Analog Devices DC2792A: LTC6820 Dual Master isoSPI Adapter

Introduction and Quick Start

Product Overview

The Analog Devices DC2792A is a demonstration circuit that serves as an SPI serial to dual-port isoSPI adapter. It features a pair of multiplexed LTC6820 isoSPI transceivers, facilitating the evaluation of battery-management (BMS) systems. This adapter is designed to replace older boards like the DC1941 and offers enhanced functionality by providing a second isoSPI master port, enabling the use of the reversible isoSPI feature where applicable. The SPI interface can be connected via a legacy 14-contact ribbon cable to a DC590 or DC2026 USB adapter, or it can be directly integrated as a Linduino shield.

The two isoSPI ports are designated as MAIN and AUXILIARY, with activity indicated by blue LEDs. For compatibility with legacy single-port isoSPI systems, the MAIN port is utilized. Power for the DC2792A is supplied indirectly from the host computer's USB port through the connected USB to serial adapter.

Quick Start Guide

This manual includes a quick start procedure to help users set up the DC2792A evaluation board efficiently. It lists the required equipment, including a PC with a USB port, the DC2026 Linduino board, USB cables, Ethernet patch cords, and appropriate software. The procedure guides users through connecting the DC2792A to the DC2026 Linduino board (either via ribbon cable or as a shield) and then connecting BMS demo units using Ethernet cables. Finally, it instructs on connecting the Linduino to the PC and starting the evaluation software.
