Congratulations
You have purchased a DigiTech digital effect pedal.
Digital pedals have limited battery life due to constant power draw. For demonstration and practice, battery use is suggested. If the LED brightness changes or the pedal fails to switch between Bypass and Effect, replace the 9-Volt battery or obtain a power adapter from a DigiTech dealer.

Setup
Amplifier Setup
Standard Setup: Connect your guitar to the pedal's Input 1 (Mono). Connect the pedal's Output 1 (Mono) to your amplifier's input. An optional Harman Power Supply can be connected to the pedal.
Stereo Setup: Connect your guitar to Input 1 (Mono). Connect Output 1 (Mono) to one amplifier and Output 2 to a second amplifier for true stereo separation.
Effects Loop Setup
Connect your guitar to the pedal's Input 1 (Mono). Connect the pedal's Output 1 (Mono) to your amplifier's effects return (AMP RETURN). Connect your amplifier's effects send (AMP SEND) to the pedal's Input 2.
Note: If your amplifier's effects loop has a mix control, set it to 100% full wet.
Pedal Interface
Diagram shows the top and side views of the HardWire SP-7 Stereo Phaser with controls and jacks labeled:
Controls (Top Panel):
- 1. Speed Knob: Controls LFO speed. Clockwise increases speed, counter-clockwise decreases speed.
- 2. DC Adapter Jack: Connects to the optional Harman power supply. Use the correct voltage for your region.
- 3. Depth Knob: Controls effect intensity. Clockwise for deep sound, counter-clockwise for subtle sound.
- 4. Modify Knob: Controls various settings based on the selected Type. Refer to the Modify Knob Controls table.
- 5. Type Knob: Selects one of the 7 Phaser types.
Jacks and Features (Side/Rear Panel):
- 6. Input 1 (Mono): Primary input. Signals are sent to both outputs when only this input is used. Connecting a guitar cable here also powers the pedal via battery (even if the LED is off). Disconnect cables when not in use to save battery.
- 7. Input 2: Connect for stereo operation. Inputs 1 and 2 are processed and sent to Outputs 1 and 2, maintaining stereo separation.
- 8. Foot Switch Release Pins: Spring-loaded pins that hold the pedal chassis. Push with a 1/4" guitar cable tip to release the pedal chassis and access the battery compartment.
- 9. Indicator LED: Shows if the effect is on or off. Blinks when battery power is low (approx. 15 minutes remaining).
- 10. Foot Switch: Toggles the effect on and off.
- 11. Output 1 (Mono): Connect to a single guitar amplifier input, another pedal input, or an amp effects return.
- 12. Output 2: Connect to a second guitar amplifier for stereo use.
Note: Use unbalanced mono instrument cables only.
Phaser Types
- 2 Stage: Subtle phase effect with adjustable bias control.
- 4 Stage: Classic 4 Stage vintage phaser.
- Modern: Deep phaser with enhanced feedback and modulation.
- Boutique: Unique 6 Stage phaser with deep feedback control.
- 10 Stage: Modern multi-stage phaser with flexible feedback/depth controls.
- Envelope: Triggered phaser where the LFO start point can be retriggered with playing dynamics.
- Dynamic: Phaser where the Depth is controlled using playing dynamics.

Tap Tempo
The Foot Switch can be used as a Tap Tempo switch to set the phaser's modulation speed during live performance.
To access Tap Tempo:
- Press and hold the Pedal Switch for 3 seconds. The effect turns on, and the Indicator LED lights solid BLUE. (If the effect was already on, it turns off then back on.)
- After 3 seconds, the Indicator LED flashes BLUE, indicating Tap Tempo mode is active, flashing at the current modulation speed.
- Tap the Foot Switch at least twice to set a new modulation speed. The last two tap intervals determine the speed. The function times out after 4 seconds; tap twice again to set the tempo.
- To exit Tap Tempo, press and hold the Foot Switch for 3 seconds until the Indicator LED stops flashing and lights solid BLUE. The tapped modulation speed remains active until the Type is changed or the Speed knob is used.
Performance Accessories
These accessories help integrate the HardWire pedal into a pedalboard:
- Hook-and-loop Pedalboard Pad: Designed for attachment to most commercial pedalboards.
- Foot Switch Glow Sticker: Enhances visibility on dark stages.
- StompLock™: Secures your knob settings.
Attaching the Hook-and-loop Pedalboard Pad:
- Peel off the existing rubber skid pad from the bottom of the pedal.
- Peel the adhesive protector from the back of the Pedalboard Pad.
- Apply the Pedalboard Pad to the bottom of the pedal.
Attaching the Foot Switch Glow Sticker:
- Peel the adhesive backing from the Foot Switch Glow Sticker.
- Apply the Glow Sticker to the top of the Foot Switch.
Using the StompLock:
- Set the knobs to your preferred setting.
- Gently push the StompLock over the top of the knobs.
- To remove, gently lift one side, then the other.
Battery Operation
If battery power depletes, HardWire pedals automatically switch to bypass, eliminating the need to remove the pedal from your chain.
To replace the battery:
- Using the tip of a 1/4" guitar cable, push one of the Release Pins on either side of the Foot Switch to remove the pedal chassis.
- Remove the old battery and disconnect its cable.
- Connect a new battery and place it in the compartment. Ensure the battery cable does not interfere with the spring or pedal switch arm.
- Place one hole of the Foot Switch over its corresponding pin.
- Push the opposite pin in and lower the other side of the Foot Switch into place over the depressed pin. Release the pin. Both release pins should be flush with the outer side of the pedal when properly fastened.
