Step 8: Attach Push Bar Top & Tighten Screws
Set the Push Bar Top (110) onto the Push Bar Bottom (109). Finger tighten six #8 x 5/8" Machine Screws (106). Use the offset screwdriver to finish tightening these screws. The two outer screws on the Push Bar Bottom (109) can be tightened with a Phillips screwdriver. Tighten all eight screws from steps 6 and 7.
Step 9: Install Upright Covers
Slide the Right Inside Upright Cover (70) against the lower end of the right Upright (83). Press the Right Outside Upright Cover (71) against the inside cover until it snaps into place. Ensure wires (E) are not pinched. Attach Left Inside and Outside Upright Covers similarly.
Step 10: Position and Level Trainer
If necessary, move the incline trainer to its desired location (see HOW TO MOVE THE INCLINE TRAINER on page 28). Ensure the trainer rests firmly on the floor. If it rocks, adjust the Leveling Foot (77) until the rocking motion is eliminated.
Step 11: Final Tightening & Placement
Ensure all parts are properly tightened before use. Keep hex keys secure. Use one hex key to adjust the walking belt (see page 30). Place a mat under the incline trainer to protect the floor. Keep the trainer out of direct sunlight to avoid console damage.
The Chest Heart Rate Monitor
How to Put On the Heart Rate Monitor:
Refer to drawing 1 or 2 for your model. Press the transmitter onto snap fasteners or insert the tab into the transmitter end. Wrap the monitor around your chest, under clothes, tight against skin, with the logo right-side-up. Attach the other end of the chest strap and adjust length. Pull the transmitter and strap away slightly, locate electrode areas (G), wet them with saliva or lens solution, and return to chest position.
Care and Maintenance:
- Thoroughly dry electrode areas after each use to prevent premature battery drain.
- Store in a warm, dry place, away from moisture.
- Do not expose to direct sunlight or extreme temperatures (above 122°F/50°C or below 14°F/-10°C).
- Do not excessively bend or stretch.
- Clean transmitter with a damp cloth and mild soap; dry thoroughly. Never use alcohol, abrasives, or chemicals. Hand wash and air dry the chest strap.
Troubleshooting:
- If the monitor doesn't function, move it slightly higher or lower on your chest.
- If readings only appear after perspiring, re-wet electrode areas.
- Ensure you are within arm's length of the console for readings.
- Replace the transmitter battery if applicable.
- Note: The monitor is designed for normal heart rhythms. Medical conditions (PVCs, tachycardia, arrhythmia) may affect readings. Magnetic interference from power lines can also affect operation.
How to Use the Incline Trainer
How to Connect the Power Cord
Use a Surge Suppressor: To protect against voltage surges, spikes, and noise, always use a UL 1449 listed transient voltage surge suppressor (TVSS) with a rating of 400 volts or less and a minimum surge dissipation of 450 joules. It must be rated for 120 volts AC and 15 amps, with a monitoring light. Failure to do so may damage the control system and cause injury.
Plug in the Power Cord: The incline trainer must be grounded. Use the provided plug with a grounding pin. DANGER: Improper connection increases electric shock risk. Do not modify the plug. If it doesn't fit an outlet, have a qualified electrician install a proper outlet. If unsure about grounding, contact an electrician.
Plug the power cord into the surge suppressor, and the suppressor into a properly installed and grounded outlet (120-volt circuit, 15+ amps). Avoid overloading the circuit by not plugging other devices into the suppressor or same circuit, except for low-power chargers. If using an AFCI outlet and the breaker trips, an arc filter may be needed (see front cover).
A temporary 2-pole receptacle adapter can be used if a grounded outlet is unavailable, but it must be connected to a permanent ground (e.g., outlet box cover) via a metal screw. Consult an electrician before using an adapter.
Console Features
The advanced incline trainer console offers a selection of features designed to make your workouts more effective and enjoyable.
The console features wireless technology for connecting to iFit, providing access to a vast workout library, custom workout creation, result tracking, and more. In manual mode, you can adjust speed and incline with button touches, and the console displays instant feedback. Heart rate can be measured using the chest heart rate monitor.
Additionally, the console includes pre-programmed workouts that automatically control speed and incline. You can also listen to music or audiobooks via the console's sound system.

Exercise Guidelines
❗ WARNING: Before beginning this or any exercise program, consult your physician. This is especially important for persons over age 35 or persons with pre-existing health problems.
The heart rate monitor is not a medical device. Various factors may affect accuracy; it's an exercise aid for trends.
These guidelines help plan your program. For detailed info, consult a book or physician. Proper nutrition and rest are essential.
Exercise Intensity
Exercising at the proper intensity is key for fat burning or cardiovascular strengthening. Use your heart rate as a guide.
Heart Rate Chart: (Ages rounded to nearest ten years at bottom)
165 | 155 | 145 | 140 | 130 | 125 | 115 |
145 | 138 | 130 | 125 | 118 | 110 | 103 |
125 | 120 | 115 | 110 | 105 | 95 | 90 |
20 | 30 | 40 | 50 | 60 | 70 | 80 |
The three numbers above your age define your "training zone": lowest for fat burning, middle for maximum fat burning, highest for aerobic exercise.
Training Zone Descriptions
Burning Fat: Exercise at low intensity for a sustained period. After initial carbohydrate use, the body uses stored fat. Adjust intensity to be near the lowest number in your training zone. For maximum fat burning, aim for the middle number.
Aerobic Exercise: To strengthen the cardiovascular system, perform aerobic exercise requiring large amounts of oxygen for prolonged periods. Adjust intensity to be near the highest number in your training zone.
Workout Guidelines
Warming Up: Start with 5-10 minutes of stretching and light exercise to increase body temperature, heart rate, and circulation.
Training Zone Exercise: Exercise for 20-30 minutes within your training zone. (First few weeks: limit to 20 minutes). Breathe regularly and deeply; do not hold your breath.
Cooling Down: Finish with 5-10 minutes of stretching to increase flexibility and prevent post-exercise problems.
Exercise Frequency
To maintain or improve condition, complete three workouts weekly with at least one rest day between. After a few months, up to five workouts weekly may be possible. Make exercise a regular, enjoyable part of your life.
