Children must not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance must not be carried out by children unless they are 15 years or older and supervised. Keep children younger than 8 years away from the appliance and its power cord.

Safe Use

WARNING – Fire Hazard! Grease deposits in the grease filters can ignite. Never operate the appliance without grease filters. Clean the grease filters regularly. Never work with open flames near the appliance (e.g., flambéing). Install the appliance near a solid fuel fire (e.g., wood or coal) only if the fire has a closed, non-removable cover and no sparks can escape. Hot oil and fat ignite quickly. Always supervise hot oil and fat.

Never extinguish burning oil or fat with water. Switch off the hob. Carefully smother flames with a lid, fire blanket, or similar, and allow to cool. Gas cookers without cookware generate high heat during operation. A ventilation appliance installed above them can be damaged or catch fire. Always operate gas cookers with cookware on them. When operating multiple gas cookers simultaneously, high heat is generated. Operate gas cookers only with cookware on them. Set the fan to the highest speed. Never operate two gas burners with the largest flame for longer than 15 minutes. Two gas burners are equivalent to a large burner. Never operate a large burner with more than 5 kW with the largest flame for longer than 15 minutes, e.g., a wok. Grease deposits in the grease filters can ignite. Clean the grease filters regularly.

WARNING – Suffocation Hazard! Children can pull packaging material over their heads or wrap themselves in it and suffocate. Keep packaging material away from children. Do not let children play with packaging material. Children can inhale or swallow small parts and suffocate. Keep small parts away from children. Do not let children play with small parts.

WARNING – Poison Hazard! Recirculated combustion gases can lead to poisoning. Appliances that draw air from the room (e.g., gas, oil, wood, or coal-fired heaters, instantaneous water heaters, water heaters) draw combustion air from the installation room and discharge exhaust gases through an exhaust system (e.g., chimney) to the outside. When a range hood is operated simultaneously, room air is drawn from the kitchen and adjacent rooms. Insufficient air supply creates negative pressure. Toxic gases from the chimney or exhaust duct can be drawn back into the living areas. Always ensure adequate air supply when using the appliance in exhaust air mode simultaneously with a room-air-dependent fire. Safe operation is only possible if the negative pressure in the installation room of the fire does not exceed 4 Pa (0.04 mbar). This can be achieved by providing non-closable openings, e.g., in doors, windows, in conjunction with a wall duct for air intake/exhaust, or by other technical measures that allow the combustion air to flow in. A wall duct for air intake/exhaust alone does not guarantee compliance with the limit value. Consult your local chimney sweep for advice on the entire ventilation system of the house and for suitable ventilation measures. If the appliance is used exclusively in recirculation mode, operation is unrestricted. The use of a gas hob generates heat, moisture, and combustion products in the installation room. Switch on the range hood when operating a gas hob.

WARNING – Burn Hazard! Accessible parts become hot during operation. Never touch hot parts. Keep children away. The appliance becomes hot during operation. Allow the appliance to cool before cleaning.

WARNING – Injury Hazard! Components inside the appliance may have sharp edges. Clean the appliance interior carefully. Objects placed on the appliance can fall off. Do not place objects on the appliance.

Painted surfaces are sensitive. Observe cleaning instructions. Protect painted surfaces from scratches.

Environmental Protection and Saving Energy

Disposing of Packaging

Packaging materials are environmentally compatible and recyclable. Dispose of individual components separately according to type.

Saving Energy

By following these tips, your appliance will consume less electricity. Adjust the fan speed to the intensity of cooking fumes. A lower fan speed means lower energy consumption. Use the intensive setting only when needed. For intense cooking fumes, select a higher fan speed early on. This reduces the spread of odors in the room. Switch off the lighting when it is no longer needed. When the lighting is switched off, it consumes no energy. Clean or replace filters at the specified intervals. This maintains filter effectiveness. Place a lid on pots. This reduces cooking fumes and condensation. Use additional functions only when needed. Switching off additional functions reduces energy consumption. Product information according to (EU) 65/2014 and (EU) 66/2014 can be found below the energy label and on the product page of your appliance on the Internet.

Operating Modes

You can use your appliance in exhaust air mode or recirculation mode.

Exhaust Air Mode

The drawn-in air is cleaned by the grease filters and expelled outdoors through a duct system. The air must not be discharged into a chimney used for exhaust gases from appliances that burn gas or other fuels (this does not apply to recirculation appliances). If the exhaust air is to be routed into a non-operational smoke or exhaust chimney, the consent of the responsible chimney sweep must be obtained. If the exhaust air is routed through the external wall, a telescopic wall duct should be used.

Recirculation Mode

The drawn-in air is cleaned by the grease filters and an odor filter and returned to the room. To neutralize odors in recirculation mode, you must install an odor filter. For information on the different ways to operate the appliance in recirculation mode, refer to our catalog or ask your dealer. The necessary accessories are available from specialist dealers, customer service, or the online shop. See "Accessories", page 14.

Safe Installation

Observe these safety instructions when installing the appliance.

Recirculated combustion gases can lead to poisoning. If a range hood is installed with a room-air-dependent fire, the power supply of the range hood must be equipped with a suitable safety switch. Recirculated combustion gases can lead to poisoning. Do not discharge exhaust air into a chimney or exhaust duct that is in operation. Do not discharge exhaust air into a shaft used for ventilating rooms of fire appliances. If the exhaust air is to be routed into a non-operational smoke or exhaust chimney, the consent of the responsible chimney sweep must be obtained.

WARNING – Suffocation Hazard! Children can pull packaging material over their heads or wrap themselves in it and suffocate. Keep packaging material away from children. Do not let children play with packaging material.

WARNING – Fire Hazard! Grease deposits in the grease filters can ignite. Never work with open flames near the appliance (e.g., flambéing). Install the appliance near a solid fuel fire (e.g., wood or coal) only if the fire has a closed, non-removable cover and no sparks can escape. The specified safety clearances must be observed to prevent heat buildup. Observe the specifications for your cooking appliances. If the installation instructions for the cooking appliances specify a different clearance, always observe the larger clearance. If gas and electric hobs are operated together, the largest specified clearance applies.

WARNING – Injury Hazard! Components inside the appliance may have sharp edges. Wear protective gloves. If the appliance is not properly secured, it can fall. All fastening elements must be securely mounted. Risk of injury from glass splinters. Protect the filter cover from impacts. Do not let the filter cover fall. Wear safety goggles during installation. The appliance is heavy. 2 people are required to move the appliance. Use only suitable aids. The appliance is heavy. The appliance must not be mounted directly into plasterboard or similar lightweight materials. Use material that is sufficiently stable, adapted to the structural conditions and the appliance's weight, for proper installation.

General Notes

Observe these general notes during installation. The currently valid building regulations and the regulations of the local electricity and gas suppliers must be observed for installation. When discharging exhaust air, the official and legal regulations, such as the state building code, must be observed. Choose an easily accessible installation location to ensure unimpeded access to the appliance in case of service. The appliance surfaces are sensitive. Avoid damage during installation.

Notes on Electrical Connection

Observe these notes to connect the appliance safely. WARNING – Electric Shock Hazard! The appliance must be disconnectable from the power supply at all times. The appliance must only be connected to a properly installed protective contact socket. The mains plug of the power cord must be freely accessible after the appliance has been installed. If this is not possible, an all-pole isolating device must be installed in the fixed electrical installation according to the conditions of overvoltage category III and the installation regulations. Only a qualified electrician should carry out the fixed electrical installation. We recommend installing a residual current device (RCD) in the appliance's power circuit. Sharp-edged components inside the appliance can damage the power cord. Do not kink or pinch the power cord. Refer to the rating plate for connection data. See page 14. The connection cable is approx. 1.30 m long. This appliance complies with the EC EMC regulations. The appliance complies with Protection Class 1. Therefore, use the appliance only with a protective earth connection. Do not connect the appliance to power during installation. Ensure that touch protection is guaranteed by the installation.

Notes on Installation Situation

Mount this appliance on the kitchen wall. The appliance must be installed in front of the wall units if they are deeper than 370 mm. For the installation of additional special accessories, observe the installation manual provided. The width of the range hood must correspond at least to the width of the hob. To optimally capture cooking fumes, mount the appliance centrally above the hob.

Notes on Exhaust Ducting

The appliance manufacturer assumes no liability for complaints attributable to the ducting. Use a short, straight exhaust pipe with the largest possible pipe diameter. Long, rough exhaust pipes, many pipe bends, or small pipe diameters reduce suction power and increase fan noise. Use an exhaust pipe made of non-combustible material. To prevent condensate return, install the exhaust pipe with a 1° gradient from the appliance.

Notes on Exhaust Air Operation

A backflow flap should be installed for exhaust air operation. Notes: If no backflow flap is supplied with the appliance, one can be obtained from a specialist dealer. If the exhaust air is routed through the external wall, a telescopic wall duct should be used.
