3. Setup
AC Power
The Geyser P5 operates with a fixed voltage power supply and can work with input voltage ranges of either 120 VAC, 60 Hz or 230 VAC, 50 Hz, depending on the specific model.
To determine the product's power requirements, refer to the current value on the product's back panel label or the specifications chart. The current rating indicates the product's average current draw under normal conditions.
- ⚠️ Always connect the product to a protected circuit (circuit breaker or fuse) with proper electrical ground to avoid the risk of electrocution or fire.
- ℹ️ To eliminate unnecessary wear and improve lifespan, disconnect the product from power during periods of non-use via breaker or by unplugging it.
ℹ️ Never connect the product to a rheostat (variable resistor) or dimmer circuit, even if the rheostat or dimmer channel serves only as a 0 to 100% switch.
Fuse Replacement
- Disconnect the product from power.
- Wedge the tip of a flat-head screwdriver into the slot of the fuse holder.
- Pry the fuse holder out of the housing.
- Remove the blown fuse and replace it with a fuse of the exact same type and rating.
- Insert the fuse holder back in place and reconnect power.
Diagrams show the fuse holder and safety cap.
- ⚠️ Disconnect the product from the power outlet before replacing the fuse.
- ⚠️ Always replace a blown fuse with one of the same type and rating.
- ℹ️ While operating the Geyser P5, ensure adequate fog fluid to prevent pump and heater damage. Add more fog fluid when the level becomes low.
- ⚠️ This product may NOT be tilted. It should be level when on a surface.
Mounting
Before mounting, read and follow the safety recommendations in the Safety Notes.
Orientation
The Geyser P5 can be mounted upright, inverted overhead, or sideways with the fluid tank cap oriented up. Always position the fluid tank with its cap in the uppermost position, above the fog fluid line. Ensure adequate ventilation around the product.
Inverting the Tank
To invert the fluid tank to prevent leaking or spilling when mounting in an inverted position, follow these steps:
- Remove the thumbscrew from the fluid tank bracket and 3 spare screws around the fluid tank.
- Slide the fluid tank bracket out of the slot.
- Pull the fluid tank out and set it on a flat surface.
- Detach the fluid tank plate by removing 4 screws.
- Install the fluid tank plate to the opposite side with the 4 screws.
- Install the 3 spare screws in the indicated threaded holes.
- Insert the fluid tank and slide the end of the fluid tank bracket with no hole into the slot.
- Secure the fluid tank bracket with the thumbscrew.
Diagrams illustrate the steps for inverting the tank.
Rigging
- Before choosing a location, ensure easy access for maintenance and programming.
- Verify that the structure and attachment points can support the product's weight (refer to Technical Specifications).
- When mounting overhead, always use a safety cable and mount securely to a rigging point (e.g., elevated platform, truss).
- When rigging onto a truss, use a mounting clamp of appropriate weight capacity. The product has 2 10-mm threaded mounting holes for this purpose.
- When mounting on the floor, keep the product and cables away from people and vehicles.
A diagram illustrates surface, overhead, and sideways mounting options, showing the use of safety cables and mounting clamps.
- ℹ️ To prevent leaking or spilling, always position the fluid tank with its cap in the uppermost position, above the fog fluid line.
- ⚠️ Do not fill the fluid tank to the cap when mounted horizontally.

5. Maintenance
Product Maintenance
Dust build-up reduces light output performance and can cause overheating, leading to reduced light source life and/or mechanical wear. To maintain optimum performance and minimize wear, clean all lighting products at least twice a month. Usage and environmental conditions may necessitate more frequent cleaning.
To clean the product:
- Unplug the product from power.
- Wait until the product is at room temperature.
- Use a vacuum (or dry compressed air) and a soft brush to remove dust from external surfaces/vents.
- Clean all transparent surfaces with a mild soap solution, ammonia-free glass cleaner, or isopropyl alcohol.
- Apply the solution to a soft, lint-free cotton cloth or a lens cleaning tissue.
- Gently move any dirt or grime to the outside of the transparent surface.
- Gently polish the transparent surfaces until they are free of haze and lint.
- ℹ️ Always dry the transparent surfaces carefully after cleaning them.
- ⚠️ Do not spin the fans using compressed air, as they could be damaged.
Fog Machine Maintenance
Proper maintenance of Chauvet atmospheric products increases reliability and lifespan. Maintenance should be completed every 30-90 days, depending on product usage frequency.
- ℹ️ When performing maintenance, use Chauvet Fog Cleaner (FCQ) for U.S. or Cleaning Fluid 250 (CF250) for EU products. Run the fluid through the system to reduce particulate matter accumulation in the heating element.
- ⚠️ DO NOT allow the atmospheric product to become clogged. Once clogged, cleaning is unlikely to be effective.
The recommended cleaning procedure:
- Unplug the product from power.
- Remove the hose from the fluid tank/reservoir. Remove the FCQ/CF250 screw cap and place the hose in the Fog Cleaner bottle.
- Connect the product to power and allow it to warm up (if not already warmed up).
- Run FCQ/CF250 through the product in a well-ventilated area for 60-90 seconds of continuous, full output. Some products may require multiple cycles.
- ⚠️ DO NOT allow the product to run dry!
- ℹ️ Move the hose from FCQ/CF250 to a small bottle with distilled water (only use distilled water, not tap or other water/liquid). Run distilled water through the product for at least 30 seconds to clear any remaining cleaning solution from the pump and heater.
- ⚠️ Turn off the product when not in use or when storing.
- ⚠️ DO NOT leave the cleaning solution in the product.
- ⚠️ DO NOT operate the product without fluid at any time.
- ⚠️ DO NOT leave Chauvet atmospheric fluid in the product tank/reservoir for more than 10 days without use.
FCQ/CF250 were specifically developed by Chauvet to clean Chauvet atmospheric products with heaters. Use FCQ/CF250 regularly, no longer than 90 days between cleanings (30-60 days if used more frequently), to prevent shortening the product's life.
Storage
Before storing, run FCQ/CF250 through the system as described in the cleaning procedure. Do not refill the tank with atmospheric fluid before storing.
ℹ️ Test-run Chauvet atmospheric products monthly for best performance.
Chauvet does not guarantee products will withstand storage for long durations, even if the cleaning process is followed. Use caution and test regularly to ensure continued proper function.
