Rockwell Automation XM-120 Eccentricity Module

An overview of the XM-120 Eccentricity Module and its capabilities.

About the XM-120 Eccentricity Module

The XM-120 Eccentricity module is a sophisticated 2-channel monitor designed for industrial applications. It is part of the Entek XM® Series, offering robust condition monitoring and protection for rotating and reciprocating machinery. This module accurately measures rotor bow, a critical indicator of shaft straightness, which can be affected by mechanical factors or thermal conditions.

The XM-120 is suitable for a wide range of machinery, providing essential data such as peak-to-peak eccentricity, maximum and minimum instantaneous DC voltage (gap), and instantaneous DC voltage. It also supports tachometer input for speed measurement, which can be configured to disable eccentricity alarms after startup.

Key Features and Functionality

  • Monitors rotor bow for machinery health assessment.
  • Accepts input from non-contact eddy current probe systems.
  • Provides detailed eccentricity measurements and gap data.
  • Includes tachometer input for speed monitoring.
  • Can operate stand-alone or integrate with DeviceNet networks, PLCs, and DCS.
  • Configurable remotely via DeviceNet or locally via a serial connection.
  • Expandable relay capabilities with the XM-441 Expansion Relay module.

Installation and Configuration

This user guide details the installation process, including wiring requirements, power supply connections, and terminal block assignments. It also covers the configuration parameters, allowing users to tailor the module's operation to specific machinery needs. For detailed information on DeviceNet integration and objects, refer to the relevant appendices.
