Whirlpool French Door Bottom Refrigerator Quick Start Guide

Operating Instructions

IMPORTANT: Ensure proper installation per the Owner's Manual. The temperature control center is at the top front of the refrigerator compartment. Controls are factory-preset; verify settings upon initial installation.

Electronic Controls

Max Cool Feature

Use Max Cool for high usage, full loads, or warm room temps. Press 'Max Cool' for lowest settings; press again for normal. Note: Max Cool auto-deactivates after ~12 hours.

Humidity Control

Activates a heater to reduce moisture on door hinge seals, useful in humid conditions. Increases energy use. Turn 'On' for humidity/moisture; turn 'Off' to save energy.

Turning Refrigerator Off/On

To turn off: Press both minus [-] pads until [- -] appears on both displays. No cooling occurs. To turn on: Press either refrigerator or freezer minus [-] pad.

Digital Controls

Display set point temperatures and allow adjustments.

IMPORTANT: Recommended settings suit normal use. Verify by checking milk/juice coldness and ice cream firmness. Allow 24 hours for full cooling before loading food. Early loading may cause spoilage.

Note: Colder settings don't cool faster. Check air vents for blockages before adjusting controls if temperatures are incorrect.

Adjusting the Controls

Refrigerator control adjusts refrigerator temp; Freezer control adjusts freezer temp.

Condition	Temperature Adjustment
Refrigerator too cold	Refrigerator setting 1° higher
Refrigerator too warm	Refrigerator setting 1° lower
Freezer too cold	Freezer setting 1° higher
Freezer too warm / too little ice	Freezer setting 1° lower

First touch of [+] or [-] shows current set point. Press [+] or [-] to desired set point. Note: Except initial startup, adjust only one setting at a time; wait 24 hours for stabilization.

Max Ice Feature

Increases ice production for heavy ice use. Press 'Max Ice' for the lowest freezer setting. Note: Max Ice auto-deactivates after ~24 hours.

Special Features

Temperature Alarm (Temp Alarm)

Provides temp info during power outages. If temps exceed normal for >1 hour, highest temp displays, and alarm sounds. Press 'Temp Alarm' once to silence alarm/displays; 'Temp Alarm' light flashes until temp normalizes.

To turn on: Press 'Temp Alarm' until light is lit. To turn off: Press and hold 'Temp Alarm' for 3 seconds until light extinguishes.

Door Alarm

Chimes if a door is open for 5 continuous minutes. Stops when door is closed or feature is off. Press 'Door Alarm' to toggle. Light indicates active status.

Filter Reset

Resets water filter status tracking after filter replacement. See Owner's Manual for "Water Filtration System". After replacement, press and hold 'Filter Reset' for 3 seconds until 'Order' or 'Replace' light turns off.

User Preferences

Temperature Display (F/C)

Change display unit: 'F' for Fahrenheit, 'C' for Celsius.

Alarm (AL)

Disable audible alarms: 'On' for sound, 'Off' for silence.

To Access User Preferences:

Press and hold 'Door Alarm' for 3 seconds. Preference name appears in freezer display; status (F/C or On/Off) in refrigerator display.
Use freezer [+] or [-] to scroll names. Use refrigerator [+] or [-] to change status.
Save by holding 'Door Alarm' for 3 seconds or closing the refrigerator door.
