Introduction

The Minolta MNCD50 Car Camcorder integrates multiple functions of 1080p HD video capture, sound recording, and external memory storage. It adopts video decoding technology of high performance and compression ratios, and contains an HDMI interface capable of transferring HD videos and audio data with several sound channels uncompressed. This camcorder is intended for in-vehicle shooting, effectively enabling the collection of evidence for driving accidents, daily life, traveling, and outdoor activities.

The Minolta MNCD50 allows you to record video when mounted to your car's windshield in a wide, large angle.

This quick guide explains how to use your camcorder and provides additional information, including precautions and technical specifications. Please read through it carefully and understand this quick guide before use. Keep it properly stored away for reference.

Overview

The Minolta MNCD50 Dash Cam features the following components:

Front/Side View:

  • 1. Display: The screen showing the camera's view and settings.
  • 2. Status LED Indicator: Indicates the camera's operational status.
  • 3. Speaker & Microphone: For audio output and input.
  • 4. Reset Button: Used to reset the camera.
  • 5. OK/Record Button: Starts/stops recording or confirms selections.
  • 6. Lock File/Parking Monitor Button: Locks the current file or activates parking monitor.
  • 7. Mode Button: Switches between Video, Photo, and Playback modes.
  • 8. Power Button: Turns the camera on/off.
  • 13. Front Lens: The primary lens for capturing video and photos.

Back/Side View:

  • 9. MicroSD Card Slot: For inserting the memory card.
  • 10. Up Button: Navigates up in menus or rewinds video.
  • 11. Menu Button: Accesses the settings menu.
  • 12. Down Button: Navigates down in menus or fast-forwards video.
  • 14. USB Port: For connecting to a computer or power source.
  • 15. Mount Port: For attaching the camera to a mount.
  • 16. HDMI Port: For connecting to a TV or display.

Getting Started

MicroSD Card Insertion and Removal

  • Ensure the camera is powered off.
  • Insert a MicroSD card into the MicroSD card slot with the gold pins facing the display screen. The card can only be inserted in one direction; do not force it. It will click when successfully inserted.
  • To remove the MicroSD card, push it in, and it will bounce back out.

Power

In-Car Use:

Connect the included Auxiliary USB Power Adaptor to your car and plug the USB into the camcorder's USB interface. Charging begins immediately. The internal battery has limited capacity and is intended for emergency use.

USB Cord Use:

Connect the included USB cable to a free USB port on your computer and the other end into the camcorder's USB interface. The battery can be charged while the camcorder is powered on or off.

While charging, the red indicator LED illuminates. It turns off automatically when charging is complete.

Camcorder Operation

Quick Use

Simply insert a MicroSD card and the auxiliary power adaptor into the camera's USB port and your car's power port. The camcorder will automatically power on and begin recording. Remove the power adaptor to save the recording and power off. To start or stop recording at any time, press the RECORD button.

General Operation

Press the POWER button to turn the camcorder on. It will automatically begin recording if a MicroSD card is inserted and motion detection or G-sensor is enabled. Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds to manually power off.

To switch between video, photo, and playback modes, press the MODE button. MODE icons are displayed in the upper left corner of the screen. Press the RECORD button to begin recording video or to capture a photo.

The Photo Mode interface shows:

  7. Number of Pictures Remaining
  8. Current Photo Resolution

Playback Mode

Press the MODE button until you enter PLAYBACK mode (the third mode). This mode allows you to browse and playback recorded photos and videos.

  • Press the UP and DOWN buttons to cycle through available playback files.
  • Press the MODE button again to exit PLAYBACK mode.

Playing Back Video Clips

  • Press the RECORD button to play or stop a video clip.
  • To fast forward, press the DOWN button while video is playing.
  • To rewind, press the UP button while video is playing.
  • Press the MENU button to delete a file or protect it from deletion.

Video Mode Menu Options

  • Resolution: Sets video recording size. 1080FHD is the highest and clearest.
  • Loop Recording: Sets a maximum duration for each video clip.
  • WDR (Wide Dynamic Range): Balances lighting in scenes with very dark and bright areas.
  • Exposure: Determines image brightness.
  • Motion Detection: Automatically records if movement is detected. Stops recording if no movement occurs for 10 seconds.
  • Record Audio: Enables or disables audio recording.
  • Date Stamp: Adds a date and time stamp to video clips.
  • G-Sensor: Sets sensitivity for automatic recording upon collision. Recordings are stored with a ?️ icon and are protected from deletion.

Photo Mode Menu Options

  • Resolution: Sets photo capture size. 12M is the highest and clearest.
  • Sequence: Captures 5 consecutive images, 2 seconds apart.
  • Quality: Determines photo quality (Fine is highest).
  • Sharpness: Adjusts image brilliance.
  • White Balance: Sets the correct white color for photos.
  • ISO: Adjusts image sensor sensitivity.
  • Exposure: Determines image brightness.
  • Anti-Shaking: Enables digital image stabilization for photos.
  • Date Stamp: Adds a date and time stamp to captured photos.

Setup / Main Menu Options

  • Park Mode: Automatically records a video clip if a collision is detected while parked and powered off. Sensitivity can be set.
  • Date/Time: Sets the date and time for display on videos and photos.
  • Auto Power Off: Sets the delay time for automatic power off after power disconnection.
  • Screen Saver: Sets the duration for the screen to turn off during recording. Setting to OFF disables the screen saver.
  • Beep Sound: Enables or disables button press sounds.
  • Language: Sets the menu and interface language.
  • Frequency: Sets the power frequency (50Hz or 60Hz) based on region.
  • Car Plate: Allows input of a license plate number or car identification number.
  • Format: Deletes all contents of the inserted MicroSD card (irreversible).
  • Default Setting: Resets all settings to factory defaults.
  • Version: Displays the current firmware version.

Imprinting Car Number or License Plate:

To imprint your CAR NUMBER or LICENSE PLATE NUMBER on recorded media:

  • In PHOTO or VIDEO mode, press MENU twice to access SETUP/MAIN settings.
  • Navigate to "Car Plate" using UP/DOWN buttons and press RECORD to access the submenu.
  • You have 8 spaces for characters. The first space is selected. Use UP/DOWN to cycle through letters, numbers, and blank spaces.
  • Press RECORD to confirm a character and move to the next space.
  • Repeat until character entry is complete.
  • Press MENU again to save and exit.

Media Transfer

Connecting to a Computer

Connect the camcorder to a computer using the included USB cable. The camcorder will power on automatically. Select "Mass Storage" and press RECORD to continue. Access the device via "Start → My Computers" as a removable disk to find your media stored in a folder.

Connecting to a TV

Connect the camcorder to a TV using an HDMI cable (not included) for playing and browsing videos and photos.

Reset

If the camcorder freezes or becomes unresponsive, press the RESET button. Insert a pointy object into the reset hole to fully reset the camcorder.
