Important Safety Instructions

  7. Do not block any ventilation openings. Install in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.
  8. Do not install near any heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves, or other apparatus (including amplifiers) that produce heat.
  9. Do not defeat the safety purpose of the polarized or grounding-type plug. A polarized plug has two blades with one wider than the other. A grounding type plug has two blades and a third grounding prong. The wide blade or the third prong are provided for your safety. If the provided plug does not fit into your outlet, consult an electrician for replacement of the obsolete outlet.
  10. Protect the power cord from being walked on or pinched particularly at plugs, convenience receptacles, and the point where they exit from the apparatus.
  11. Only use attachments/accessories specified by the manufacturer.
  12. Use only with the cart, stand, tripod, bracket, or table specified by the manufacturer, or sold with the apparatus. When a cart is used, use caution when moving the cart/apparatus combination to avoid injury from tip-over.
  13. Unplug this apparatus during lightning storms or when unused for long periods of time.
  14. Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel. Servicing is required when the apparatus has been damaged in any way, such as power-supply cord or plug is damaged, liquid has been spilled or objects have fallen into the apparatus, the apparatus has been exposed to rain or moisture, does not operate normally, or has been dropped.
  15. Ventilation: Slots and openings in the cabinet are provided for ventilation and to ensure reliable operation of the product and to protect it from overheating, and these openings must not be blocked or covered. The openings should never be blocked by placing the product on a bed, sofa, rug, or other similar surface. This product should not be placed in a built-in installation such as a bookcase or rack unless proper ventilation is provided or the manufacturer's instructions have been adhered to.
  16. The power plug is used as the disconnect device and should remain readily accessible during the device's intended use. To completely disconnect the device from power, you should disconnect the power plug from the AC power outlet.
  17. The battery should not be exposed to excessive heat, such as direct sunlight, fire, or the like.
  18. Cautions and other markings are located at the bottom of the apparatus.
  19. The marking information is located at the bottom of apparatus.
  20. No naked flame sources, such as lighted candles, should be placed on the apparatus.

Setting Up Your CD Player

Connecting AC Power

Note: Batteries are not needed when connecting to AC power.

  1. Connect the AC power cord (included) to the AC input socket on the CD player.
  2. Plug the cord into a standard AC wall outlet.

Installing Batteries

  1. Insert eight C alkaline batteries (not included) into the battery compartment as indicated on the diagram in the compartment.
  2. Securely close the battery compartment cover.

Using the FM/AM Radio

  1. Press SOURCE repeatedly to select the FM/AM function. "FM/AM" appears in the upper-right of the LCD screen.
  2. Find the station you want to listen to:
    • Press [Rewind button] or [Fast-forward button] repeatedly to tune to a station manually.
    • Press [Previous track button] or [Next track button] to select saved (preset) stations.

Note: To save the current station to memory: Press PROG/MEM, then press [Previous track button] or [Next track button] to select a preset number you want to save, and then press PROG/MEM again to complete the process. If you press PROG/MEM after three seconds without pressing PROG/MEM again, station storage mode is cancelled.

Using the CD Player

The CD player can play standard audio CDs and audio CDs created on a computer's CD-R/CD-RW drive.

  1. Push SOURCE to select CD function. "CD" appears on the LCD screen.
  2. Lift the CD door and insert a CD with the label facing up. Mount the CD on the spindle and push down to lock it in place.
  3. Close the CD door. After a few seconds, the display shows the total number of tracks on the CD. If the disc is not correctly inserted or is defective, the display shows [Error symbol].

Playback begins automatically.

Controlling CD Playback

Listening to an External Audio Source

  1. Connect the external audio device to the AUX IN jack on the back panel of your CD player using a 3.5 mm cable (not included).
  2. Press SOURCE to select the AUX function. "AUX" appears in the upper-right of the LCD screen.
  3. Start playing music from your external audio device. Audio plays through your CD player's speakers.
  4. Use your external audio source to control playback.

Note: Make sure your audio device is not muted and the volume is turned up to an adequate level.
