Whirlpool French Door Bottom Refrigerator Quick Start Guide

Operating Instructions

IMPORTANT: Before operating this appliance, ensure it has been properly installed according to the appliance's Owner's Manual.

The controls are located above the external dispenser. Touch any control button on the dispenser panel to activate the display screen.

NOTE: The display screen will turn off automatically and enter "sleep" mode after 2 minutes of inactivity. The first button press reactivates the display without changing settings. If no changes are made within 2 minutes, the display re-enters "sleep" mode.

Control Panel Diagram Description: The control panel features buttons for:

Cooling On/Off

Your refrigerator and freezer will not cool when cooling is turned off. To turn cooling off, press and hold the Lock and Measured Fill buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds. The display will show "Refrigeration Cooling is Off". Press and hold Lock and Measured Fill again for 3 seconds to turn cooling back on.

IMPORTANT: Press both buttons at exactly the same time to avoid unintentionally locking the dispenser or changing other settings.

Ice Maker On/Off

You can turn the ice maker on or off from the control panel.

Press the Options button to enter Options mode. The words "Ice Maker" will illuminate. Then press Temp to toggle between "Ice Maker" and "Ice Maker Off". When the ice maker is turned off, "Ice Maker Off" will flash three times and then stay lit. When set to off, it stops producing ice. Pressing Ice Maker when it is off turns it on.

Fast Cool

The Fast Cool feature is useful during periods of high refrigerator use, full grocery loads, or temporarily warm room temperatures. Once selected, Fast Cool remains on for 24 hours unless manually turned off.

To activate Fast Cool, press Options to enter Options mode, then press Options again. "Fast Cool" will appear on the dispenser display. To manually turn it off, repeat the process.

NOTE: Setting the freezer to a colder temperature may make some foods, such as ice cream, harder.

Water Filter Status

When a water filter is installed, the status lights indicate when to change it. The disposable water filter should be replaced at least every 6 months. If water flow decreases noticeably before 6 months, replace it more often.

The filter reset control restarts the status tracking. After changing the filter, press Options to enter Options mode, then press Lock to initiate the reset, and finally press Measured Fill to confirm. The "Order" and "Replace" icons will disappear.

Temperature Set Points

Initial Setup: Controls are preset at the factory to 38°F (3°C) for the refrigerator and 0°F (-18°C) for the freezer. Wait 24 hours for the refrigerator to cool completely before adding food.

NOTE: Adjusting set points colder will not cool compartments faster. Check air vents if temperatures are incorrect.

Adjusting Temperatures:

  1. Press and hold Temp for 3 seconds to activate Temperature mode.
  2. Press Temp to toggle between Fridge and Freezer. The display shows the selected compartment's set point.
  3. Press Lock to raise the set point, or press Options to lower it.
  4. To view/adjust the freezer set point after the refrigerator, press Temp (under Select Zone). "Freezer" will appear.
  5. Press Lock to raise the set point, or press Options to lower it.

NOTE: To view temperatures in Celsius, press the Light button under "Units" while in adjust mode. Press Light again to return to Fahrenheit.

Saving Settings: Press Measured Fill to save changes. To exit without saving, press Ice Type or wait for 60 seconds of inactivity.
