The Minolta MNCD60 Car Camcorder offers 1080p HD video capture, high-resolution photo capture, and a compact design. It utilizes advanced video decoding technology for excellent video quality and compression. This camcorder is designed for in-vehicle use, capturing evidence for driving incidents, daily life, travel, and outdoor activities. It records video from your car's windshield with a wide, large angle.
This guide explains how to use your camcorder, including precautions and technical specifications. Please read it carefully before use and store it for future reference.
Safety and Handling Precautions
- Do not attempt to service the camcorder yourself.
- Do not expose the camcorder to moisture or extreme temperatures.
- Allow the camera to warm up when moving from cold to warm environments.
- Avoid touching or applying pressure to the camera lens.
- Do not expose the lens to direct sunlight for extended periods.
- Clean the product with a slightly damp soft cloth. Do not use abrasive chemicals, cleaning solvents, or strong detergents.
- It is normal for the camera body to feel warm during extended use.
- Do not subject the LCD monitor to impact.
- To prevent fire or electric shock, do not expose the appliance to rain or moisture.
1. Getting Started
1.1 Overview
The Minolta MNCD60 dashcam features the following components:
- Device Front: The front of the dashcam features the main lens. Buttons below the screen are labeled 'MODE', 'POWER' (with a power symbol ⏻), and 'OK'. A Status LED is also present.
- Device Top/Side: The top of the dashcam has a mounting port and a MicroSD card slot. A microphone is also visible.
- Device Back: The back of the dashcam features the LCD display screen.
- Mounting Assembly: The windshield mount attaches to the dashcam via a USB/Mount Port and includes a sticky pad for attachment to the windshield.
- Ports: Key ports include: Memory Card Slot, USB/Mount Port, Microphone, Lens, Speaker, USB Power Port, and Accessory Port.
1.2 Buttons and Functions Explanation

1.3 Memory Card Insertion and Removal
To insert a MicroSD card, ensure the camcorder is off. Insert the card into the MicroSD card slot with the gold pins facing the display screen. The card can only be inserted in one direction and will click into place. To remove the card, push it in, and it will bounce back out.
Warning: Do not remove or insert the memory card when recording. Doing so may cause the card to become damaged or cause data loss.
1.4 Swivel Lens
The front lens housing of the dashcam can swivel in any direction to adjust the viewing angle. It is recommended to adjust the lens after the dashcam is mounted.
1.5 Windshield Mount
To mount the dashcam, first attach the windshield mount to the dashcam's USB port. Peel off the red backing from the sticky pad on the mount and apply it to the top center of a clean windshield. Connect the smaller USB plug of the DC power adapter to the dashcam mount's USB port, and the larger end to your vehicle's power port.
Note: The sticky pad's adhesion may decrease if removed and reapplied. An extra sticky sheet is included.
1.6 Startup
1.6.1 In-Car Use
Connect the included DC power adapter to your car's power port. Plug the USB plug into the dashcam mount's USB port and connect the mount to the dashcam. Charging will begin immediately.
Note: The dashcam's internal battery has limited capacity and is intended for emergency use.
While charging, the LCD monitor displays battery status: a lightning bolt symbol ⚡ indicates connection to auxiliary power and charging. Two battery bars indicate disconnection from auxiliary power and running on battery.
1.6.2 USB Cord / Computer Use
Connect the included USB cable to a USB port on your computer and the other end to the dashcam mount's USB port. The battery may charge whether the camcorder is on or off.
2. Using Your Camcorder
Quick Use Instructions
Insert the memory card, connect the auxiliary power adapter to the dashcam mount's USB port and your car's power port. The camcorder will power on and begin recording within seconds. To manually stop recording, press the MENU button to save the file and enter the system menu. The dashcam can also be powered off by removing the DC power adapter.
3. Camcorder Operation
Once the memory card is inserted and the dashcam is plugged into a power source, it will automatically power on. Manual power on/off can be done by pressing the POWER button for 3 seconds. There are two operation modes: Capture Mode and Menu Mode. Short press the MODE button to cycle between them.
3.1 Capture Mode
Upon powering on, the dashcam defaults to Capture Mode and begins recording automatically. Press the MODE button to start or stop recording, which also enters Menu Mode. Pressing MODE again reverts to Capture Mode for recording.
3.2 Menu Mode
Press the MODE button once to enter Menu Mode and adjust settings. Cycle through submenus to configure the dashcam. Press the MODE button again to exit Menu Mode and return to Capture Mode.
3.3 Playback
To review video and photo files, press the MODE button, then short press the POWER / MODE button until the desired file appears. The most recent file is displayed first.
- Use the UP and DOWN buttons to cycle through playback files.
- Press the MENU button to delete or protect a file.
- Press the POWER / MODE button again to exit PLAYBACK mode.
Playing Back Video Clips
- Press the OK button to play or pause a video clip in PLAYBACK mode.
- Press the MENU button to delete or protect a file.
3.4 Main Screen and Icons Explanation
CAPTURE MODE
The Capture Mode screen displays:

4. Capture and Menu Modes Interface
4.1 Capture Mode
The primary function of a dashcam is to record events from the windshield's perspective. Capture Mode prioritizes video recording, ensuring the dashcam is always recording when in this mode. Upon powering on, the dashcam defaults to Capture Mode and begins recording. Pressing the MODE button starts/stops recording and enters Menu Mode. Pressing MODE again returns to Capture Mode.
On-screen icons and their functions in Capture Mode:
- Menu (☰): Press to stop recording and enter Menu Mode.
- Photo Mode (?): Press to enter Photo Capture Mode. Press again to return to Video Capture mode.
- Photo Capture (?): This icon appears only in Photo Mode. Press this button to capture a photo.
- Power (⏻): Press once to turn the LCD display on/off. Hold for 3 seconds to manually power off the dashcam.
- Microphone (?): Press to enable or disable audio recording on video clips.
- Quick Lock (?): Press to lock or unlock the current video recording.
4.2 Menu Mode
The dashcam offers user-adjustable settings to customize video capture. Settings are pre-optimized for ease of use. Access Menu Mode by pressing the MODE button. Below is a summary of submenu features and options.
Note: Entering Menu Mode stops recording. Press MODE again to return to Capture Mode.
4.2.1 Playback Files
Review recorded video and photo files directly from the camcorder.
- In Capture Mode, press MENU. Select ‘Playback Files’ using UP or DOWN buttons.
- Press OK to enter the ‘Playback Files’ submenu.
- Use UP or DOWN buttons to navigate and select from Videos, Locked Videos, or Photos.
- Press OK to confirm your selection.
- Use UP or DOWN buttons to scroll through recorded files.
- Press OK to enter a recorded file.
- Press MENU to return to previous menus.
- Press MENU again to exit the settings menu and return to Capture Mode, resuming recording automatically.
4.2.2 Delete Files
Delete recorded video and photo files from the camcorder.
- In Capture Mode, press MENU. Select ‘Delete Files’ using UP or DOWN buttons.
- Press OK to enter the ‘Delete Files’ submenu.
- Use UP or DOWN buttons to navigate and select from Videos, Locked Videos, or Photos.
- Press OK to confirm your selection.
- Choose between “Delete One” or “Delete All”.
- Press OK to confirm your choice.
- Use UP or DOWN buttons to scroll through recorded files.
- Press OK to delete a selected file.
- Use UP or DOWN buttons to highlight YES and press OK to confirm deletion.
- Press MENU to return to previous menus.
- Press MENU again to exit the settings menu and return to Capture Mode, resuming recording automatically.
4.2.3 Speaker Volume
Adjust the dashcam’s speaker volume.
- In Capture Mode, press MENU. Select ‘Speaker Volume’ using UP or DOWN buttons.
- Press OK to enter the ‘Speaker Volume’ submenu.
- Use UP or DOWN buttons to adjust the volume.
- Press OK to confirm your setting.
- Press MENU to exit and return to Capture Mode, resuming recording automatically.
4.2.4 Video Resolution
Select from preset resolution and frame rates. Higher resolution provides better quality but results in larger files.
- In Capture Mode, press MENU. Select ‘Video Resolution’ using UP or DOWN buttons.
- Press OK to enter the ‘Video Resolution’ submenu.
- Use UP or DOWN buttons to select a setting: 1080p (highest quality) or 720p (medium quality).
- Press OK to confirm your selection.
- Press MENU to exit and return to Capture Mode, resuming recording automatically.
4.2.5 Video Clip Duration
Set the maximum duration for each video clip. The dashcam will record clips of the selected length and seamlessly start a new file when the duration is reached.
- In Capture Mode, press MENU. Select ‘Video Clip Duration’ using UP or DOWN buttons.
- Press OK to enter the ‘Video Clip Duration’ submenu.
- Use UP or DOWN buttons to select a duration: 1 Minute, 2 Minutes, or 3 Minutes.
- Press OK to confirm your selection.
- Press MENU to exit and return to Capture Mode, resuming recording automatically.
4.2.6 Exposure
Adjust the brightness levels of the captured video.
- In Capture Mode, press MENU. Select ‘Exposure’ using UP or DOWN buttons.
- Press OK to enter the ‘Exposure’ submenu.
- Use UP or DOWN buttons to select a setting from -2 to +2.
- Press OK to confirm your selection.
- Press MENU to exit and return to Capture Mode, resuming recording automatically.
4.2.7 Front Move Alert
Enable or disable Front Car Move Detection (FCMD). When enabled, the dashcam alerts you to drive forward if a vehicle ahead moves while yours remains stationary. This feature promotes better driving habits.
- In Capture Mode, press MENU. Select ‘Front Move Alert’ using UP or DOWN buttons.
- Press OK to enter the ‘Front Move Alert’ submenu.
- Use UP or DOWN buttons to select Enable or Disable.
- Press OK to confirm your selection.
- Press MENU to exit and return to Capture Mode, resuming recording automatically.
4.2.8 Lane Departure
Enable or disable the Lane Departure Guide. When active, a yellow guide appears on screen to help maintain your lane. Alerts are provided if drifting occurs above 40 MPH. The guide is visible only on the dashcam screen, not in recorded video.
- In Capture Mode, press MENU. Select ‘Lane Departure’ using UP or DOWN buttons.
- Press OK to enter the ‘Lane Departure’ submenu.
- Use UP or DOWN buttons to select Enable or Disable.
- Press OK to confirm your selection.
- Press MENU to exit and return to Capture Mode, resuming recording automatically.
4.2.9 Front Collision
Enable or disable Front Collision Warning. This system helps maintain a safe distance from the vehicle ahead, alerting the driver if they get too close. This feature promotes better driving habits.
- In Capture Mode, press MENU. Select ‘Front Collision’ using UP or DOWN buttons.
- Press OK to enter the ‘Front Collision’ submenu.
- Use UP or DOWN buttons to select Enable or Disable.
- Press OK to confirm your selection.
- Press MENU to exit and return to Capture Mode, resuming recording automatically.
4.2.10 Speed Limit Alert
Set up a Speed Limit Alert. When enabled, the dashcam alerts you if you exceed the selected speed rating. GPS Logging must also be enabled for this feature to function. This feature promotes better driving habits.
- In Capture Mode, press MENU. Select ‘Speed Limit Alert’ using UP or DOWN buttons.
- Press OK to enter the ‘Speed Limit Alert’ submenu.
- Use UP or DOWN buttons to select a speed range from Off, 60mph to 120mph.
- Press OK to confirm your selection.
- Press MENU to exit and return to Capture Mode, resuming recording automatically.
4.2.11 Audio Recording
Enable or disable audio recording on captured video files. You can also quickly toggle audio capture using the Down/Next button.
- In Capture Mode, press MENU. Select ‘Audio Recording’ using UP or DOWN buttons.
- Press OK to enter the ‘Audio Recording’ submenu.
- Use UP or DOWN buttons to select Enable or Disable.
- Press OK to confirm your selection.
- Press MENU to exit and return to Capture Mode, resuming recording automatically.
4.2.12 GPS Status
Displays current GPS status and coordinates. GPS coordinates are shown only if the windshield mount is attached, GPS is enabled in settings, and the dashcam has a clear view of the sky.
- In Capture Mode, press MENU. Select ‘GPS Coordinates’ using UP or DOWN buttons.
- Press OK to enter the ‘GPS Coordinates’ submenu.
- Press MENU to exit and return to Capture Mode, resuming recording automatically.
4.2.13 Collision Sensitivity
Set the sensitivity level for automatic recording upon collision. When triggered, the recording is locked and saved in the ‘Locked Videos’ folder.
- In Capture Mode, press MENU. Select ‘Collision Sensitivity’ using UP or DOWN buttons.
- Press OK to enter the ‘Collision Sensitivity’ submenu.
- Use UP or DOWN buttons to select a setting: Off, Low, Middle, or High.
- Press OK to confirm your selection.
- Press MENU to exit and return to Capture Mode, resuming recording automatically.
4.2.14 Parking Sensitivity
Allows the camcorder to automatically power on and record a clip if a collision is detected while parked and powered off. This setting requires sufficient battery power. Triggered recordings are locked in the ‘Locked Videos’ folder.
- In Capture Mode, press MENU. Select ‘Parking Sensitivity’ using UP or DOWN buttons.
- Press OK to enter the ‘Parking Sensitivity’ submenu.
- Use UP or DOWN buttons to select a setting: Off, Low, Middle, or High.
- Press OK to confirm your selection.
- Press MENU to exit and return to Capture Mode, resuming recording automatically.
4.2.15 Speed Unit
Adjust the speed unit for the Speed Limit Alert.
- In Capture Mode, press MENU. Select ‘Speed Unit’ using UP or DOWN buttons.
- Press OK to enter the ‘Speed Unit’ submenu.
- Use UP or DOWN buttons to select a unit: km/h or mph.
- Press OK to confirm your selection.
- Press MENU to exit and return to Capture Mode, resuming recording automatically.
4.2.16 Date & Time Stamp
Enable or disable a date and time stamp on recorded videos and photos. Once recorded, the imprint cannot be removed.
- In Capture Mode, press MENU. Select ‘Date & Time Stamp’ using UP or DOWN buttons.
- Press OK to enter the ‘Date & Time Stamp’ submenu.
- Use UP or DOWN buttons to select a setting: Date, Date & Time, or Off.
- Press OK to confirm your selection.
- Press MENU to exit and return to Capture Mode, resuming recording automatically.
4.2.17 Date & Time Setup
Set the date and time displayed on videos and photos.
- In Capture Mode, press MENU. Select ‘Date & Time Setup’ using UP or DOWN buttons.
- Press OK to enter the ‘Date & Time Setup’ submenu.
- The menu displays fields for Date (MM/DD/YYYY) and Time (HH:MM:SS, 24-hour format).
- Use UP or DOWN buttons to adjust values. Press OK to confirm a value and move to the next field.
- Press OK to confirm all selected settings.
- Press MENU to exit and return to Capture Mode, resuming recording automatically.
4.2.18 Time Zone Setup
Adjust the Time Zone setting.
- In Capture Mode, press MENU. Select ‘Time Zone Setup’ using UP or DOWN buttons.
- Press OK to enter the ‘Time Zone Setup’ submenu.
- Use UP or DOWN buttons to select a time zone range from -12:00 to +14:00.
- Press OK to confirm your selection.
- Press MENU to exit and return to Capture Mode, resuming recording automatically.
4.2.19 GPS Logging
Enable or disable GPS geotagging for your videos. A GPS geotag is a log file attached to recorded videos, allowing you to review your exact GPS location during playback on a PC with compatible software.
- In Capture Mode, press MENU. Select ‘GPS Satellite’ using UP or DOWN buttons.
- Press OK to enter the ‘GPS Satellite’ submenu.
- Use UP or DOWN buttons to select Enable or Disable.
- Press OK to confirm your selection.
- Press MENU to exit and return to Capture Mode, resuming recording automatically.
4.2.20 Screen Auto Shut Off
Set the time before the LCD screen turns off automatically.
- In Capture Mode, press MENU. Select ‘Screen Auto Shut Off’ using UP or DOWN buttons.
- Press OK to enter the ‘Screen Auto Shut Off’ submenu.
- Use UP or DOWN buttons to select a time: Off, 1 Minute, or 3 Minutes.
- Press OK to confirm your selection.
- Press MENU to exit and return to Capture Mode, resuming recording automatically.
4.2.21 Beep Sound
Enable or disable button press “beep” sounds.
- In Capture Mode, press MENU. Select ‘Beep Sound’ using UP or DOWN buttons.
- Press OK to enter the ‘Beep Sound’ submenu.
- Use UP or DOWN buttons to select Enable or Disable.
- Press OK to confirm your selection.
- Press MENU to exit and return to Capture Mode, resuming recording automatically.
4.2.22 Language
Set the language for the dashcam menu.
- In Capture Mode, press MENU. Select ‘Language’ using UP or DOWN buttons.
- Press OK to enter the ‘Language’ submenu.
- Use UP or DOWN buttons to select a language.
- Press OK to confirm your selection.
- Press MENU to exit and return to Capture Mode, resuming recording automatically.
4.2.23 Frequency
Set the power frequency based on your region. The setting for North America is 60Hz.
- In Capture Mode, press MENU. Select ‘Frequency’ using UP or DOWN buttons.
- Press OK to enter the ‘Frequency’ submenu.
- Use UP or DOWN buttons to select 50 Hz or 60 Hz.
- Press OK to confirm your selection.
- Press MENU to exit and return to Capture Mode, resuming recording automatically.
4.2.24 Reset Settings
Reset all menu settings to factory defaults. This function does not delete media stored on the memory card.
- In Capture Mode, press MENU. Select ‘Reset Settings’ using UP or DOWN buttons.
- Press OK to enter the ‘Reset Settings’ submenu.
- Use UP or DOWN buttons to navigate and select YES or NO.
- Press OK to confirm your selection.
- Press MENU to exit and return to Capture Mode, resuming recording automatically.
4.2.25 Format Memory Card
Erase all video and photo files stored on your memory card. Use extreme caution, as formatted media cannot be recovered.
- In Capture Mode, press MENU. Select ‘Format Memory Card’ using UP or DOWN buttons.
- Press OK to enter the ‘Format Memory Card’ submenu.
- Use UP or DOWN buttons to navigate and select YES or NO.
- Press OK to confirm your selection.
- Press MENU to exit and return to Capture Mode, resuming recording automatically.
4.2.26 FW Version
Displays the current firmware version of your camcorder.
- In Capture Mode, press MENU. Select ‘FW Version’ using UP or DOWN buttons.
- Press OK to enter the ‘FW Version’ submenu. The current firmware version will be displayed.
- Press MENU to exit and return to Capture Mode, resuming recording automatically.
5. Media Transfer & GPS Log Playback
5.1 Connecting to a Computer
Connect your dashcam to a computer using the included USB cable. Connect the cable directly to the dashcam's USB port on its body, not the mount.
After connecting, the dashcam will power on and present three options on the LCD screen: MSDC (Mass Storage Mode for downloading files), PCam (PC camera mode), or DV (Dashcam mode). Use the UP, DOWN, and OK keys to navigate.
In MSDC mode, the camcorder acts as a memory card reader. On a Windows PC, navigate to Start → This PC → Removable Disk. Your media will be stored in three folders: Videos, Photos, and Locked Videos.
5.2 Playing Back Video Files with GPS Log
Special software is required for playing back videos with GPS logs. Visit www.minoltadigital.com for the latest software. For playback without a GPS log, VLC Player is recommended, available for free download at www.videolan.org.
