  • Maintain minimum clearance between the rear of the cabinet and the kitchen wall, and between the countertop surface and the upper drawer area.
  • If the minimum rear cabinet clearance of 13/16" (20 mm) is not met, create an opening on the underside.
  • If the cabinet interior width is no more than 29 1/2" (750 mm), make cutouts in the side panels.
  • An opening is required at the top rear of the cabinet.
  • For island units or other installations not described, ensure sufficient ventilation.

Installation Procedure

Follow these instructions to install the cooktop into the countertop.

CAUTION: Sharp edges. Use protective gloves.

CAUTION: The appliance is heavy. Two people are recommended for installation.

  • Installing the Heat Shield: The heat shield must be installed properly for safety, preventing component overheating from hot air recirculation. It is the same width as the cooktop.
    • CAUTION: Sharp edges. Use protective gloves.
    • Requirement: Cooktop unpacked. For shipping, the heat shield is screwed to the bottom; unscrew it. The heat shield should rotate freely.
  • Securing the Cooktop to the Countertop: The cooktop must be secured from below using provided hold-down brackets to prevent slipping.
    • 1. Place the cooktop face down on a soft surface.
    • 2. Attach hold-down brackets to the underside with short screws; do not tighten yet.
    • 3. Rotate brackets to allow placement in the cutout.
    • 4. CAUTION: Do not let the cooktop drop. Ensure it is supported along the edges when placing. Turn the cooktop over and carefully place it into the cutout.
    • 5. Insert clamping screws into the brackets and secure the cooktop to the countertop. Protect delicate countertops with a wooden disk.
    • 6. Tighten the hold-down bracket screws on the underside.
