Getting to Know Your Phone
Handset (See Fig. 1)
Key Descriptions:
- [Up Arrow] Key: In standby: press to access call list. In menu: press to move up. In redial/call/directory list: press to move up the list. During call: increase call volume. During ringing: increase ringer volume.
- Right Key (Clear/Back/Mute/Intercom): In main menu: return to standby screen. In sub-menu: return to previous level. In sub-menu: press and hold to return to standby mode. Editing or redialing: press to delete one character or digit. Editing or redialing: press and hold to delete all characters or digits. During call: to activate/deactivate mute function. In standby: to start intercom with another handset.
- Off/Hang Up Key: During call: to end call and return to standby screen. In menu/edit mode: press to return to previous menu. In standby: press and hold to turn off handset. With handset off: press and hold to turn on handset.
- Flash Key: In standby/redial: press to insert a flash. During call: press to generate a flash signal.
- Redial List Key: In standby, press to access the redial list.
- Down Arrow Key (Redial/Down): In standby: access redial list. In menu mode: move down the list. In directory/redial/call list: press to move down. During call: decrease call volume. During ringing: decrease ringer volume.
- Talk Key: In standby/redial: to make a call. In directory/redial/call list: to call the number on screen. During ringing: press to answer the call.
- Left Key (Menu/OK): In standby: access main menu. In sub-menu: confirm selection. During call: access intercom/directory/redial list/call list.
Screen Icons and Symbols (See Fig. 2)
The screen provides information about your phone's current status.
- [Ringer Off Icon] ?️: Indicates the handset ringer is off. Solid when alarm is active. Flashes when alarm is ringing.
- [Keypad Locked Icon] ?: Indicates the keypad is locked.
- [New Voicemail Icon] ✉️: Indicates a new voicemail message (depends on your phone service provider).
- [Battery Full Icon] ?: Indicates the battery is fully charged.
- [Battery Charging Icon] ?: The full icon flashes when charging.
- [Battery Near Full Icon] ?: Inner section of the icon flashes when the battery is nearing full charge.
- [Battery Low Icon] ?: Indicates the battery needs charging.
- [Battery Critically Low Icon] ?: Flashes when low battery is detected.
- [Scroll Left Icon] ◀️: Indicates more characters or numbers before those shown on screen.
- [Scroll Right Icon] ▶️: Indicates more characters or numbers after those shown on screen.
- [Left Key Function]: Left key function. Gives access to the main menu.
- [New Call Icon] ?: Indicates a new call in the call list.
- [More Options Icon] ☰: Indicates more options available in the list, up or down.
- [Right Key Intercom]: Right key function. To start intercom with another handset.
- [Right Key Back/Cancel]: Right key function. To return to the previous menu level (return) or cancel the current action.
- [Right Key Alarm/Mute]: Right key function. Activates the alarm or activates/deactivates the microphone mute function during a call.
- [In Range Icon] ?: Solid when the handset is in range of the base.
- [Out of Range/Not Registered Icon] ?: Flashes when out of range of the base or if the handset is not registered.
- [Intercom Active Icon] ?️: Solid with an intercom call in progress.
- [Incoming Intercom Icon] ?️: Flashes when an internal call is incoming.
- [Call In Progress Icon] ?: Indicates a call is in progress on this handset.
Base Unit (See Fig. 3)
Locate:
- Press to activate ringing on registered handsets.
- Press and hold to start the registration process.
Installation
Connecting to the Base (See Fig. 4)
Connect the adapter and telephone line to your base station.
Plug the adapter into an electrical outlet and the telephone line cord into the telephone line connection.
CAUTION: Use only the adapter supplied with your system. Using another adapter may cause danger or damage your phone. Ensure the base is installed where the adapter connection is accessible for disconnection if necessary. Never extend or use extension cords on the base adapter.
NOTE: The base unit requires electricity to function, not just to charge the batteries.
Installing and Charging Batteries (See Fig. 5)
Place the two batteries, included in your system, into the battery compartment following the correct polarity.
Place the battery compartment cover and slide it upwards until it clicks into place.
Place the handset on its base and charge for 15 hours before using your phone for the first time.
> The handset will emit a short sound when placed on the base or charger.
Operating Your Phone
Making a Call
Pre-dialing to make a call: Enter the phone number and press [Talk Key] to connect to the line and dial the number. > When entering the number, if you make a mistake, press [Clear/Back Key] to delete digits.
Direct Dialing: Press [Talk Key] to connect to the telephone line and then enter the number.
Calling from the Directory: Press [Left Key], [Up Arrow], [Down Arrow] to access the directory and press [Up Arrow] or [Down Arrow] to select the number. Press [Talk Key] to dial the directory number.
Calling from the Call List: Press [Left Key] to enter the call list and press [Up Arrow] or [Down Arrow] to select a number from the list. Press [Talk Key] to dial the selected number.
Calling from the Redial List: Press [Redial List Key] to access the redial list and press [Up Arrow] or [Down Arrow] to select the desired number from the list. Press [Talk Key] to dial the selected number.
Call Timer (Counter)
Your handset automatically counts the duration of each call. The counter is displayed on screen when answering a call or 15 seconds after dialing. The call time will be displayed up to 5 seconds after the call ends. The time format is shown in hours, minutes, and seconds (HH:MM:SS).
Answering a Call
If the handset is not on the charging base: Press [Talk Key] to answer a call when the phone rings.
Redialing the Last Number
You can redial the last 5 numbers dialed. If you have stored a name with a phone number in the directory, the name will be displayed first. The most recent last dialed number will be at the top of the list.
NOTE: If a name is displayed in the list, press [# Key] to see the number associated with that name.
Press [Up Arrow] or [Down Arrow] to move through the redial list.
Press [Talk Key] to dial the selected number from the list.
NOTE: If there are no numbers in the list, the screen will display "EMPTY".
Locating a Handset
You can locate handsets by pressing the [Locate Key] on the bottom of the base. All registered handsets will emit an alert tone and display "LOCATE" on the screen for 60 seconds. You can stop this process by pressing any key on any handset or the [Locate Key] on the base again.
NOTE: If an incoming call occurs while locating a handset, the phone will ring as an incoming call.
Private Directory
Each handset can store 20 numbers in its directory with names and numbers. Each directory entry can have up to a maximum of 20 digits for numbers and 12 characters for names. You can also select different ringtones for each directory entry. (Note: Different ringtones will only play when receiving a call detected by your caller ID service and when the identified number matches one stored in your directory. The list keeps contacts in alphabetical order.)
Adding a New Entry to the Directory
In standby:
- Press [Left Key] and [Up Arrow] or [Down Arrow] to select "DIRECTORY" and press [OK Key] to enter the directory. Or press [Talk Key] to enter the directory.
- Press [OK Key] to display "ADD" on screen.
- Press [OK Key] and then enter the name.
- Press [OK Key] and then enter the number.
- Press [Up Arrow] or [Down Arrow] to select the desired ringtone for your new contact.
- Press [OK Key] to confirm, and the contact will be stored in your directory.
Searching for a Contact in the Directory
In standby:
- Press [Left Key] and [Up Arrow] or [Down Arrow] to select "DIRECTORY" and press [OK Key] to enter the directory. Or press [Talk Key] to enter the directory.
- Enter the first letter of the name using the alphanumeric keys (e.g., if the name starts with C, press the '2' key three times) and then use [Up Arrow] or [Down Arrow] to move to the desired contact.
Editing a Directory Entry
In standby:
- Press [Left Key] and [Up Arrow] or [Down Arrow] to select "DIRECTORY" and press [OK Key] to enter the directory. Or press [Talk Key] to enter the directory.
- Press [Up Arrow] or [Down Arrow] to select the desired contact in the directory.
- Press [OK Key] and [Up Arrow] or [Down Arrow] to select "EDIT".
- Press [OK Key] to display the current contact.
- Edit the name and press [OK Key].
- Edit the number and press [OK Key].
- Press [Up Arrow] or [Down Arrow] to select the ringtone and press [OK Key] to confirm.
Deleting a Directory Entry
In standby:
- Press [Left Key] and [Up Arrow] or [Down Arrow] to select "DIRECTORY" and press [OK Key] to enter the directory. Or press [Talk Key] to enter the directory.
- Press [Up Arrow] or [Down Arrow] to select the desired contact in the directory.
- Press [OK Key] and [Up Arrow] or [Down Arrow] to select "DELETE".
- Press [OK Key] to confirm, and the contact will be deleted from your list.
Caller ID (Provider)
This feature is available if you subscribe to caller ID service with your telephone service provider. Your phone can store the last 10 received calls with date and time. The number will be displayed on the handset screen when it is ringing. If the number matches any of your directory contacts, your contact's name will be displayed alternating with the number while the handset rings with the associated ringtone. If the call is from someone who blocked their number, "BLOCKED" will be displayed. If the call is from an unavailable number, such as an international call, "OUT OF AREA" will be displayed. If you have missed calls on your system, the handset will display "X NEW CALLS" when in standby. The new call indicator on the handset will remain visible until the list is verified on the handset.
Viewing the Call List
All received calls are stored in the call list with the most recent call at the top of the list. When the list is full, the oldest call is replaced with the new one. Any unreviewed calls will be marked with the [New Call Icon] ? in the center of the bottom line on the screen.
- Press [Left Key] to enter the call list, or press [Left Key] and [Up Arrow] or [Down Arrow] to display "CALL LIST" and then press [OK Key].
- Press [Up Arrow] or [Down Arrow] to select the desired name/number.
- Press [# Key] to view the number if necessary.
- Press [Left Key] and [Up Arrow] or [Down Arrow] to display "DETAILS" and then press [OK Key] to show the call date and time.
- Press [OK Key] to return to the previous screen.
Deleting an Entry from the Call List
Follow steps 1 and 2 from the section "Viewing the Call List".
- Press [Left Key] and [Up Arrow] or [Down Arrow] to display "DELETE".
- Press [OK Key] to confirm.
Deleting the Entire Call List
Follow steps 1 and 2 from the section "Viewing the Call List".
- Press [Left Key] and [Up Arrow] or [Down Arrow] until "DELETE ALL" is displayed and press [OK Key].
- Press [OK Key] to display "CONFIRM?".
- Press [OK Key] to confirm. All entries will be deleted and the screen will display "EMPTY".
Phone Settings
Your phone comes with a selection of settings you can change to personalize your phone as conveniently as possible.
Adjusting the Handset Ringer Volume
Press [Left Key] and [Up Arrow] or [Down Arrow] to select "BASE SETTINGS".
- Press [OK Key] and [Up Arrow] or [Down Arrow] to select "RING VOLUME".
- Press [OK Key] and [Up Arrow] or [Down Arrow] to select the desired ringtone from the five available.
- Press [OK Key] to confirm.
NOTE: The respective ring volume will be heard as you move through the ringtone list.
Adjusting the Base Ringer Volume
Press [Left Key] and [Up Arrow] or [Down Arrow] to select "BASE SETTINGS".
- Press [OK Key] and [Up Arrow] or [Down Arrow] to select "RING VOLUME".
- Press [OK Key] and [Up Arrow] or [Down Arrow] to select the desired ring volume (a total of 6 volume levels including OFF).
- Press [OK Key] to confirm.
NOTE: The respective ring volume will be heard during your selection.
Configuring Your Handset Display
You can choose whether your display shows the assigned name for the handset or the current time when your phone is in standby.
- Press [OK Key] and [Up Arrow] or [Down Arrow] to select "HANDSET CONFIG".
- Press [OK Key] and [Up Arrow] or [Down Arrow] to select "HANDSET DISPLAY".
- Press [OK Key] and [Up Arrow] or [Down Arrow] to select "TIME".
- Press [OK Key] to confirm.
Configuring Date and Time
Adjusting Date Format
- Press [OK Key] and [Up Arrow] or [Down Arrow] to select "HANDSET CONFIG".
- Press [OK Key] and [Up Arrow] or [Down Arrow] to select "DATE & TIME".
- Press [OK Key] and [Up Arrow] or [Down Arrow] to select "DATE FORMAT".
- Press [Up Arrow] or [Down Arrow] to select the desired format for the date (DD-MM-YY or MM-DD-YY).
- Press [OK Key] to confirm.
Adjusting Time Format
- Press [OK Key] and [Up Arrow] or [Down Arrow] to select "HANDSET CONFIG".
- Press [OK Key] and [Up Arrow] or [Down Arrow] to select "DATE & TIME".
- Press [OK Key] and [Up Arrow] or [Down Arrow] to select "TIME FORMAT".
- Press [Up Arrow] or [Down Arrow] to select the desired format for the time (12 HR or 24 HR).
- Press [OK Key] to confirm.
Setting the Time
- Press [OK Key] and [Up Arrow] or [Down Arrow] to select "HANDSET CONFIG".
- Press [OK Key] and [Up Arrow] or [Down Arrow] to select "DATE & TIME".
- Press [OK Key] and [Up Arrow] or [Down Arrow] to select "SET TIME".
- Press [OK Key] for the current time information.
- Press [OK Key] to confirm.
Setting the Date
- Press [OK Key] and [Up Arrow] or [Down Arrow] to select "HANDSET CONFIG".
- Press [OK Key] and [Up Arrow] or [Down Arrow] to select "DATE & TIME".
- Press [OK Key] and [Up Arrow] or [Down Arrow] to select "SET DATE".
- Press [OK Key] for the current date information.
- Press [OK Key] to confirm.
Handset Registration
IMPORTANT: When you purchased your phone, the handset(s) came registered to your base; you will not need to register them. Handset registration is only necessary if you wish to expand your system with additional handsets or if the system becomes deregistered due to external causes. You can register up to a total of five handsets per base if they are available in your country. Each handset will display 1 through 5 on the screen. (Note: Each handset can only be registered to one base.)
Registering a Handset to Your Base:
Press and hold the [Locate Key] on the base for more than five seconds to put the base in registration mode. It will remain in registration mode for 1 minute, giving you that time to complete the following steps.
- Press [Left Key] and [Up Arrow] or [Down Arrow] to select "REGISTER".
- Press [OK Key] and the screen will display "PIN? ------".
- Enter the 4-digit system PIN (factory default is 0000).
- Press [OK Key] to confirm, and the screen will display "WAITING".
- If registration is completed successfully, the display will stop flashing and a confirmation tone will be heard. The handset will automatically be assigned the next available number. This handset number is displayed on the handset screen when it is in standby mode. If registration is not completed, it will continue flashing.

MDX ELECTRONICS, LLC. or its authorized distributor, at its discretion and within a commercially reasonable time, will repair free of charge or replace any product or accessory that does not comply with this warranty. We may use functionally equivalent refurbished/restored/previously owned or new products, accessories, or parts.
What Other Limitations Exist?

Exclusions
- Normal Wear and Tear: Maintenance, repair, and replacement of parts due to normal wear and tear are excluded from coverage.
- Batteries: Only batteries whose total charge capacity is less than 80% of their stated capacity and leaking batteries are covered. Battery lifespan and changes in battery capacity that occur with time or use are excluded from warranty.
- Abuse and Misuse: Defects or damage resulting from: (a) improper or unreasonable operation, storage, misuse or abuse, accident or negligence, or other external cause, such as physical damage (scratches, etc.) on the product surface resulting from misuse; (b) your failure to comply with instructions or operation outside the usage parameters stipulated in the user instructions provided with the Products; (c) contact with liquids, water, rain, extreme moisture or heavy perspiration, sand, dirt, or the like, excessive heat, or food; (d) use of Products for commercial purposes or subjecting the Products to abnormal use or conditions; (e) other acts or omissions not the responsibility or negligence of Motorola or MDX Electronics, LLC. are excluded from coverage.
- Use of Non-Motorola Branded Products: Defects or damage resulting from the use of Products not certified by Motorola or not belonging to this brand, as well as any peripheral equipment, are excluded from warranty.
- Unauthorized Repair or Modification: Defects or damage resulting from repair, testing, adjustment, installation, maintenance, alteration, or modification in any way by any person other than Motorola, MDX Electronics LLC, or their authorized service centers are excluded from warranty.
- Altered Products: Products or Accessories with (a) serial numbers or date labels that have been removed, altered, or defaced; (b) broken seals or showing evidence of tampering; (c) non-matching serial numbers; or (d) casings or parts that do not belong to the Motorola brand or are not suitable are excluded from coverage.
