(2): Gate leaves wider than 3.5 meters can be automated, but the movement will be less smooth and regular.
General Requirements
For correct operation, the gate must meet the following requirements:
- Possess sufficient strength and rigidity.
- Be equipped with 1 hinge per gate leaf (remove other hinges if necessary).
- Not have excessive play in the hinges that causes the gate to sag.
- The gate must be openable and closable smoothly and evenly by hand.
- In the closed position, the top of the gate leaves must hang level.
- Ground stops must be present where the leaves meet when opening and closing.
1. General Characteristics
A complete underground system that does not detract from the appearance of your gate. Simple and reliable, it can be mounted on any swing gate with leaves up to 3.5 mtr (3 mtr for DU.350NV). The movement is smooth and quiet, thanks to a lever system that adjusts speed according to the opening or closing phase. The fully oil-bath motors prevent problems with excessive water and condensation, which could permanently damage the motor's operation. An electric lock is not necessary, as the system ensures irreversible locking of the gate leaves. Installation is simple; once the motor housing is in place, the motor can be secured within it using stainless steel bolts and nuts. A special key is provided for manual gate operation. The motor housings are supplied in galvanized sheet steel for a longer lifespan.
2. Mechanical End Stops (Fig.1)
The gate to be automated must be equipped with a central stop and end stops, as the DU. 350 N and DU.350NV motors are not equipped with electromechanical end stops as standard. You can also choose to install a set of limit switches DU.350FC.
3. Placing the Motor Housing
Dig a hole according to the instructions in Figure 2. Install a drainage pipe in the drainage hole and a cable conduit pipe in the cable entry of the motor housing (Fig.3). Pour the motor housing horizontally into concrete and check with a spirit level. Pay close attention to axis line A, which must be perfectly aligned with all hinge points.
4. Placing the Motor
- Before tightening the M10 nuts, check that the motor is firmly and evenly seated on the bottom of the motor housing. Ensure there is no dirt between the bottom of the motor and the motor housing. Check with a spirit level. Screw the motor firmly using the supplied nuts. NB: There are 8 screws in the box; use the most suitable ones (Fig.4).
- Weld the drive arm to the gate leaf as indicated in Fig. 5.
- Place the ball into the recess of the hinge pin and position the gate leaf (Fig.6).
- Connect the motor arm and drive arm using the connecting piece (Fig.7).
- Let the gate rest against the end stop, place screw V (Fig.7) at a distance of 1/2 mm from the connecting piece (only for standard mounting).
- The mechanical stop for 90° opening is available as an option. It must be placed in the special housing on the drive arm, as indicated in Figure 7.
5. 110° Opening (Fig.7)
When installing the DU. 110 sets for 110° opening, calculate dimension X (pivot point to support angle) to check feasibility, using the corresponding dimension Y.
A table is provided showing minimum dimensions X based on gate thickness Y:
X | Y |
130 | 30 |
115 | 40 |
100 | 50 |
85 | 60 |
70 | 70 |
55 | 80 |
6. 180° Opening
By installing an SB. 180 set, it is possible to open the gate up to 180° (for leaves with a maximum length of 2 mtr). This set can also be used to set specific opening angles.

Safety Rules
- Ensure that no persons or objects are in the path and surroundings of the moving parts of the automated gate during opening and closing.
- Never let children play near the gate or operate the gate.
- If there is a malfunction, it must be rectified by an expert before the gate is put back into operation.
- It is advisable to have maintenance performed once a year to comply with warranty requirements and safety regulations.
- Improperly performed installation, incorrect modifications, installation of non-original parts, or incorrect operation of the gate may lead to the invalidation of liability and/or warranty.
Manual Emergency Release
In case of power failure, the gate can be opened and closed manually (see drawing).
- Remove plastic cap T from the release mechanism.
- Insert key C into the opening and turn it.
- Keep the key turned and push against the leaf until it rotates slightly.
- Remove the key and replace cap T.
The gate will automatically return to its original position as soon as the motor is started.
Maintenance
- Check at least once a month that the manual emergency release is still functioning correctly.
- It is forbidden to perform special maintenance or repair work yourself to prevent accidents. These operations may only be carried out by experts.
- The motor is maintenance-free, but all safety devices and other components must be regularly checked for proper operation.
Environment
If the installation needs to be dismantled and removed, all parts must be sorted and disposed of correctly. You can contact a specialized company or your installer.
