How to Set Up and Disable Access Control on Epson Printers

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for enabling and disabling the Access Control feature on Epson L15160 and L6580 printer models using the device's control panel.

Enabling Access Control

  6. Tap [Lock Settings].Visual: The "Administrator Settings" menu is displayed with options including "Administrator Password", "Lock Settings". "Lock Settings" is highlighted in red.
  7. Tap [Enable]. A confirmation prompt will appear: "Enable lock settings? If enabled, some functions require administrator password." Tap [Yes] (✔️).Visual 1: The "Lock Settings" screen shows "Disable" and "Enable" buttons. "Enable" is highlighted in red. Visual 2: A confirmation dialog box appears with the message "Enable lock settings? If enabled, some functions require administrator password." Buttons are "No" and "Yes".   8. After enabling, some options in the printer's menus will appear grayed out. When selected, a message will display: "This function cannot be used due to access control."Visual 1: The "General Settings" menu is shown with some options grayed out. Disabling Access Control

  1. Return to the home screen. Tap the [Administrator] icon (?).Visual: The printer's home screen is displayed, showing icons for "Copy", "Scan", "Fax", "Default", and "Settings". The "Administrator" icon is highlighted in red. Current time: 2025-08-13 10:09.

  3. Enter the [Administrator Password] and tap [OK].Note: The default administrator password is the printer's serial number (in uppercase English). Visual: A numeric and alphanumeric keypad is displayed for password entry. The "OK" button is highlighted in red.
