Key Features

Comfortable Cab

A spacious cab equipped with an air suspension seat ensures operator comfort throughout the workday. Features include standard air conditioning, generous legroom, and an optional heated seat for cold climates. Wide door openings facilitate easy entry and exit. The cab offers a clear view to the blade corners and cutting edge, crucial for fine grading and working near structures. Operator sound levels are industry-leading low at 80 dB(A) (ANSI/SAE J1166 OCT 98), creating a quiet and productive environment.

Seat-Mounted Controls

Ergonomically designed seat-mounted joystick controls provide optimum comfort and precise operation. These controls isolate vibrations and allow for independent adjustment of the seat and controls, with adjustable wrist pads and armrests.

Monitoring Package

An easy-to-read display provides vital system information. Buttons allow operators to select parameters for forward/reverse speed, blade response, steering response, and decel pedal modes.

Dozer Blade Control

The ergonomic joystick offers intuitive control for precise blade raise and tilt, reducing operator fatigue. A thumb roller adjusts blade angle, and a blade shake button provides momentary quick tilt for material removal.

Combined Decel/Brake Pedal

This pedal functions as both engine speed control and brake. Depressing it fully applies the brake. The mode can be changed via display panel buttons to control transmission speed.

Hydrostatic Transmission Control

Seat-mounted controls enhance productivity. Speed, direction, and steering are managed by a single joystick with three detented positions (forward, reverse, neutral). The joystick's movement dictates direction and turning radius. An infinitely variable speed control is managed by a thumb wheel on the joystick, allowing operators to select optimal speeds without power interruption. A speed recall button allows selection of pre-determined settings. The power turn feature aids maneuverability in difficult conditions and tight spaces, complemented by counter-rotation for quick maneuvering.

Engine: Cat® C4.4 ACERT™

The Cat C4.4 is a 4.4 L, four-cylinder, inline diesel engine featuring Caterpillar's ACERT™ Technology. This system provides advanced electronic control, precision fuel delivery, and refined air management for outstanding performance, reduced emissions (meeting EU Stage IIIA and Japan MOC Step 3 standards), and improved durability. Its compact design allows for better machine balance and operator comfort. Engine and transmission control systems are integrated for optimized performance and fuel efficiency.

Undercarriage

Caterpillar offers two undercarriage options for cost-effectiveness: the standard Sealed and Lubricated Track (SALT) and the optional SystemOne™ Undercarriage. Both are designed for long life and reduced owning/operating costs. Full-length guarding prevents debris from damaging moving parts. Machine balance is optimized for grading performance. The SystemOne™ Undercarriage features a rotating bushing design for increased life, reduced maintenance, and less vibration. SALT undercarriage is built for rugged conditions with easily replaceable segmented sprockets. Track frames are available in Extra Long (XL) for increased ground contact area and flotation, or Low Ground Pressure (LGP) with wider track shoes for enhanced stability on soft terrain and slopes.

AccuGrade™ Systems

These systems revolutionize material movement with enhanced accuracy, productivity, and reduced operating costs. AccuGrade™ integrates with machine and hydraulic systems for automated blade control. It uses machine-mounted sensors for precise blade slope and elevation calculation.

  • AccuGrade Laser: Uses a laser transmitter and receiver for precise grade control. An automated blade control system adjusts elevation, allowing operators to steer the machine for faster grading and fewer passes. It also calculates cut/fill requirements for manual control. Ideal for flat work like concrete pads and driveways.
  • AccuGrade GPS: Computes machine positioning relative to a design plan, providing in-cab display information on blade elevation, cut/fill needs, and machine location. Vertical and horizontal guidance tools assist operators, with automated features controlling blade adjustments. Best for cut and contour jobs.
  • AccuGrade Monitor: Integrated into the machine's dash for easy viewing, allowing operators to monitor system information while maintaining sight of the blade.

Blade and Attachments

Cat work tools are designed for tough dozing applications.

  • VPAT Blade: A 6-way blade designed for finish grading, backfilling, ditch cutting, windrowing, land clearing, and heavy dozing. It offers adjustable angle, tilt, and pitch, with improved visibility to the cutting edge.
  • Parallelogram Ripper: Provides aggressive ripping performance with a parallel linkage design for better penetration and maneuverability.
  • Forestry Options: Include a forestry blade with enhanced guarding, a Cat hydrostatic winch for excellent line pull and variable drum speed, 360-degree guarding for cab protection, and a heavy-duty rear tank guard.

Hydrostatic Winch

Offers outstanding load control with infinitely variable speed and pull modulation. It combines the speed of a standard winch with the pull of a low-speed winch, providing excellent line pull at any speed, lower operator effort, and unmatched load control.

Serviceability

Designed for easy access and minimal maintenance to keep machines operational. Features include long service intervals, convenient access to engine maintenance points (filters, dipstick, fuel pump, air cleaner), and grouped pressure taps for hydraulic system troubleshooting. Optional Product Link™ system provides fleet tracking via satellite or cellular technology. The optional Machine Security System (MSS) uses programmable keys to deter theft and unauthorized usage.

Transmission Features: Dual-path, closed-loop hydrostatic drive with infinitely variable speeds (0-9 km/h forward, 0-10 km/h reverse). Full-flow filtering of hydrostatic charge system oil. Drive pumps are two variable-displacement, slipper-axial piston pumps. Track motors are two variable-displacement, link-type piston motors.
