Description
The Abestorm crawlspace ventilator series is engineered to circulate fresh outdoor air into crawlspaces, supporting structural integrity by managing humidity. High humidity levels can promote fungal growth, increase termite activity, and cause pipes to rust, corrode, and fail.
The NeatyFresh 260, NeatyFresh 540, and NeatyFresh 720 models are equipped with a humidity switch. If the relative humidity rises above a selected set value, the fan will activate. The system is designed to prevent operation when outdoor temperatures fall below 35°F. When the outdoor temperature rises to near 50°F, the fan will resume normal operation.
Precautions
Before installation and maintenance, read all instructions and relevant local codes. In the absence of specific codes, follow the latest versions of the International Housing Code and the International Electrical Code.
- Improper installation or modification may void the manufacturer's warranty.
- Always disconnect the power supply before servicing or replacing fans.
- Avoid operation when outdoor temperatures fall below 35°F.
- Do not operate the unit in the presence of hazardous vapors.
Required Tools
- Grounded electrical outlet within 6 feet of the ventilator location.
- Screwdriver
- Drill
- Level
- Measuring tape
- Caulking gun
- Screws, washers, and nuts
Installation
Install vents a minimum of 3 feet from the corner of a building. Ensure the ventilator is placed appropriately within the crawlspace.
- Position the crawl space ventilator above the vent opening.
- Secure the crawl space ventilator to the wall using 4 screws.
- Attach the crawl space vents to the building using screws, washers, and nuts at the four corners of the metal panel of the vent.
Mounting Plate Modification: If the mounting plate requires modification to fit the opening, follow these recommendations. Be careful when trimming the mounting plate to avoid damage to the power cord.
Diagrams illustrate the process of modifying the mounting plate to fit various crawlspace vent openings. Caution is advised when trimming to prevent damage to the power cord. Specific measurements for minimum cuts are shown for the NeatyFresh 260, 540, and 720 models.
Operation and Temperature Control
The dehumidifier control will not operate if the freezer protection thermostat detects a low outdoor temperature (below 35°F). When outdoor temperatures rise near 50°F, the fan will return to normal operation.
Troubleshooting
Fault Description: What may cause the fan to stop?
- The fan may stop if it shuts down due to low outdoor temperature (below 35°F).
- The fan may stop if the power supply is interrupted or not properly connected to the circuit.
- If either of the above cases is the cause, please reset your fan.
Fault Description: What is the reason for sudden noise when the fan has been in normal use?
- Sudden noise may be caused by debris impacting the fan wheel blade.
- Unstable mounting plates may also cause noise. Ensure the unit is securely mounted.
Ensure there is adequate space around the unit and the air outlet for proper airflow.
Product Testing and Shipping
Each NeatyFresh crawlspace ventilator fan is electrically factory-tested prior to shipment. If any damage is found upon receipt, immediately notify the carrier and your reseller and submit a hidden damage claim.
