 seconds to fix the camera angle.
09 AI Tracking
Mount and Turn On AI Tracker:
- Attach the magnetic AI tracker, aligning it with the magnetic mount.
- Toggle the switch to "ON". The fill light flashes twice quickly upon activation. Toggle to "OFF" to turn off the AI Tracker.
Gesture Control (Only for Person):
Show gestures to the AI Tracker from 0.5m-5m (1.64ft-16.40ft) away.
- Start AI Tracking: Show gesture.
- Stop AI Tracking: Show gesture.
- Shutter Control: Requires Bluetooth connection.
- Customized Composition: To adjust your position for dynamic effects: Ensure Al tracking is enabled (solid green indicator). Show gesture (indicator blinks green). Move to preferred position. Show gesture again to confirm.
Touchscreen Control (For Any Subject):
- Enter Real-Time Preview: Swipe right on the homepage.
- Tracking Method 1 (Double Tap): Double tap the tracking target.
- Tracking Method 2 (Drag Selection): Drag-select the tracking target. Single press the side button/trigger to start tracking.
- Tips: Single press side button/trigger to pause/resume Al tracking. Triple tap screen to stop Al tracking.
How to Perform AI Tracking Calibration?
To align controller and phone displays: Long press the side button to enter calibration. Use the joystick to adjust the controller's display. Long press the side button again to confirm and exit.
Front/Rear Tracking:
Press and hold safety locks on both sides of the phone clamp. Remove the Al tracker, rotate it 180°, and remount it.
Caution: Attempting to remove the Al tracker without unlocking may cause damage. The pogo pins at the bottom may become hot during use; avoid direct contact.
10 Buttons on Remote
Note: The remote control powers on and pairs automatically when attached to the gimbal. If detached, it needs separate power-on and will auto-pair.
- Side Button: Single press for Al tracking (start/pause/resume) or recenter. Double press to recenter. Triple press for camera position. Press four times for Ultra-Wide-Angle Mode. Press five times to re-pair remote. Press seven times to clear connection. Long press for Al tracking calibration.
- Mode Button: Single press to switch working mode. Triple press for 360° infinite pan rotation. Press five times for auto gimbal calibration.
- Zoom Lever: Lever up/down to zoom in/out.
- Shutter Button: Half-press for auto focus. Single press to take photo/start/stop recording. Double press for photo/video switch. Triple press for front/rear camera switch. Long press to power the remote on/off.
- Joystick: Push up/down for tilt, left/right for pan. In Al tracking calibration mode, use the joystick to adjust the preview frame.
Note: Some functions require the Hohem Joy app and Bluetooth connection.
11 Touchscreen Interface
Status Bar:
Displays Bluetooth Connection status (Connected/Disconnected), Al Tracking status (On/Pause/Stop), Remote Connection status (Connected), Gimbal Battery level (<75%, <50%, <25%, Shutting down soon), and Remote Controller Battery level.
Homepage:
Provides access to Roller Control, Motor Balance, Gimbal Working Mode Scenarios (Inception, Ultra-Wide-Angle, Panorama, Motion Timelapse), Joystick Setting, A/B Setting, Follow Speed, and More Settings.
Real-Time Preview:
Swipe right on the homepage to enter the real-time Al tracking preview.

13 Hohem Joy App
Downloading:
Scan the QR code or search "Hohem Joy" in the App Store / Google Play to download the App.
Gimbal Connection:
- Attach your smartphone and turn on iSteady M7.
- Turn on Bluetooth on your smartphone.
- Open the Hohem Joy App and follow on-screen instructions to complete the connection.
Camera Interface:
The camera interface may change due to app updates. Key functions include:
- Shooting Parameters: Set shutter speed, ISO, and EV.
- Resolution and Frame Rate: Set resolution and video frame rate.
- Flash: Adjust flash settings.
- General Settings: Configure gimbal parameters (startup mode), camera parameters, and gimbal information.
- Creative Studio: Provides shooting tutorials and ideas.
- Filter: Select photo or video filters.
- Beauty: Select beauty modes (auto, slim face, big eyes).
- Gesture Control: Enables person tracking and shutter control. Object tracking can be done by drag-selecting the target on the phone screen.
- Moment Templates: Use various video templates for automatic video creation.

14 Auto Calibration & Firmware Update
Auto Calibration:
Auto calibration reduces drift or deviation caused by magnetic interference or human error.
- Place the gimbal on a hard, flat surface after setup and powering on.
- Press the trigger button twice to recenter the gimbal.
- Press the Mode button (M) five times to enter auto calibration.
- A single "beep" indicates calibration completion.
Note: Ensure the remote control is connected during calibration. Calibration may fail if the gimbal is not on a flat surface. If calibration fails (two beeps, pulsing indicators), double-tap the power button to exit standby and retry.
Firmware Update:
The Hohem Joy App will notify you of available firmware updates. Follow the on-screen instructions in the App to update.
