This document provides comprehensive instructions for the Motorola ML25055 2-Line Cordless Handset Accessory.
1 Equipment Approval Information
Your telephone equipment is approved for connection to the Public Switched Telephone Network and complies with FCC Parts 15 and 68 Rules and Regulations, and the Technical Requirements for Telephone Terminal Equipment published by ACTA.
Notification to the Local Telephone Company
The bottom of the equipment has a label indicating the US number and Ringer Equivalence Number (REN). This information must be provided to your telephone company upon request. The REN helps determine the number of devices you can connect to your line and have them ring. Generally, the sum of RENs should not exceed 5. Contact your local telephone company for specifics.
The plug and jack used must comply with applicable FCC Part 68 rules and ACTA requirements. A compliant telephone cord and modular plug are provided. It is designed for compatible modular jacks.
NOTE:
- This equipment cannot be used on coin service provided by the telephone company.
- Party lines may have state tariffs that restrict the use of your own telephone equipment. Check with your local telephone company.
- Notify the telephone company upon permanent disconnection of your telephone from your line.
- If your home has alarm equipment connected to the telephone line, ensure this product does not disable it. Consult your telephone company or a qualified installer if unsure.
- US Number and REN number are located on the bottom of the Motorola ML25254, ML25255, or the base station the cordless handset is registered to.
Rights of the Telephone Company
If your equipment causes trouble that may harm the telephone network, the telephone company may temporarily discontinue service after notifying you. They must promptly notify you, allow you to correct the situation, and inform you of your right to file a complaint with the Commission.
The telephone company may make changes to its facilities, equipment, operations, or procedures as required by business, provided they are consistent with FCC Rules and Regulations. Adequate written notice will be given for changes affecting your equipment's use or performance.
This product meets applicable Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada technical specifications. The Ringer Equivalence Number (REN) indicates the maximum number of devices allowed on a telephone interface, with the sum of RENs not exceeding five.
Interference Information
This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules and Industry Canada license-exempt RSS standards. Operation is subject to two conditions: (1) it must not cause harmful interference, and (2) it must accept any interference received, including that which may cause undesired operation.
Privacy of communications may not be ensured. This equipment has been tested and complies with Class B digital device limits under Part 15 of FCC Rules, designed for reasonable protection against harmful interference in residential installations.
This equipment generates, uses, and can radiate radio frequency energy. If not installed and used per instructions, it may cause harmful interference to radio communications. However, interference is not guaranteed not to occur.
If interference occurs with radio or television reception (determined by turning the equipment off and on), try correcting it by:

FCC RF Radiation Exposure Statement
This equipment complies with FCC RF radiation exposure limits for an uncontrolled environment. It should be installed and operated with a minimum distance of 20 cm between the radiator and your body. The transmitter must not be co-located or operated with any other antenna or transmitter.
Caution: To comply with Industry Canada's RF exposure guideline, place the base unit at least 20 cm from nearby persons.

This telephone is compliant with the DECT 6.0 standard (1.92GHz to 1.93GHz). Installation is subject to notification and coordination with UTAM (1-800-429-8826). Relocation requires UTAM approval.

2 Introduction
The Motorola multi-line / 2-line phone is a full-featured phone suitable for home or office use. It supports up to two incoming telephone lines and up to 10 extensions with Motorola ML25254 or ML25255 systems. The Motorola ML25055 Cordless Handset expands the system operating in the DECT 6.0 frequency range.
Caution: Always follow basic safety instructions when installing and using telephone equipment. Refer to the IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS.
IMPORTANT: Because cordless phones rely on electricity, have at least one non-cordless phone available in case of a power outage.
3 Important Safety Instructions
Follow basic safety precautions to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and injury:
- Read and understand all instructions.
- Follow all warnings and instructions marked on the product.
- Unplug before cleaning. Use a damp cloth; do not use liquid or aerosol cleaners.
- Do not use the telephone in a bathtub, shower, or pool to avoid electrical shock.
- Ventilation slots are provided for heat protection. Do not block them by placing the product on soft surfaces or in enclosed spaces without proper ventilation.
- Operate only from the indicated power source type. Consult your dealer or local power company if unsure.
- Plug the adaptor into an easily accessible outlet near the equipment.
- Do not place anything on the power cord or allow it to be walked on.
- Do not overload wall outlets or extension cords.
- Never insert objects into product slots, as they may touch dangerous voltage points or cause short circuits. Never spill liquid on the product.
- Do not disassemble the product. Refer servicing to qualified personnel to avoid dangerous voltages and risks.
- Do not expose the product to extreme temperatures (e.g., near radiators, stoves, or in hot cars). Do not place it on other electronic products like computer monitors or amplifiers.
- Do not place lighted candles, cigarettes, cigars, etc., on the telephone.
- Never touch uninsulated telephone wires or terminals unless the line is disconnected at the network interface.
- Never install or modify telephone wiring during a lightning storm.
- Never install telephone jacks in wet locations unless specifically designed for them.
- Use caution when installing or modifying telephone lines to prevent electrical shock and/or fire.
- Unplug the product and refer servicing to qualified personnel if:
- The power cord or plug is damaged or frayed.
- The product has been exposed to rain or water.
- The product does not operate normally.
- The product's cabinet is damaged.
- The product exhibits a distinct change in performance.
- Avoid using a telephone (other than cordless) during an electrical storm due to the risk of lightning shock.
- Do not use the telephone to report a gas leak in the vicinity.
- Do not place the product on an unstable cart, stand, or table.
- Use only manufacturer-specified attachments/accessories.
- Unplug during lightning storms or when unused for long periods.

Battery Safety Instructions
If your product uses batteries, observe these precautions:
- Use only the specified type and size battery(ies).
- Do not use if the battery door is removed or missing.
- Replace batteries that appear swollen or have damaged wiring.
- Do not dispose of batteries in fire; they may explode. Check local codes for disposal.
- Do not open or mutilate batteries. Released electrolyte is corrosive and toxic if swallowed.
- Handle batteries carefully to avoid shorting them with conductive materials (rings, bracelets, keys), which can cause overheating and burns.
- Do not attempt to recharge non-rechargeable batteries; they may leak or explode.
- Do not attempt to rejuvenate batteries by heating them.
- When replacing batteries, replace all at once. Mixing fresh and discharged batteries can increase internal cell pressure and cause rupture.
- Observe proper polarity when inserting batteries. Reverse insertion may cause leakage or explosion.
- Do not twist or pinch wires, or allow them to be pinched in the battery door.
- If storing for over 30 days, remove batteries to prevent leakage and damage.
- Discard "dead" batteries promptly, as they are more likely to leak.
- Do not store the product or batteries in high-temperature areas. Protect from condensation after cold storage.
- If using rechargeable batteries, charge only per instructions.
- Keep batteries out of reach of children.

6 Connection and Setup
6.1 Important Installation Information
- Never install telephone wiring during a lightning storm ⚡.
- Never install telephone jacks in wet locations unless specifically designed for them ?.
- Never touch uninsulated telephone wires or terminals unless the line is disconnected from the network.
- Use caution when installing or modifying telephone lines.
- Temporarily disconnect any other equipment connected to the telephone.
6.2 Important Installation Guidelines
- Install the telephone near both a telephone jack and an electrical power outlet ?.
- Avoid sources of noise (e.g., windows, busy streets) and electrical noise (e.g., motors, microwaves, fluorescent lighting).
- Avoid heat sources (e.g., heating ducts, radiators, direct sunlight).
- Avoid areas of excessive moisture or extremely low temperatures ?❄️.
- Avoid dusty locations.
- Avoid placing near other cordless telephones or personal computers.
CAUTION: Always disconnect all phone cords from the base unit before battery installation or replacement.
NOTE: Some cordless telephones operate at frequencies that may cause or receive interference with nearby TVs, microwaves, and VCRs. To minimize interference, do not place the base near or on top of these appliances. If interference continues, move the cordless telephone farther away.
Certain other communications devices may use the 1.9 GHz frequency and could interfere. Refer to their manuals for proper channel settings.
6.3 Installing the Phone
6.3.1 Installing the Handset Battery ?
Connect the handset battery before use:
- Locate the battery, packaged separately.
- Find the battery compartment on the back of the handset.
- Plug the battery pack cord into the jack inside the compartment, pressing firmly.
- Insert the battery pack. The connector is keyed for correct orientation.
- Close the battery compartment by aligning the back cover slightly higher than the handset and sliding it down.
- Place the handset in the charging cradle. The charge indicator will illuminate.
Allow the phone to charge for 14 hours before first use for optimal battery performance.
Caution: Use only the approved Nickel-metal Hydride (Ni-MH) battery pack (2.4V, 550mAh rechargeable batteries) supplied to reduce the risk of fire or personal injury.
6.3.2 Changing / Charging the Handset Battery ?
- Plug the power supply cord into the charging cradle and an electrical outlet.
- Ensure the handset is OFF (not in TALK mode) before replacing the battery.
- Remove the battery compartment door.
- Disconnect the battery pack connector and remove the battery pack.
- Insert the new battery pack and connect its connector.
- Replace the battery compartment door.
- Place the handset in the charging cradle; the charge indicator will illuminate.
Allow the phone to charge for 14 hours before first use.
Caution: Use only the supplied charger power adaptor to reduce the risk of personal injury, fire, or damage. The adaptor is intended for vertical or floor mount positions.
6.3.3 Wall Mounting
The charging cradle has wall mount holes on the back. No extra wall mount pedestal is needed. Slip the holes over wall plate posts (not included) and slide the cradle down into place. Use ONLY UL approved wall plates.
WARNING: Use a wall plate that can sustain at least 5kg and ensure it has appropriate and rigid mounting.
7 Programming the Phone
7.1 Standby Screen
The handset displays the handset name/number, date, time, new calls count, battery status ?, and three softkeys. Softkey labels change based on the unit's status.
7.2 Programming Functions
The system uses a menu structure for features. You can program:
- PHONE SETTINGS
- DISPLAY SETTINGS
- SOUND SETTINGS
- ANSWERING SYSTEM
- RESTORE SETTINGS
NOTE: Press
to exit a sub-menu, or to return to the standby screen. The handset will automatically exit programming after 30 seconds of inactivity.7.3 Phone Settings
Access the main menu by pressing

7.3.1 Auto Answer
When ON, picking up the handset from the cradle answers an incoming call without pressing a softkey.
To set: Navigate to AUTO ANSWER, select ON or OFF, and press
✔️ to save.Default setting is OFF.
7.3.2 Auto ANS Intercom
When ON, the handset automatically answers intercom calls.
To set: Navigate to AUTO ANS INTERCOM, select ON or OFF, and press
✔️ to save.Default setting is OFF.
7.3.3 Registration
A cordless handset must be registered to the base to operate. Keep the handset near the base during registration. Up to 10 handsets can be registered to Motorola ML25254 or ML25255 systems.
If the handset is not registered, it will display "PRESS 'REG' TO INITIATE REGISTRATION". Press the
softkey. If this message doesn't appear, the REGISTER option is in the PHONE SETTINGS - REGISTRATION menu.7.3.3.1 Register
- From PHONE SETTINGS, navigate to REGISTRATION and press ✔️.
- Navigate to REGISTER and press ✔️.
- The handset will display "PRESS BASE UNIT PAGE BUTTON UNTIL BEEP".
- Press and hold the button on the base for about 3 seconds.
- The base will display "REGISTERING...".
Successful registration results in beeps and "REGISTRATION COMPLETE!". If unsuccessful, move phones closer and try again.
7.3.3.2 Remove Handset
De-registration cancels registration. Keep the handset near the base. It's not recommended unless necessary, as the handset features cannot be used until re-registered.
- From PHONE SETTINGS, navigate to REGISTRATION and press ✔️.
- Navigate to REMOVE HANDSET and press ✔️.
- The handset will display "REMOVE HANDSET?".
- Press ✅ to confirm. The handset will display "PRESS 'REG' TO INITIATE REGISTRATION".
7.3.4 2nd Call Alert
When ON, an alert tone sounds for an incoming call from another line while you are on a call.
To set: Navigate to 2ND CALL ALERT, select ON or OFF, and press
✔️ to save.Default setting is ON.
7.3.5 Handset Name
To set a name (up to 11 characters) for the handset:
- From PHONE SETTINGS, navigate to HANDSET NAME and press ✔️.
- The last-set name appears. Use the dial pad to enter the new name. (e.g., to enter 'L', press '5' three times).
- Use ?️ or ? to move the cursor, or ?️ to delete characters.
- Press ✅ when finished.
7.4 Display Settings
From the main menu, navigate to DISPLAY SETTINGS and press

7.4.1 Language
To set the language:
- Navigate to LANGUAGE and press ✔️.
- Scroll through ENGLISH, FRANCAIS, or ESPAÑOL using / ?⬆️/⬇️.
- Press ✔️ to save.
7.4.2 Contrast
There are 5 levels of display contrast.
- Navigate to CONTRAST and press ✔️.
- Use / ?⬆️/⬇️ to adjust the contrast.
- Press ✔️ to save.
7.5 Sound Settings
From the main menu, navigate to SOUND SETTINGS and press
✔️. You can program:- RING TONE
- RING VOL
- KEY TONES
7.5.1 Ring Tone
There are 8 ring tones. The ring tone can be set individually for each line.
- Navigate to RING TONE and press ✔️.
- Scroll to LINE 1 or LINE 2 and press ✔️.
- Scroll to your desired tone using / ?⬆️/⬇️.
- Press ✔️ to save.
7.5.2 Ring Volume
There are 5 volume levels and an OFF option. The ring volume can be set individually for each line.
- Navigate to RING VOL and press ✔️.
- Scroll to LINE 1 or LINE 2 and press ✔️.
- Adjust the ring volume using / ?⬆️/⬇️.
- Press ✔️ to save.
7.5.3 Key Tones
To enable or disable key tones:
- Navigate to KEY TONES and press ✔️.
- Scroll to ON or OFF using / ?⬆️/⬇️.
- Press ✔️ to save.
7.6 Restore Settings
This feature resets menu settings to their original defaults.
- From the main menu, navigate to RESTORE SETTINGS and press ✔️.
- The handset will display "LOAD TO DEFAULT?".
- Press ✅ to reset. The phone will reboot with default settings. Press ❌ to cancel.
8 Basic Operation
8.1 Making Calls with the Cordless Handset ?
- Press ?. The phone selects the first available line (Line 1 if both are available). Alternatively, press or softkey.
- Wait for a dial tone, then dial the phone number.
- Press ? when finished.
8.2 Making Calls with the Speakerphone ?
- Press ?. The phone selects the first available line. Alternatively, press or softkey.
- Wait for a dial tone, then dial the phone number.
- Press ? when finished.
8.3 Making Calls with a Wired Headset ?
- Plug the headset into the Headset Jack on the side of the handset.
- Adjust the headset for comfort. Position the microphone 2-3 inches from your mouth.
- Press ? to select a line.
- Wait for a dial tone, then dial the phone number.
- Press ? when finished.
NOTE: If the headset is not connected, pressing
? enters receiver mode. Motorola does not guarantee compatibility with third-party headsets.8.4 Pre-dialing
- With the phone idle, manually enter the telephone number (up to 32 digits). An error tone sounds if the number is too long.
- Press ?, ?, or a softkey to dial the number.
8.5 Answering Calls
- Press ? for receiver mode, ? for speakerphone mode, or the corresponding softkey for receiver mode.
- Press ? when finished.
NOTE: If AUTO ANSWER is ON, picking up the handset from the charging cradle answers the call automatically.
8.6 Switching Between Speakerphone, Handset, and Headset Mode
- Press ? to switch to speakerphone mode.
- If a headset is plugged in, press ? to switch to headset mode.
- If no headset is plugged in, pressing ? switches to handset receiver mode.
8.7 Mute ?
To have a private conversation where the other party cannot hear you:
- During a call, press ?/?️ to activate Mute.
- Press ?/?️ again to deactivate.
8.8 Auto Standby
Placing the handset in the charging cradle while off-hook (during a call) automatically disconnects the call.
8.9 Do Not Disturb ?
This feature disables the ringer for a set period. Incoming calls and intercom calls will light status indicators but not ring.
- In idle mode, press ?. The last setting is displayed.
- Use / ?⬆️/⬇️ to select a duration (15 MIN to 24 HOURS).
- Press ✔️ to save. A DND timer will show remaining time.
- To turn off DND, press ?.
8.10 Line Privacy
This feature prevents other phones on the system from accessing the line used by your active call.
To turn on Line Privacy: While on a call, press
?. The handset will display "PRIVACY".8.11 Flash ⚡
If you subscribe to Call Waiting Caller ID, a beep and Caller ID information for the waiting call will appear when you receive a second call during a conversation.
- To connect to the waiting call, press ☰/⚡. The first call is put on hold.
- To switch between calls, press ☰/⚡ again.
8.12 Inserting a Pause in the Dialing Sequence
Press the
key twice to insert a pause (P) when waiting for a dial tone (e.g., after dialing '9' for an outside line). Each pause counts as one digit.8.13 Redial ?
- Press ? or ? to select a line.
- Press ?. The last 3 dialed numbers are shown.
- Use / ?⬆️/⬇️ to scroll to the desired number.
- Press softkey to dial.
NOTE: Numbers longer than 32 digits cannot be saved or redialed.
8.13.1 Viewing a Redial Record
Your phone records up to three previously dialed numbers.
- In idle mode, press ?.
- Use / ?⬆️/⬇️ to scroll to the desired number.
- Press ? or ? to dial the number.
8.13.2 Adding a Redial Record in the Directory
- In idle mode, press ?.
- Scroll to the desired redial number.
- Press ✅. Enter a name using the dial pad (use ?️ or ? to move cursor, ?️ to delete).
- Press ✅. Enter the number if needed.
- Press ✅. Select a VIP TONE MELODY using / ?⬆️/⬇️ and press ✔️.
If an incoming call number matches this record, the VIP Tone Melody will ring.
8.14 Transferring a Call to Another Extension
- During a call, press ➡️. The current call is put on hold.
- Scroll to the desired handset or base and press ✔️.
- This initiates an intercom call. Wait for the selected unit to answer, have a conversation, then hang up to finish the transfer, or press ? for a 3-way conference.
- If the selected unit rejects or doesn't answer within 30 seconds, the call transfers back.
8.15 Receiving a Transferred Call from Another Extension
If your unit receives a transfer call, "INTERCOM CALL FROM BASE/HANDSET X" will display.
- Press ? or ? to answer.
- If you press softkey or don't answer within 30 seconds, the call transfers back to the original unit.
8.16 Ringer On/Off and Ringer Volume
- In idle mode, use / ?⬆️/⬇️ to access ring volume settings.
- Scroll to LINE 1 or LINE 2 and press ✔️.
- Adjust the ring volume using / ?⬆️/⬇️.
- Press ✔️ to save.
If ring volume is set to Off, the handset displays "L1/L2 RINGER OFF".
8.17 Speakerphone, Handset, and Headset Volume
During a call, press
/ ?⬆️/⬇️ to adjust call volume to a comfortable level. The setting is stored after the last button press.8.18 Hold ⏸️
- During a call, press ⏸️ to put the line on hold. The handset displays "LINE 1/LINE 2 ON HOLD", and the line icon flashes.
- An alert tone is emitted to both parties.
- Press the corresponding softkey to release hold and return to the call.
8.19 Conference Calls
This system supports 3-way and 4-way conference calls.
8.19.1 Joining a call in progress
While a call is in progress, another user can join by pressing the corresponding
softkey. Both parties on the original call will hear a tone.If Line Privacy is ON for the original call, it cannot be joined.
8.19.2 3-way conference call by an intercom call
- While on a call, press ⏸️.
- Press ⏸️ again.
- Scroll to the desired handset or base and press ✔️.
- The selected unit will page. The user answers by pressing ? or ?.
- The originating caller presses ? to establish a 3-way conference.
8.19.3 3-way conference call with two lines
- While on a call on Line 1, press ⏸️ to put it on hold.
- Press softkey for a dial tone. Dial the phone number and talk to the other person.
- Press ? to establish a 3-way conference between the two lines.
8.19.4 4-way conference call (Line 1 + Line 2 + 2 extensions)
- While on a call with both Line 1 and Line 2 on hold, press ⏸️ and select the desired handset or base to intercom.
- The selected unit will page; the user answers by pressing ? or ?.
- Press ? to establish a conference.
- You will be prompted to select Line 1, Line 2, or Both. Selecting BOTH establishes a 4-way conference.
8.20 Intercom Calls
8.20.1 Making an Intercom Call
- Press ⏸️ to bring up the list of registered handsets and base.
- Scroll to the desired unit and press ✔️.
- To cancel, press softkey.
NOTE: If the receiving unit does not answer within 30 seconds, the intercom call is cancelled, and "UNAVAILABLE" is displayed.
8.20.2 Answering an Intercom Call
When receiving an intercom call, the handset displays the Phone ID of the calling handset. Answer by pressing
? or ?. Press softkey if you do not want to answer.9 Caller ID (CID) ?
To use Caller ID features, subscribe to Name/Number Caller ID or Caller ID with Call Waiting service. To see who is calling while on the phone, subscribe to Caller ID with Call Waiting.
When an incoming call with CID information arrives, it can be shown on the handset. The unit displays information transmitted by your local phone company, which may include the phone number, date, and time, or name, phone number, date, and time.
If two calls arrive simultaneously, caller information for each line is displayed separately.
The unit can store up to 99 records. New calls replace the oldest when memory is full.
9.1 Viewing a CID Record
- In idle mode, press ?.
- Scroll through call records using / ?⬆️/⬇️.
NOTE: "NEW" appears for unreviewed calls. The record number, FORMAT, and STORE softkeys are shown. The line number is also displayed.
9.2 Adding a CID Record in the Directory
To format a CID number (7, 10, or 11 digits) and save it to the Directory, press
softkey before pressing softkey. Refer to section 9.5 for formatting details.- While viewing a CID record, press softkey.
- Enter a name using the dial pad. Use ?️ or ? to move the cursor, or ?️ to delete characters. The name field cannot be empty.
- Press ✅. Enter the number if needed.
- Press ✅. Select a VIP TONE MELODY using / ?⬆️/⬇️ and press ✔️.

10 Phonebook Directory ?️
You can store up to 99 records in the Directory, each with up to 16 characters for the name and 32 digits for the number. Records are stored in alphabetic ascending order.
10.1 Adding a New Directory Record
- In idle mode, press ?️.
- Press softkey. Enter a name using the dial pad. Use ?️ or ? to move cursor, ?️ to delete characters. The name field cannot be empty.
- Press ✅. Enter the telephone number. Press twice to insert a pause if needed.
- Press ✅. Select a VIP TONE MELODY using / ?⬆️/⬇️ and press ✔️.
If "MEMORY FULL" displays, delete records before adding new ones.
10.2 Viewing a Directory Record
- In idle mode, press ?️.
- Scroll through records using / ?⬆️/⬇️, or press number keys to jump to names starting with that letter.
- Press softkey, navigate to VIEW, and press ✔️.
10.3 Editing a Directory Record
- In idle mode, press ?️.
- Scroll to the record to edit.
- Press softkey, navigate to EDIT ENTRY, and press ✔️. Edit content as per section 10.1.

You can copy records between the base and handset extensions.
- When viewing a record, press softkey.
- Select "COPY CURRENT RECORD" or "ENTIRE DIRECTORY".
- Scroll to the desired extension and press ✔️.
The number of copied records will be displayed, and the receiving unit will show "SAVED".
10.5 Deleting a Directory Record

11 Answering System Operation
11.1 Memo Recording
From the ANSWERING SYSTEM menu:
- Navigate to MEMO RECORDING and press ?.
- Select MAILBOX 1 or MAILBOX 2 and press ?.
- Record your memo after the beep. Press ✅ when complete.
Your memo is stored with other messages. To hear it again, play your messages.
11.2 Outgoing Message (OGA) Playback
From the ANSWERING SYSTEM menu:
- Navigate to OGA PLAYBACK and press ?.
- Select LINE 1 or LINE 2 and press ?.
- Scroll to the OGA record you want to play and press ?.
If there is no recording, "EMPTY" will display.
11.3 Outgoing Message (OGA) Record
From the ANSWERING SYSTEM menu:
- Navigate to OGA RECORD and press ?.
- Select LINE 1 or LINE 2 and press ?.
- Scroll to the OGA type (PERSONAL, ANNOUNCE ONLY, WORK HOURS, AFTER HOURS) and press ?.
- Record your greeting after the beep. Press ✅ to end.
The greeting plays back and saves automatically. Re-record if unsatisfied.
11.4 Playing Messages/Memo
- In idle mode, press ▶️ softkey.
- The handset displays message status for each line.
- Scroll to LINE 1 or LINE 2 and press ✔️ to play messages for that line.
NOTE: If new messages exist, only new ones play. Otherwise, all messages play. During playback, CID information (Date/Time, Name, Number) or "MEMO" and Date/Time is displayed. Press
? to skip to the next message, ?️ to replay the current message, or double-press ?️ to play the previous message.If there are no messages, it announces, "You have no messages".
11.5 Erasing Messages
11.5.1 To erase a message while it is playing
- Play the message to erase.
- Press ?/?️.
- The handset displays "DELETE?".
- Press ? to delete. The next message plays.
11.5.2 To erase all previously played messages in a mailbox
- Play a message.
- Press and hold ?/?️ for 2 seconds. The handset displays "DELETE ALL MESSAGES IN LINE X MAILBOX?".
- Press ? to delete all old messages.
12 Display Messages
The following messages indicate phone status, Caller ID information, or assist with setup and use:
- DELETE ALL?: Prompt to erase all records.
- DELETE?: Prompt to erase the current record.
- ENTER NAME: Prompt to enter a name.
- ENTER NUMBER: Prompt to enter a telephone number.
- NEW CALLS: Indicates unreviewed calls.
- HANDSET NAME: Prompt to enter a user name for the handset.
- UNAVAILABLE: Function cannot work or continue; system is busy or performing a higher priority function.
- NO LINE: Telephone line is not connected.
- LINE IN USE: Telephone line is in use.
- EMPTY: No CID records in memory.
- OUT OF RANGE: Handset is too far from the base and searching for it.
- BLOCKED NUM: Caller's number is blocked from transmission.
- UNKNOWN: Incoming call is from an area not serviced by CID or CID information was not sent.

14 Troubleshooting
No dial tone
- Check/repeat installation steps. Ensure base power cord is connected to a working outlet.
- Ensure telephone line cords are not damaged and are connected properly.
- Disconnect the base from the wall jack and connect another phone. If it also has no dial tone, the problem is likely wiring or local service.
- The handset may be out of range. Move closer to the base.
- Ensure the battery is properly charged (for 14 hours).
Dial tone is ok, but can’t dial out
- Ensure the base station is set to the correct dial mode.
Phone does not ring
- Ensure the phone is properly registered with the base.
- Ensure the ringer is turned ON.
- Ensure the Do Not Disturb feature is not activated.
- The handset may be out of range. Move closer to the base.
- You may have too many extension phones on your line. Try unplugging some.
- Refer to "No dial tone" solutions.
You cannot be heard by the other party
- Ensure the Mute feature is not turned on.
- Ensure the headset cord is inserted properly and securely.
Incoming voice too low or none at all
- Check call volume setting.
You experience static, noise, or fading in and out
- The handset may be out of range. Move closer to the base.
- Ensure the base station is not plugged into an outlet with another appliance. Relocate the base if necessary.
- Ensure the battery is properly charged (for 14 hours).
Directory dialing doesn't work
- Did you program the memory location keys correctly?
- Ensure the phone number is formatted properly.
No Caller ID
- You must subscribe to the standard Name/Number Caller ID service from your local telephone company.
No Display
- Ensure the unit is connected to a non-switched electrical outlet. Disconnect and reconnect the power adaptor.
- Ensure the battery is properly charged (for 14 hours).
Date/Time setting is restored to default setting
This may be caused by a power failure. Set Date/Time at the base station again.
Intercom does not function correctly
- Ensure the phone is properly registered with the base.
- The handset may be out of range. Move closer to the base.
Unit locks up and no communication between the base and cordless handset
- Unplug the power adaptor from the outlet and the base. Remove the handset battery. Wait 30 seconds, then plug the power adaptor back in and reconnect the battery. Charge for 14 hours.
"OUT OF RANGE" shows in the handset display
- Move the handset closer to the base.
- Ensure the base power cord is connected to a working electrical outlet.
Battery ? Issues
If you experience short talk time, poor sound quality, or limited range, even after recharging, you may need to replace the battery pack.
Causes of poor reception
- Aluminum siding, foil backing on insulation, heating ducts, metal construction.
- Proximity to appliances like microwaves, stoves, computers.
- Atmospheric conditions (e.g., storms).
- Base installed in basement or lower floor.
- Base plugged into AC outlet with other electronic devices.
- Baby monitor using the same frequency.
- Low handset battery ?.
- Hook switch not popping up when handset is lifted.
- Handset out of range of the base.
- Base station batteries (5 AAA) need replacing or are improperly installed.

Cleaning
- Clean with a damp (not wet) cloth or an anti-static wipe.
- Never use household polish or a dry cloth (may cause static shock).
Environmental
- Do not expose to direct sunlight.
- The phone may become warm during charging or prolonged use; this is normal. Avoid placing on antique/veneered wood.
- Do not place on carpets or fibrous surfaces, or in locations preventing air flow.
- Do not submerge any part in water or use in damp/humid conditions.
- Do not expose to fire, explosives, or other hazardous conditions.
- Unplug during electrical storms to prevent damage.

What Does this Warranty Cover?
MZGW warrants the Product or Accessory to be free from defects in materials and workmanship under normal consumer usage for the period outlined below. This Limited Warranty is exclusive and non-transferable.
Who is covered?
This warranty extends only to the first consumer purchaser and is not transferable.
What will MZGW do?
MZGW will, at its option, repair or replace non-conforming Products or Accessories at no charge within a commercially reasonable time. Reconditioned/refurbished/pre-owned or new Products, Accessories, or parts may be used.
What Other Limitations Are There?
Implied warranties (merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose) are limited to the duration of this warranty. Repair or replacement is the exclusive remedy.
