ActronAir CO2 Sensor Installation and Commissioning Guide

Product Overview

This document provides detailed instructions for the installation and commissioning of ActronAir CO2 sensors, specifically the CCO2-S and CCO2-MOD models. These sensors are designed to control the amount of fresh air introduced into compatible ActronAir air conditioning units for Demand Control Ventilation (DCV), optimizing efficiency and reducing running costs based on occupancy.

02. Installation

02.01. Dimensions

Diagrams illustrating the physical dimensions of the CCO2-S and CCO2-MOD sensors are provided. The CCO2-S unit measures approximately 114.30 mm in height and 71.12 mm in width. The CCO2-MOD unit has similar dimensions. Detailed measurements for mounting holes and component placement are shown, indicating specific dimensions like 27.96 mm, 14.02 mm, 2 x 4.47 mm, 14.56 mm, and 76.20 mm.

02.02. Cable Specifications and Mounting Location

The recommended cable is 0.50mm² shielded data cable. Mounting instructions include:

  1. Remove the screw at the bottom of the tab.
  2. Press tabs on the rear plate and lift the cover.
  3. Mount the rear plate 1.0 to 1.8 meters above the floor, away from direct airflow (diffusers), doorways, and external influences to ensure accurate CO2 readings.
  4. Route wires through the base hole and make connections, ensuring cable entry gaps are sealed.
  5. Secure the cover back to the rear plate.

02.03. DIP Switch Settings

To access DIP switches, remove the CO2 sensor cover. Diagrams show the switch locations for CCO2-S (Tri-Capacity and Hercules) and CCO2-MOD (VCC and Genesis models).

02.03.01. Tri-Capacity and Hercules

Each of the six switches can be set to ON or OFF to configure the output. Diagrams illustrate the settings for all six switches being ON and all six switches being OFF.

Switch Positions:

DIP Switch Positions 3 and 4 (Current or Voltage Output Range Selection): These switches configure the output range based on Position 1. A table details the output ranges (e.g., 2-10V, 0-10V, 4-20mA) and corresponding switch settings. Specific notes refer to sections 02.04.04 and 02.04.03 for CG10K and Hercules/Tri-Capacity connections, respectively.

A diagram shows the DIP switch setting for a 4-20mA output, applicable to Tri-Capacity (CM100) and Hercules (PKV) units.

02.03.02. Variable Capacity Commercial and Genesis (PKV/CRV and PRV/CRV)

The CCO2-MOD features two DIP switches: SW2 (8-pin) for RS-485 address configuration and SW1 (4-pin) for hardware/software options.

SW2 is used for the RS-485 address. The default is 127, required for ActronAir board communication. To set the address to 127, all SW2 positions should be ON, except for position 1. A diagram shows how to calculate the address by summing the values of the ON switches (e.g., 64+32+16+8+4+2+1 = 127).

SW1 default settings are positions 1 and 2 ON, which are required for ActronAir Board communication. A diagram shows SW1 settings.

Auto Serial Configuration (AUT): This setting enables or disables automatic baud rate detection. If communication fails or serial configuration is incorrect (not 8 data bits, no parity, 1 stop bit), this should be set to OFF for manual configuration. A table describes the Setting Value (ON/OFF) and its Description.

A diagram shows the DIP switch setting for a 0-10VDC output, applicable to CG10K or Tri-Capacity (uPC Controller) units. It notes that voltage divider terminal blocks are required for 0-10VDC operation with a uPC Controller and refers to section 02.04.04 for instructions.

02.04. Wiring Diagram

Detailed wiring diagrams are provided for different models:

03. Controller Setup

The CO2 sensor function operates when enabled and configured. For third-party control, contact the supplier.

03.01. CO2 Sensor Setup

CO2 levels and corresponding damper positions are adjusted based on application requirements. A graph illustrates the relationship between CO2 level (ppm) and Outside Air Damper Position, showing minimum and maximum settings.

03.01.01. Tri-Capacity and Hercules

The unit control mode should be set to INTERNAL SENSOR. Input types are 4-20mA (CM100) or 0-5V (uPC). The sensor connects to specific ports (Hercules: U12; Tri-Capacity: Multi Input 1 or 2). Compatibility notes for different software versions are provided.

Installation and Commissioning Steps:

03.01.02. Variable Capacity Commercial and Genesis (PKV/CRV and PRV/CRV)

The connector used is RJ485. The CO2 sensor can be enabled via the Outdoor Board, Bluetooth Commissioning Tool, or Unit Installation Guide. For detailed instructions on enabling via NEO, refer to the Setting Economy Cycle Section in the Unit's Installation and Commissioning Guide.

03.02. Minimum Outside Air Setup (Demand Controlled Ventilation)

03.02.01. Tri-Capacity and Hercules

Select service page Gfc31 to configure the CO2 sensor operating range, enable/disable fault alarms, and set alarm levels. If the sensor fails or is out of range, the outside air defaults to the minimum setting (screen Gfd1). Screenshots show example settings for Hercules (U12 Input, 4-20mA) and Tri-Capacity (input setup in Gfc8).

03.02.02. Variable Capacity Commercial and Genesis (PKV/CRV and PRV/CRV)

To set minimum/maximum damper positions and the CO2 scale, navigate through specific service menus (oAdC, oAdo, ECEO, etc.). A table lists various economiser and CO2 control parameters.

03.03. CO2 Status

03.03.01. Tri-Capacity and Hercules

Current CO2 concentration levels can be viewed on Status Screen Page E1, under the 'CO2 Sensor' field. Screenshots show example readings for Tri-Capacity (420ppm) and Hercules (450ppm).

03.03.02. Variable Capacity Commercial and Genesis (PKV/CRV and PRV/CRV)

CO2 setup can be performed via the outdoor board; refer to section 03.02.02 for parameters.
