WiFi Connectivity
HALO Horizon body cameras are pre-configured with the customer's SSID and password for automatic connection to a pre-configured access point when in range. Connection can also be made using WPS (if enabled).
A disconnected WiFi symbol ? [WiFi icon] will appear if the camera is not connected to WiFi.
When connected to WiFi, the signal strength is indicated by the number of white bars. A strong signal is shown when many bars are white.
Storage
Each HALO Horizon body camera has 58GB of available storage for footage capture. The display shows remaining storage and total storage. For example, '2/58GB' indicates 2GB is left to use and the camera can hold a total of 58GB. This means 56GB has been used.
Pre-recording
When pre-record is active, a red 'P' ?️ [P icon] will appear on the camera screen. Pre-record can be activated and deactivated by the user, depending on the camera's configuration.
Activating Pre-record:
- Hold the 'P' button found on the side of the body camera.
- The red 'P' symbol will appear on screen.
Charging
The docking station provides fast charging and a wired internet connection via an RJ45 cable. Magnets in the body camera and docking station ensure correct placement.
To charge, place the camera in a single charging dock or one of the 10 positions in a multi-dock charger. The battery symbol on the camera screen animates to show charging progress.
- When charging, the front ring flashes white.
- When fully charged, the front LED ring is solid white.
- If no lights are on, ensure the charging dock has power and cables are secured.
Multidock Internet Connectivity
The docking station has two RJ45 ports for providing internet connection to the body camera or daisy-chaining up to 10 additional multidocks.
When placed in the dock, the top-left screen symbol E [Ethernet icon] indicates the camera is in the dock but has not obtained an IP address.
After a few seconds or after inserting an RJ45 cable, the symbol changes to green E [Ethernet icon], indicating an IP address has been obtained.
Function Button
The function button (FN) on the side of the camera can be configured for various features.
Video Tagging:
By default, the FN button tags recordings as evidential. Pressing the FN button during recording vibrates the camera and signals HALO Vault to mark the footage as evidential upon upload.
WPS:
If WPS is enabled, pressing the FN button for one second activates it. The screen will display 'WPS Active'. WPS remains active for 60 seconds before automatically turning off. Refer to the WPS instructions manual for more information.
Footage Upload
HALO Horizon body cameras can upload footage via WiFi or RJ45. The camera automatically checks for footage every minute. Upload progress is indicated on the screen, typically within 10 seconds, depending on file size. Upon reaching 100% upload, the file is deleted from the camera and becomes available in HALO Vault.
File Count:
The screen shows the number of files to upload and the current file being processed (e.g., 6/10 indicates 6 files uploaded out of 10).
Live Stream:
Live streaming is available via WiFi and 4G. The 'LIVE' symbol ▶️ [Play icon] appears on screen when activated.
- Activating Live Stream: Hold the record button for 3 seconds; the camera vibrates, and the Live stream symbol appears.
- Deactivating Live Stream: Hold the record button for 3 seconds; the camera vibrates, and the Live stream symbol disappears.
Upload Progress:
The screen displays the upload progress of individual files, such as 59% complete. Files are deleted from the camera upon reaching 100% upload.
GPS
HALO Horizon body cameras record GPS coordinates, with the current location logged on every video frame by default. If the GPS signal is low (e.g., indoors), the location may not be recorded, and the screen symbol will be grey.
A strong GPS signal turns the symbol green, indicating coordinates are being recorded and burned onto each video frame.
