General Working Instructions

IMPORTANT! This section covers basic safety rules for working with blowers. If uncertain, consult an expert (dealer or workshop). Avoid tasks beyond your capability.

Be considerate of others by avoiding use at unsuitable times (late evening, early morning). Limit the number of equipment pieces used simultaneously to reduce noise.

Use the blower at the lowest possible throttle setting. Full throttle is seldom necessary; many tasks can be done at half throttle. Lower throttle means less noise, less dust, and better control of collected debris.

Use a rake or brush to loosen debris stuck to the ground.

Hold the blower opening close to the ground. Utilize the full length of the blow pipe to keep the air current near the ground.

Clean up afterwards. Ensure you have not blown debris into someone's garden.

Operate power equipment only at reasonable hours, not early morning or late night, to avoid disturbing neighbors. Comply with local ordinances.

! WARNING!

Be aware of your surroundings. If anyone approaches your work area, set the throttle control to the lowest setting until they are at a safe distance. Direct the blower away from people, animals, play areas, open windows, and cars.

Basic Safety Rules

No unauthorized persons or animals may be present within the 15-metre work area.

Allow the engine to cool before refuelling.

Keep all body parts away from ? hot surfaces.

If the machine catches fire or another emergency occurs forcing you to release yourself from the machine, open the harness straps and let the machine fall backward.

Powerful air currents can move objects at speeds that can cause serious eye injuries upon ricochet.

Never put the machine down with the engine running unless it is in clear sight.

Engine exhaust fumes contain carbon monoxide, which can cause poisoning. Do not start or run the machine indoors or in poorly ventilated areas.

The blower must not be used while on a ladder or scaffolding.

CAUTION! Do not use the machine unless you are able to call for help in the event of an accident.

Do not direct the air jet towards people or animals.

⏹️ Stop the engine before assembling or dismantling accessories or other parts.

Do not use the machine in bad weather (dense fog, heavy rain, strong wind, intense cold, etc.). Working in bad weather is tiring and can lead to dangerous conditions (e.g., slippery surfaces).

Minimize blowing time by lightly wetting dusty areas or using spray equipment.

Conserve water by using power blowers instead of hoses for many lawn and garden applications, including areas like gutters, screens, patios, grills, porches, and gardens.

Ensure you can move and stand safely. Check the area for possible obstacles (roots, rocks, branches, ditches, etc.) in case you need to move suddenly. Take great care when working on sloping ground.

Basic Working Techniques

! WARNING!

Watch out for thrown objects. Always wear ? eye protection. Stones, debris, etc., can be thrown into the eyes causing blindness or serious injury. Keep unauthorized persons at a distance. Children, animals, onlookers, and helpers should be kept outside the 15m safety zone. Stop the machine immediately if anyone approaches.

⏹️ Always stop the engine before cleaning.

This blower is a backpack type, carried using a shoulder harness. It is operated and controlled with the handle on the tube using the right hand.

Air jet speed is regulated by the throttle. Select the speed best suited for the task. The throttle position can be set using the "stop switch" to avoid continuously holding the throttle. Full throttle is achieved when the control is held back fully.

Check that the air intake is not blocked (e.g., by leaves or debris). A clogged air intake reduces blowing capacity and increases engine temperature, potentially causing engine failure. Stop the engine and remove the obstruction.

Be aware of the wind direction. Work with the wind to make your job easier.

Using the blower to move large piles is time-consuming and creates unnecessary noise.

Maintain good balance and a firm foothold.

When work is finished, the machine should be stored vertically.

Assembly

Assembling the Blow Pipe and Control Handle

Connect the blower and control pipe with the flexible hose. Clamp both ends of the flexible hose in place using the accompanying hardware.

Use the clamp to fasten the cabling to the flexible hose. (BTS)

NOTE! Lubricate the pipes slightly to facilitate assembly.

Fasten the handle holder to the control pipe and tighten the knob on the holder. Ensure the handle holder is aligned with the convex of the control pipe.

Connect the straight pipe and pipe end. Push the pipes together and turn them to lock.

Handlebar (Accessory)

Disassemble the intermediate pipe. Unscrew the knob from the holder and slide the holder onto the control pipe. Reassemble the knob and tighten.

Assemble the intermediate pipe.

If higher air speed is required, replace the round blow pipe with the flat nozzle (Accessory).

Adjust the position and angle to achieve a comfortable working position, and tighten.

Fuel Handling

Fuel

CAUTION! The machine has a two-stroke engine and must always run on a mixture of gasoline and two-stroke engine oil. Accurate measurement of oil is crucial for the correct mixture. Small inaccuracies can drastically affect the ratio.

! WARNING!

Always ensure adequate ventilation when handling fuel.

Gasoline

CAUTION! Always use high-grade oil-mixed gasoline (minimum 87 RON).

This engine is certified to operate on unleaded gasoline.

The lowest recommended octane rating is 87. Using lower octane can cause "knocking", leading to increased engine temperature and potential breakdown.

For continuous high revs, a higher octane rating is recommended. Use good quality unleaded gasoline.

Two-stroke oil

For best results, use HUSQVARNA two-stroke oil, specially formulated for our engines. Mixture 1:50 (2%).

If HUSQVARNA oil is unavailable, use another good quality two-stroke oil for air-cooled engines. Consult your dealer for selection.

Never use two-stroke oil for water-cooled outboard engines.

Never use oil intended for four-stroke engines.

Fuel Mixing Ratios
Gasoline (Litre)Two-stroke oil (2% / 1:50) (Litre)
50.10
100.20
150.30
200.40

Mixing

Always mix gasoline and oil in a clean fuel container.

Start by adding half the amount of gasoline, then add the entire amount of oil. Mix (shake) the fuel mixture. Add the remaining gasoline.

Mix (shake) the fuel mixture thoroughly before filling the machine's fuel tank.

Do not mix more than one month's supply at a time.

If the machine is not used for some time, empty and clean the fuel tank.

This engine is certified to operate on unleaded gasoline.

Fueling

! WARNING!

Taking the following precautions will lessen the risk of fire:

Clean the area around the fuel cap. Contamination in the tank can cause operating problems.

Ensure the fuel is well mixed by shaking the container before filling the tank.

Check the fuel level before each use and leave space for fuel expansion, as heat from the engine and sun may cause it to expand and overflow.

Starting and Stopping

Starting

! WARNING!

Always move the machine away from the refuelling area and source before starting. Place the machine on a flat surface.

Ensure no unauthorized persons are in the working area to avoid risk of serious injury. Safety distance is 15 metres.

The machine may only be started in its complete design. Starting without all guards fitted risks personal injury.

Cold Engine

Ignition: Set the stop switch to the start position. About one third open.

⬆️ Choke: Set the choke control in the choke position.

Primer bulb: Press the air purge repeatedly until fuel begins to fill the bulb. The bulb need not be completely filled.

Warm Engine

Use the same starting procedure as for a cold engine but without setting the choke control in the choke position.

Starting Procedure

Hold the body of the machine on the ground using your left hand (CAUTION! Not with your foot!). Grip the starter handle, slowly pull out the cord with your right hand until you feel resistance (the starter pawls grip), then quickly and powerfully pull the cord.

Never wrap the starter cord around your hand. Repeat pulling the cord until the engine starts. When the engine starts, return choke control to run position.

CAUTION! Do not pull the starter cord all the way out and do not let go of the starter handle when the cord is fully extended. This can damage the machine.

NOTE! The engine is stopped by switching the ignition off using the stop switch.

Stopping

The engine is stopped by moving the stop switch to the STOP position.

Maintenance

Remove the ignition cable and the spark plug to carry out inspection and maintenance. Keep all body parts away from ? hot surfaces.

Carburetor

Idle Speed Adjustment

Before any adjustments, ensure the air filter is clean and the cover is fitted. The factory idle speed is 2,000 rpm. Use the adjustment screw on the upper edge of the carburetor if idle speed needs adjustment.

Muffler

The muffler reduces noise and directs exhaust fumes away from the operator. Hot exhaust gases can cause fires if directed at combustible material. The muffler is equipped with a spark arrestor screen.

! WARNING!

The muffler gets very hot during use and remains so after stopping. Contact can cause burns. Beware of fire risk!

Check regularly that the muffler is securely attached. Tighten screws to 8-10 Nm.

Ensure the spark arrestor and exhaust duct are correctly screwed in place (5). Tighten to 2-3 Nm.

To remove the spark arrestor screen:

Never use a machine with a defective muffler. Check regularly for secure attachment.

Cooling System

The machine has a cooling system to keep working temperature low, consisting of cooling fins on the cylinder and the air intake screen.

Clean the cooling system with a brush weekly, more often in demanding conditions. A dirty/blocked system causes overheating and damage to the piston and cylinder. Check that nozzles are not blocked.

Air Intake Screen

Check the air intake screen is not blocked on all sides, including the underside, by leaves or debris. A clogged intake reduces blowing capacity, increases engine temperature, and can cause failure. Stop the engine and remove obstructions.

! WARNING!

Never use the blower if the screen is not in place. Before use, check that the screen is in place and undamaged.

Spark Plug

Spark plug condition depends on carburetor adjustment, fuel mixture (oil amount/type), and air filter cleanliness. These factors cause deposits leading to operating problems and starting difficulties.

Clean the spark plug externally. Remove it and check the electrode gap. Adjust to 0.6-0.7 mm or replace the spark plug. Ensure the spark plug has a suppressor.

Electrode gap: 0.6-0.7 mm

CAUTION! Always use the recommended spark plug type! The wrong type can damage the piston/cylinder.

Air Filter

Regularly clean the air filter to remove dust and dirt to avoid:

Clean the filter every 40 hours, or more frequently in dusty conditions. Avoid contact with hot surfaces (muffler, cylinder) to prevent burns.

Cleaning the Air Filter (570, 580 BTS, BFS)

Loosen the four fasteners holding the air filter cover and remove the filter. Wash the prefilter in warm soapy water.

Tap the paper filter against a hard surface to shake off dust. If still dirty, replace it.

Do not oil the filter.

Cleaning the Air Filter (560BTS, BFS)

Remove the air filter cover and take out the filter. Wash it clean in warm, soapy water.

If the machine is used in dusty conditions, the air filter should be oiled (see "Oiling the Air Filter").

An old air filter cannot be cleaned completely and must be replaced at regular intervals. A damaged filter must always be replaced.

Refit the air filter and air filter cover.

Oiling the Air Filter (560BTS, BFS)

Always use special filter oil. Filter oil contains a solvent for even distribution; avoid skin contact.

Put the filter in a plastic bag, pour filter oil over it. Knead the bag to distribute oil. Squeeze out excess oil inside the bag before fitting. Never use common engine oil; it drains quickly.

Shoulder Strap

If the shoulder strap is damaged, it may break during use, causing the machine to fall and potentially injure the operator. Follow these instructions to replace it:

  1. Remove the clamp from the strap.
  2. Run the end of the strap through the hanger.
  3. Refit the clamp to the strap.

! WARNING!

Check that the thick round pin in the clamp is inserted correctly into the strap. Incorrect insertion may lead to personal injury.
