The Minolta MNCD2K10 Car Dash Cam integrates 2K HD video capture, high-resolution photo capture, and a compact form factor. It utilizes advanced video decoding technology for excellent video quality. This dash cam is intended for in-vehicle recording, useful for collecting evidence in accidents, documenting daily life, travel, and outdoor activities. It mounts to your car's windshield, offering a wide, large angle view.

This guide explains how to use your dash cam, including precautions and technical specifications. Please read it carefully before use and keep it for future reference.

Safety and Handling Precautions

  • Do not attempt to service the dash cam yourself.
  • Do not expose the dash cam to moisture or extreme temperatures.
  • Allow the camera to warm up when moving from cold to warm environments.
  • Do not touch or apply pressure to the camera lens.
  • Do not expose the lens to direct sunlight for extended periods.
  • Do not use abrasive chemicals, cleaning solvents, or strong detergents. Clean the product with a slightly damp soft cloth.
  • It is normal for the camera body to feel warm during extended use.
  • Do not subject the LCD monitor to impact.
  • To prevent fire or electric shock, do not expose this appliance to rain or moisture.

1. Getting Started

1.1 Overview

The Minolta MNCD2K10 Dash Cam features the following components:

1.2 Button and Functions Explanation

Function Description
Display Shows current view, menu, options, and statuses.
Power Press and hold for 3 seconds to power on/off. Tap to turn display on/off.
Mode Tap to cycle between Video, Photo, and Playback modes.
Down Menu navigation and playback use.
OK | Record OK button in menus; Record button in shooting modes.
Up | Record Audio Menu navigation and playback use; Tap to turn audio recording on/off.
Menu Accesses and exits menus and submenus.
Lock File Tap to protect a video while recording or in playback mode.
Microphone Built-in microphone for audio capture during video recording.
USB Port Power port and data transfer port for connecting to a computer.
IR LEDs IR LEDs to aid with night vision.
Windshield Mount Mount used to connect the dash cam to your windshield.
Memory Card Slot Storage slot for inserting your MicroSD memory card.
Speaker Built-in speaker output for playback of video files.
Lens Front capture device for all video and photo.
Reset Button Button for power cycling your dash cam if it freezes or becomes unresponsive.
Aux Camera HDMI Port Allows connection of an auxiliary camera (not included).

1.3 Memory Card Insertion and Removal

  1. Ensure the dash cam is powered off.
  2. Insert a MicroSD memory card into the slot with the gold pins facing the display screen. Do not force it; it only inserts in one direction. It will click when successfully inserted.
  3. To remove the MicroSD card, push it in, and it will bounce back out of the slot.

Warning: Do not remove or insert the memory card while recording. Doing so may damage the card or cause data loss.

1.4 Windshield Mount

The included windshield mount attaches to your vehicle's windshield. Simply connect the smaller plastic end of the mount to the front of your dash cam, and the suction cup to the top of your windshield. Ensure the windshield is clean, dry, and free of dirt or debris before applying.

NOTE: If the suction cup loses grip, clean the clear suction area thoroughly with soap and water. Allow it to dry for 2 hours before reapplying.

1.5 Startup

1.5.1 In-Car Use

Connect the included DC power adapter to your car's power port and plug the USB end into the dash cam's USB port. Charging begins immediately. The internal battery has limited capacity and is intended for emergency use only.

1.5.2 USB Cord / Computer Use

Connect the included USB cable to a free USB port on your computer and the other end to the dash cam's USB port. The battery can charge while the dash cam is powered on or off.

A red power indicator LED illuminates during charging. It turns off automatically when charging is complete. The dash cam acts as a memory card reader, allowing easy access to videos and photos stored on its memory card. To access files on your PC, navigate to 'Start' (or 'File Explorer') ➡️ 'This PC' and find the 'Removable Disk'.

1.5.3 Reset

If the dash cam freezes or becomes unresponsive, press the RESET button using a pointy object inserted into the reset hole on the front body to reset and power cycle the device. Refer to the illustration in Section 1 for the reset pinhole location.

1.5.4 Auxiliary Camera Port

The built-in HDMI auxiliary camera port allows connection of an additional camera (not included) to record two views simultaneously. Using an auxiliary camera is optional and not required for normal operation.

2. Using Your Dash Cam

Quick Use Instructions

Insert the MicroSD memory card, connect the power adapter to your car's power port and the dash cam's USB port. The dash cam will power on and begin recording automatically. To start or stop recording at any time, press the OK/RECORD button. You can remove the power adapter to automatically save the recording and power off the dash cam. Simply mount it, plug it in, and drive!

3. Dash Cam Operation

After inserting the memory card and connecting to a power source, the dash cam powers on and begins recording automatically. Press the OK button to stop recording. You can also manually power the dash cam on or off by pressing the POWER button for 2 seconds.

There are 3 operation modes: Video, Photo, and Playback. Cycle through modes by pressing the MODE button. The current mode is shown in the upper left corner of the display. Modes cannot be changed while recording; recording must stop first.

3.1 Video Capture Mode

Upon powering on, the dash cam defaults to Video Mode and starts recording automatically. Press the OK/RECORD button to start or stop recording. To manually capture video when in another mode, switch to VIDEO Mode and press OK/RECORD.

3.2 Photo Capture Mode

To capture a photo, enter PHOTO Mode by pressing the MODE button until a camera icon ? is displayed in the upper left corner. Press the OK/RECORD button to capture a photo instantly.

3.3 Playback Mode

To review video and photo files, enter PLAYBACK Mode by pressing the MODE button until a captured file is displayed. The most recent file appears first.

  1. Press the UP ⬆️ and DOWN ⬇️ buttons to cycle through available playback files.
  2. To delete or protect a file, press the MENU button ☰.
  3. Press the MODE button again to exit PLAYBACK mode.

Playing Back Video Clips

  • Press the OK/RECORD button ▶️ to play or pause a video clip.
  • To fast forward, press the DOWN ⬇️ button while video is playing.
  • To rewind, press the UP ⬆️ button while video is playing.
  • To delete or protect a file, press the MENU button ☰.

3.4 Main Screen and Icons Explanation

VIDEO MODE

The video mode screen displays various status icons:

  • 1. VIDEO Mode: Indicates the dash cam is in video recording mode.
  • 2. Recording Active: Shows that recording is currently in progress.
  • 3. Protected Video: Indicates a video file is locked and protected from deletion (? icon).
  • 4. Park Mode Enabled: Shows that Park Mode is active.
  • 5. Recording Time Elapsed: Displays the duration of the current recording.
  • 6. Current Video Resolution: Shows the selected video resolution (e.g., 1440P).
  • 7. Memory Card Inserted: Indicates that a memory card is present and recognized.
  • 8. Current Battery Level: Displays the remaining battery charge.
  • 9. Current Time: Shows the current time.
  • 10. Current Date: Shows the current date.
  • 11. Exposure Value: Indicates the current exposure setting.
  • 12. Motion Detection Enabled: Shows that motion detection is active.
  • 13. Loop Recording Enabled: Indicates that loop recording is active.

PHOTO MODE

The photo mode screen displays the following icons:

  • 1. PHOTO Mode: Indicates the dash cam is in photo capture mode.
  • 2. Digital Image Stabilization Enabled: Shows that image stabilization is active.
  • 3. Number of Pictures Remaining: Displays the estimated number of photos that can be taken with the current settings and memory card.
  • 4. Current Photo Resolution: Shows the selected photo resolution (e.g., 12M).
  • 5. Current Image Quality: Indicates the selected image quality setting.
  • 6. Memory Card Inserted: Shows that a memory card is present.
  • 7. Current Battery Level: Displays the remaining battery charge.
  • 8. Current Time: Shows the current time.
  • 9. Current Date: Shows the current date.
  • 10. ISO: Indicates the selected ISO sensitivity.
  • 11. White Balance: Shows the selected white balance setting.
  • 12. Exposure Value: Indicates the current exposure setting.

4. Menu & Settings Interface

4.1 Video Mode Settings

Customize your video recording experience with various settings. Ensure you are in VIDEO mode (indicated by a video icon ?) before accessing these settings. Press the MODE button once to confirm the current mode.

NOTE: The settings menu cannot be accessed while recording. Stop recording first by pressing the OK/RECORD button.

4.1.1 Video Resolution

Select the resolution for your video recordings. Higher resolutions produce better quality but larger files.

  1. In VIDEO mode, press the MENU button ☰. Select 'Video Resolution' using the UP ⬆️ or DOWN ⬇️ buttons. Press OK/RECORD ✔️ to enter the submenu.
  2. Navigate the submenu using UP ⬆️ or DOWN ⬇️ buttons and select a setting: 1440P (highest quality), 1080P (medium quality), or 720P (low quality).
  3. Press OK/RECORD ✔️ to confirm your selection.
  4. Press the MENU button ☰ twice to exit and return to the main status screen.

4.1.2 Loop Recording

Set a maximum duration for each video clip. Once the duration is reached, the dash cam seamlessly ends the current recording and starts a new file.

  1. In VIDEO mode, press MENU ☰. Select 'Loop Recording' using UP ⬆️ or DOWN ⬇️ buttons. Press OK/RECORD ✔️ to enter the submenu.
  2. Select a duration: OFF, 1 Minute Loop, 3 Minute Loop, or 5 Minute Loop.
  3. Press OK/RECORD ✔️ to confirm.
  4. Press MENU ☰ twice to exit.

4.1.3 Audio Recording

Enable or disable the built-in microphone for audio recording.

  1. In VIDEO mode, press MENU ☰. Select 'Audio Recording' using UP ⬆️ or DOWN ⬇️ buttons. Press OK/RECORD ✔️ to enter the submenu.
  2. Select from OFF or ON.
  3. Press OK/RECORD ✔️ to confirm.
  4. Press MENU ☰ twice to exit.

4.1.4 Motion Detection

Automatically begins recording when movement is detected in front of the lens. Recording stops if no movement is detected for 10 seconds. Manual recording can be stopped anytime by pressing OK/RECORD.

  1. In VIDEO mode, press MENU ☰. Select 'Motion Detection' using UP ⬆️ or DOWN ⬇️ buttons. Press OK/RECORD ✔️ to enter the submenu.
  2. Select from OFF or ON.
  3. Press OK/RECORD ✔️ to confirm.
  4. Press MENU ☰ twice to exit.

Note: When OFF, the dash cam will still automatically record upon startup if powered off.

4.1.5 Collision Sensitivity

Sets the sensitivity level for automatic recording upon collision. When triggered, recording begins and the file is stored with a ? icon, protected from deletion.

  1. In VIDEO mode, press MENU ☰. Select 'Collision Sensitivity' using UP ⬆️ or DOWN ⬇️ buttons. Press OK/RECORD ✔️ to enter the submenu.
  2. Select a sensitivity level: OFF, LOW, MEDIUM, or HIGH.
  3. Press OK/RECORD ✔️ to confirm.
  4. Press MENU ☰ twice to exit.

4.1.6 Date & Time Stamp

Imprints a date or date & time onto recorded video files. This imprint cannot be removed once applied.

  1. In VIDEO mode, press MENU ☰. Select 'Date & Time Stamp' using UP ⬆️ or DOWN ⬇️ buttons. Press OK/RECORD ✔️ to enter the submenu.
  2. Select from OFF, Date, or Date & Time.
  3. Press OK/RECORD ✔️ to confirm.
  4. Press MENU ☰ twice to exit.

4.2 Photo Mode Settings

Customize your photo capture settings. Ensure you are in PHOTO mode (indicated by a camera icon ?) before accessing these settings. Press the MODE button twice to confirm the current mode.

NOTE: The settings menu cannot be accessed while recording. Stop recording first by pressing the OK/RECORD button.

4.2.1 Photo Resolution

Select the resolution for your photos. Higher resolutions provide better quality but result in larger files.

  1. In PHOTO mode, press MENU ☰. Select 'Photo Resolution' using UP ⬆️ or DOWN ⬇️ buttons. Press OK/RECORD ✔️ to enter the submenu.
  2. Select a resolution: 12M Mega Pixels (highest), 8M Mega Pixels (high), 5M Mega Pixels (medium), 3M Mega Pixels (low), or 1.3M Mega Pixels (lowest).
  3. Press OK/RECORD ✔️ to confirm.
  4. Press MENU ☰ twice to exit.

4.2.2 Photo Stabilization

Enables electronic image stabilization to reduce blur in shaky or low-light conditions.

  1. In PHOTO mode, press MENU ☰. Select 'Photo Stabilization' using UP ⬆️ or DOWN ⬇️ buttons. Press OK/RECORD ✔️ to enter the submenu.
  2. Select from OFF or ON.
  3. Press OK/RECORD ✔️ to confirm.
  4. Press MENU ☰ twice to exit.

4.2.3 Photo Quality

Determines the compression level used when saving photos. Higher compression means lower quality but smaller file sizes.

  1. In PHOTO mode, press MENU ☰. Select 'Photo Quality' using UP ⬆️ or DOWN ⬇️ buttons. Press OK/RECORD ✔️ to enter the submenu.
  2. Select a quality: Super Fine (high quality, low compression), Fine (medium quality, medium compression), or Normal (low quality, high compression).
  3. Press OK/RECORD ✔️ to confirm.
  4. Press MENU ☰ twice to exit.

4.2.4 Photo Sharpness

Adjusts the visible detail in captured photos.

  1. In PHOTO mode, press MENU ☰. Select 'Photo Sharpness' using UP ⬆️ or DOWN ⬇️ buttons. Press OK/RECORD ✔️ to enter the submenu.
  2. Select a sharpness level: Hard (sharp, saturated), Normal (medium sharpness), or Light (soft, duller).
  3. Press OK/RECORD ✔️ to confirm.
  4. Press MENU ☰ twice to exit.

4.2.5 White Balance

Adjusts the color temperature of photos to compensate for different lighting conditions.

  1. In PHOTO mode, press MENU ☰. Select 'White Balance' using UP ⬆️ or DOWN ⬇️ buttons. Press OK/RECORD ✔️ to enter the submenu.
  2. Select a setting: Auto, Daylight, Cloudy, Tungsten, or Fluorescent.
  3. Press OK/RECORD ✔️ to confirm.
  4. Press MENU ☰ twice to exit.

4.2.6 ISO

Determines the light sensitivity for photos.

  1. In PHOTO mode, press MENU ☰. Select 'ISO' using UP ⬆️ or DOWN ⬇️ buttons. Press OK/RECORD ✔️ to enter the submenu.
  2. Select an ISO value: Auto, 100, or 200.
  3. Press OK/RECORD ✔️ to confirm.
  4. Press MENU ☰ twice to exit.

4.2.7 Date & Time Stamp

Imprints a date or date & time onto captured photos. This imprint cannot be removed once applied.

  1. In PHOTO mode, press MENU ☰. Select 'Date & Time Stamp' using UP ⬆️ or DOWN ⬇️ buttons. Press OK/RECORD ✔️ to enter the submenu.
  2. Select from OFF, Date, or Date & Time.
  3. Press OK/RECORD ✔️ to confirm.
  4. Press MENU ☰ twice to exit.

4.3 Playback Mode Settings

Access Playback Mode by pressing the MODE button twice. The current mode is displayed in the upper right corner. Press MODE again to cycle through modes.

4.3.1 Delete

Delete recorded video and photo files directly from the dash cam.

  1. In PLAYBACK mode, press MENU ☰. Select 'Delete' using UP ⬆️ or DOWN ⬇️ buttons. Press OK/RECORD ✔️ to enter the submenu.
  2. Select 'Delete Current' or 'Delete All'.
  3. Press OK/RECORD ✔️ to confirm.
  4. Press OK/RECORD ✔️ again to confirm or cancel deletion.
  5. Press MENU ☰ twice to exit.

NOTE: Deleted media cannot be recovered. Only locked files are protected from deletion.

4.3.2 Protect

Lock video and photo files to prevent accidental deletion.

  1. In PLAYBACK mode, press MENU ☰. Select 'Protect' using UP ⬆️ or DOWN ⬇️ buttons. Press OK/RECORD ✔️ to enter the submenu.
  2. Select an option: Lock Current, Unlock Current, Lock All, or Unlock All.
  3. Press OK/RECORD ✔️ to confirm.
  4. Press OK/RECORD ✔️ again to confirm or cancel locking/unlocking.
  5. Press MENU ☰ twice to exit.

4.4 Setup Settings Menu

The Setup Settings Menu is accessible in any mode. Press the MENU button ☰ twice. The menu will move to the Setup Settings tab.

NOTE: The settings menu cannot be accessed while recording. Stop recording first by pressing the OK/RECORD button.

4.4.1 Park Mode Sensitivity

Automatically powers on and records a video clip if a collision is detected while parked and the dash cam is powered off. This feature requires sufficient battery power. Recordings are stored with a ? icon and protected from deletion.

  1. In any mode, press MENU ☰ twice. Select 'Park Mode Sensitivity' using UP ⬆️ or DOWN ⬇️ buttons. Press OK/RECORD ✔️ to enter the submenu.
  2. Select a sensitivity level: OFF, LOW, MEDIUM, or HIGH.
  3. Press OK/RECORD ✔️ to confirm.
  4. Press MENU ☰ twice to exit.

4.4.2 Date & Time Setup

Set the date and time for display on videos and photos.

  1. In any mode, press MENU ☰ twice. Select 'Date & Time Setup' using UP ⬆️ or DOWN ⬇️ buttons. Press OK/RECORD ✔️ to enter the submenu.
  2. The menu displays: Date (MM / DD / YYYY), Time (HH : MM : SS in 24-hour format), and Date Format (changeable).
  3. Use UP ⬆️ or DOWN ⬇️ buttons to change values. Press OK/RECORD ✔️ to confirm each value and proceed.
  4. Press MENU ☰ twice to save settings and exit.

4.4.3 Auto Power Off Delay

Sets the delay time for the dash cam to automatically power off after the car's ignition is turned off or power is disconnected.

  1. In any mode, press MENU ☰ twice. Select 'Auto Power Off Delay' using UP ⬆️ or DOWN ⬇️ buttons. Press OK/RECORD ✔️ to enter the submenu.
  2. Select a delay: OFF, 1 Minute, or 3 Minutes.
  3. Press OK/RECORD ✔️ to confirm.
  4. Press MENU ☰ twice to exit.

4.4.4 Language

Set the language for the dash cam's menus.

  1. In any mode, press MENU ☰ twice. Select 'Language' using UP ⬆️ or DOWN ⬇️ buttons. Press OK/RECORD ✔️ to enter the submenu.
  2. Select from the available languages.
  3. Press OK/RECORD ✔️ to confirm.
  4. Press MENU ☰ twice to exit.

4.4.5 Frequency

Sets the power frequency based on your region (e.g., 60Hz for North America).

  1. In any mode, press MENU ☰ twice. Select 'Frequency' using UP ⬆️ or DOWN ⬇️ buttons. Press OK/RECORD ✔️ to enter the submenu.
  2. Select from 50Hz or 60Hz.
  3. Press OK/RECORD ✔️ to confirm.
  4. Press MENU ☰ twice to exit.

4.4.6 Format Memory Card

Erases all video and photo files stored on the memory card. Use with extreme caution.

  1. In any mode, press MENU ☰ twice. Select 'Format Memory Card' using UP ⬆️ or DOWN ⬇️ buttons. Press OK/RECORD ✔️ to enter the submenu.
  2. Select 'Cancel' or 'OK'.
  3. Press OK/RECORD ✔️ to confirm.
  4. Press MENU ☰ twice to exit.

NOTE: Formatting the memory card permanently erases all data. There is no way to recover formatted media.

4.4.7 Reset to Default

Resets all menu settings to the factory default. This function does not delete media stored on the memory card.

  1. In any mode, press MENU ☰ twice. Select 'Reset to Default' using UP ⬆️ or DOWN ⬇️ buttons. Press OK/RECORD ✔️ to enter the submenu.
  2. Select 'Cancel' or 'OK'.
  3. Press OK/RECORD ✔️ to confirm.
  4. Press MENU ☰ twice to exit.

4.4.8 Firmware Version

Displays the current firmware version of your dash cam.

  1. In any mode, press MENU ☰ twice. Select 'Firmware Version' using UP ⬆️ or DOWN ⬇️ buttons. Press OK/RECORD ✔️ to enter the submenu.
  2. The current firmware version will be displayed.
  3. Press MENU ☰ twice to exit.
