1.2 Chassis design and dimensions

The speed gates feature a SUS304 stainless steel body, offering a simple, clean, and anti-corrosion design. The SBTL8000 series grants legal access to authorized persons and restricts illegal access. In case of an emergency, the lock will release to allow fast evacuation and egress.

The design and dimensions of the SBTL8000 series are illustrated below:

Figure 1-2: Diagram showing the overall dimensions and layout of the speed gates. The side view indicates dimensions such as 1040.00mm (width), 800.00mm (length), 295.00mm (depth of barrier arms), 453.65mm (height of cabinet), and 1600.00mm (overall length).

1.3 The mechanical system of the speed gates

The mechanical system comprises the cabinet and the core mechanism. The cabinet is equipped with a mode indicator, an infrared sensor, and a locking system. The core mechanism primarily consists of the motor, chassis, core, and the swing arm (glass panel).

1.4 Electric control system

The electric control system is mainly composed of the master control panel, the infrared sensor, the mode indicator, and the loudspeaker.

  • Master control panel: The core component that receives signals from the photoelectric switch, performs logical judgment and processing, and issues commands to the mode indicator, servo motor driver, and loudspeaker.
  • Infrared sensor: Detects pedestrian location and provides a safety protection function.
  • Mode indicator: Displays the current passing mode status of the channel, guiding passengers orderly and safely.
  • Loudspeaker: Triggers an alarm if unauthorized entry is detected.

1.5 Operation principle of the speed gates

Upon connection to power, the system performs a self-check. If no issues are detected, it operates normally. Any detected failures will be displayed as messages on the LCD screen for user awareness and troubleshooting.

Figure 1-3: Diagram showing internal components including an air switch, master control panel, and other electronic modules.

When a valid card or fingerprint is detected by the reader, the display screen indicates the success or failure of the operation, and a switch instruction signal is transmitted to the master control panel.

After receiving signals from the reader and the infrared sensor, the master control panel sends control signals to the servo motor driver. If the system is in a forbidden passing mode, the mode indicator light will turn red, and the master control panel will not accept further card swiping or fingerprint scanning signals.

As a passenger passes through the channel, the infrared sensor continuously detects their movement and signals the main control panel until the passage is clear.

If a pedestrian enters the passage but forgets to swipe their card, or if the card is invalid, an audible alarm will sound, warning the pedestrian to stop. The alarm will cease only when the pedestrian retreats from the passage. Passage is permitted only after successful verification with a valid card.

1.6 System composition of the product

The single-passage management system consists of two single-core speed gates. The multi-passage management system is composed of two single-core barriers and multiple dual-core barriers.

Working modes of the system

To meet diverse needs, the system offers multiple working modes: normal working mode, normally open mode, normally closed mode, and testing mode. After power is supplied, the LCD screen on the control board displays the default state, indicating the current working mode.

2. Installation of the Product

2.1 Installation notes

  1. It is recommended that the speed gates be installed on a horizontal solid platform with a height of 50mm to 100mm.
  2. It is also recommended that the swing turnstile should not be used in a corrosive environment.
  3. Ensure the protective ground wire of the system is reliably connected to avoid personal injuries or other accidents.
  4. The equipment shell is made of stainless steel. Clean the surface gently with a soft and smooth fabric. Do not scrub with hard objects or rinse with water, as this may cause short circuits or damage the equipment.
  5. After installation, verify that connections are correctly made at the protective ground wire points, connector assemblies, wiring points, and all movable parts of the speed gates turnstile. Tighten any loose nuts, screws, and other fasteners promptly to prevent operational failures.

2.2 Installation position of the speed gates

A distance of 100mm between the speed gates turnstile and the wall needs to be reserved for ease of opening the top cover for maintenance and adjustment. The reference figure is shown below:

Figure 2-2: Diagram illustrating the installation layout of speed gates in a wall setting, showing spacing and distances from walls.

2.3 Cables installation and fixing

For the outlets of concealed cables, refer to the drawing indicating the mounting holes. The input voltage for this swing turnstile is AC110-220V. Its master and slave units are connected with an 8-core cable (signal) and a 2-core cable (power). During installation, the user only needs to connect these to the corresponding ports. Note that PVC conduits are laid 100mm under the ground, with the exposed part not exceeding 100mm. The conduit outlet is bent to prevent water ingress.

SBTL 8000 series installation holes and cabling positions are shown in Figure 2-3a:

Figure 2-3a: Diagram detailing installation holes, anchor points, and cabling positions for the SBTL 8000 series. It indicates dimensions for placement, the use of M12 screw holes, and identifies network cable, power line, tether cable, and a 25mm PVC pipe for conduits.

Mark the anchor hole at the center of the stand and the edge of the chassis base on the ground according to the size shown in Figure 2-3a. Use a hammer drill to create M12 screw holes, then install the screws. Position the swing turnstile according to the size and respective installation position shown in the figure before installation and fixing. Connect the turnstile to the power supply.

Perform a power-on test. If the test is successful, tighten the screws. It is recommended to mark a warning line on the ground, as shown in Figure 2-3b, after installing the device to remind pedestrians to stand behind the line when swiping the card.

It shows connections for RS485, CAN, Wiegand interfaces, 12V input, 24V power supply, IR sensors, electromagnetic clutches, and various other terminals.

4. Troubleshooting

NumberFailure descriptionsAnalysis and solution
1The mode indicator light does not respond or the indication is incorrect.Check that the control panel mode indicator wiring is correct or that the contact is poor.
2After swiping the card, there is only a speed gate unlocked.Check the mode setting of the master and slave devices and the 8-core, 2-core connection lines. See the wiring diagram for the specific connection circuit.
3The barrier doesn't close when the opening delay time is ended.Check to see if the opening delay time is too long or whether the IR sensor is covered.
4When the gate is self-tested, the swing arm is not in the normal closing position! In the process of self-test, there are obstacles; please remove the obstacles and restart the self-test after power-on!

5. Product Maintenance

5.1 Chassis

The chassis is made of SAE 304 stainless steel. When the device has been used for a long period, rust or stains may appear on the surface. Regularly sand the surface along the grain softly and carefully, then coat the surface with anti-rust oil. Avoid covering the infrared sensors.

5.2 Movement

Cut off the power supply before maintenance. Then, open the door, wipe off dust on the surface, and lubricate the transmission mechanism. Check and tighten other connection parts.

5.3 Power

Cut off the power supply before maintenance. Check the plug connection; if anything is loose, fix it. Do not randomly change any connection positioning. Check the external power supply insulation regularly. Periodically check for any kind of leakage. Verify that the technical parameters of each interface are normal. Check the service life of the electronic components.

Caution: The above-mentioned maintenance methods for the speed gates, especially the movement and electric control maintenance, must be carried out by professional personnel. Always remember to cut off the power supply before maintenance and repair.
