The day of the week is set automatically according to the date. The date can be set from January 1, 1995, to December 31, 2039. If no button is pressed for several minutes while digits are flashing, the flashing will stop, and the watch will automatically return to the Timekeeping Mode.
Backlight
If the backlight function is enabled, the watch display will flash and illuminate during timer, alarm, or hourly signals. At any time, pressing button "D" will illuminate the display for approximately 2 seconds, regardless of whether the backlight function is enabled or not. The backlight uses an electroluminescent source, which may lose its luminous intensity with prolonged use. Frequent use of the backlight shortens battery life.
How to Enable/Disable Backlight Function
Press and hold button "B" in Timekeeping Mode for one or two seconds to enable or disable the backlight function. When the backlight function is enabled, a backlight indicator appears on the display. This indicator remains visible in all modes until the function is disabled. This procedure only controls the backlight function and does not affect sound signals or tones. A sound may be heard when the backlight illuminates; this is normal and due to transistor activity.
