Before You Begin
Thank you for choosing the NordicTrack Commercial X22i. Familiarize yourself with the labeled parts in the diagram below.
Diagram: An illustration shows the main components of the incline trainer, including the Console, Fan, Key/Clip, Idler Roller, Adjustment Screws, Wheel, Platform Cushion, Power Switch, Power Cord, Walking Belt, Walking Platform, Sled Grip, Accessory Tray, Handrail, and Push Bar. The dimensions are listed as Length: 5 ft. 10 in. (178 cm) and Width: 3 ft. 4 in. (101 cm).
Part Identification Chart
This section identifies small parts used for assembly, referencing key numbers from the Part List. Note: Check if parts are preattached if not found in the hardware kit.
Diagrams: Illustrations show a 3/8" Star Washer (Key No. 3) and a 3/8" x 5 1/2" Screw (Key No. 1).
Assembly
Assembly requires two persons. Use the included hex keys; do not use power tools.
Helpful Tips:
- Clear a space and remove packing materials.
- Identify small parts using the Part Identification Chart (page 8).
- An oily substance on the exterior after shipping is normal; clean with a soft cloth and mild cleaner.
Assembly Steps:
- Ensure the power cord is unplugged. Remove four 3/8" x 3 1/4" Screws (18) from the Base (74). Save screws.
- Remove four 3/8" x 2 3/4" Screws (22) from the Uprights (83). Save screws.
- Set Uprights (83) on the Base (74), ensuring the Upright Wire (75) is on the right side. Attach the right Upright using two 3/8" x 3 1/4" Screws (18), two 3/8" x 2 3/4" Screws (22), and four 3/8" Star Washers (3). Do not fully tighten yet. Ensure the Base Wire (52) is not pinched. Attach the left Upright similarly (no wire on the left). Fully tighten all screws.
- Connect the Base Wire (52) to the Upright Wire (75). Ensure connectors slide together easily. WARNING: Improper connection may damage the console. Remove tie (A) from Base Wire (52) and insert connectors into hole (B) in the right Upright (83).
- Remove 5/16" x 1" Screws (87) and 5/16" Star Washers (65) from handrail assembly brackets (C). Position handrail assemblies (D, E) upside down. Attach Crossbar (85) to handrail assemblies with 5/16" x 1" Screws (87) and 5/16" Star Washers (65). Do not tighten yet.
- With assistance, set handrail assembly (D) onto console assembly (F). Attach with four 3/8" x 5 1/2" Screws (1) and four 3/8" Star Washers (3). Tighten all four screws. Then, firmly tighten the 5/16" x 1" Screw (87) under each side of the Crossbar (85).
- Slide Right Inside Upright Cover (70) onto the right Upright (83). Press Right Outside Upright Cover (71) onto the inside cover until it snaps. Ensure wires (G) are not pinched. Attach left covers similarly.
- Move the incline trainer to its desired location. Ensure it rests firmly on the floor. Adjust Leveling Feet (77) if it rocks.
- IMPORTANT: Ensure all parts are properly tightened before use. Keep hex keys secure. One hex key adjusts the walking belt. Use a mat to protect the floor. Keep the console out of direct sunlight.
The Chest Heart Rate Monitor
How to Put On the Heart Rate Monitor:
Refer to diagrams for attaching the transmitter (A) to the chest strap (B) or inserting the tab (C) into the transmitter (E).
Wrap the monitor around your chest, tight against your skin, with the logo right-side-up. Adjust strap length as needed.
Locate the two electrode areas (G). Wet electrode areas with saliva or contact lens solution. Position the monitor against your chest.
Care and Maintenance:
- Dry electrode areas thoroughly after each use.
- Store in a warm, dry place, not in a plastic bag.
- Avoid direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Do not excessively bend or stretch the monitor.
- Clean the transmitter with a damp cloth and mild soap; dry with a soft towel. Never use alcohol or abrasives. Hand wash and air dry the chest strap.
Troubleshooting:
- If the monitor doesn't function, try moving it slightly higher or lower on your chest.
- If readings are delayed, re-wet electrode areas.
- Ensure you are within arm's length of the console.
- Replace the transmitter battery if applicable.
- Heart rate readings may be affected by medical conditions or magnetic interference. Relocate equipment if interference is suspected.
How to Use the Incline Trainer
How to Connect the Power Cord:
Use a Surge Suppressor: Protect your trainer from voltage changes by using a UL 1449 listed surge suppressor (TVSS) with appropriate ratings (400V or less, 450 joules minimum dissipation, 120V AC, 15 amps). It must have a functioning monitoring light. Failure to do so can damage the control system and cause injury.
Plug in the Power Cord:
The trainer must be grounded. Use the power cord's grounding pin. DANGER: Improper connection increases shock risk. Do not modify the plug; have a proper outlet installed by an electrician if needed.
Plug the power cord into the surge suppressor, and the suppressor into a properly installed and grounded 120-volt outlet (minimum 15 amps). Avoid plugging other devices into the same circuit, except low-power chargers.
Diagrams: Show a grounded outlet with a surge suppressor and a 2-pole receptacle with an adapter.
