Jump Starter 800A Features

  • A. LED Battery Charge Bar: Indicates the current battery charge level.
  • B. Power/Flashlight Button: Controls power and the LED flashlight.
  • C. Jump Start Connector: Port for connecting the jump start cables.
  • D. LED Flashlight: Built-in flashlight with multiple modes.
  • E. USB-C Fast Charge Input/Output: For charging the jump starter or outputting power to devices.
  • F. USB-A Fast Charge Output: For outputting power to devices.
  • G. Jump Start Cable: Cables with clamps for connecting to a vehicle battery.
  • H. USB Cable: Cable for charging the jump starter or other devices (e.g., USB-C to USB-A).

Jump Starting Your Vehicle: Direct-to-Battery

  1. Connect the jump start cable clamps to the vehicle's battery terminals. Ensure the Red clamp connects to the Positive (+) terminal and the Black clamp connects to the Negative (-) terminal.
  2. Connect the other end of the jump start cables to the Jump Starter 800A's jump start connector.
  3. Wait for the Green LED light to appear on the jump start cable, indicating a proper connection. Then, start your vehicle's engine.
  4. Once the vehicle has started, disconnect the jump start cable from the Jump Starter 800A first, and then disconnect the clamps from the vehicle's battery terminals.

Charging Your Devices

To charge a 5V USB device, connect the device's cable to either the Jump Starter 800A's USB-A or USB-C Output ports, depending on the device type. Press the power button to wake the Jump Starter and begin charging.

The LED battery charge bar will illuminate to indicate that a device is being charged. The charge bar will turn off once the device is fully charged.

LED Flashlight Operation:

  • ON/OFF: Press and hold the Power/Flashlight button for 2 seconds to turn the LED flashlight on. Press the button again (if on for more than 2 seconds) to turn it off.
  • Strobe and SOS Modes:
    1. Press and hold the Power/Flashlight button for 2 seconds to turn on the LED flashlight.
    2. Quickly press the Power/Flashlight button within 2 seconds of turning it on to activate Strobe mode.
    3. Quickly press the Power/Flashlight button again within 2 seconds of activating Strobe mode to switch to SOS mode.
    4. Press the Power/Flashlight button again to turn off the flashlight.

Re-Charging Your Jump Starter 800A

The Jump Starter 800A is recharged via its USB-C input/output port using the included charging cable or any compatible USB-C charging cable.

During charging, the LED battery charge bar will indicate the current charge level. The last lit section will blink while charging. As it charges, more bars will illuminate solid until all are lit. The LED battery charge bar turns off automatically when fully charged.

For optimal battery performance, recharge the Jump Starter 800A fully every 12 months or as needed based on usage.

Charging Options:

  • Option A: Connect to a laptop via USB-C.
  • Option B: Connect to a car's USB port (if available and compatible with USB-C charging).
  • Option C: Connect to a wall adapter (AC adapter not included) via USB-C.

Important Safety Instructions

Precautions when working with the Jump Starter 800A:

  • ⚠️ WARNING: Keep the unit clear of fire and water.
  • ⚠️ WARNING: Shock Hazard. Keep away from children. Do not insert fingers or foreign objects into ports. Do not submerge in water, expose to rain, snow, condensation, or spray for long periods. Do not open the unit; there are no user-replaceable parts. Do not use if damaged or modified.
  • ⚠️ WARNING: Explosion Hazard. Do not use near flammable fumes or gases (e.g., boat bilge, propane tanks) or in enclosures with lead-acid batteries.
  • ⚠️ WARNING: Fire Hazard. Do not crush or puncture.
  • ⚠️ Caution: Operating temperature. Do not expose to temperatures over +113° F (+45° C) or under -14° F (-10° C). High or low temperatures may reduce battery capacity and life. Exposure to fire or temperatures over +265° F (+130° C) may cause explosion. Exercise care in wet conditions. Store indoors in extreme cold.
  • Under abusive conditions, battery liquid may eject; avoid contact. Ejected liquid can cause irritation or burns. If contact occurs, flush with water; seek medical help for eye contact.
  • The Jump Starter 800A contains a rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery. Charge in a well-ventilated area. Proper charging increases battery life. Dispose of the unit and battery properly when it no longer holds a charge. For battery recycling information, call 800-822-8837.
  • CAUTION: This device is not intended for use in a commercial repair facility.

Precautions when working with vehicle batteries:

  • ⚠️ WARNING: Explosion and fire hazard.
  • Follow all instructions from the battery and equipment manufacturer.
  • Ensure the area around the battery is well-ventilated.
  • Never smoke or allow sparks/flames near the engine or batteries.
  • Be careful not to drop metal objects on the battery or allow tools to touch positive and negative terminals simultaneously.
  • Remove personal metal items (rings, watches, etc.) when working with batteries, as they can cause severe burns due to short-circuit current.
  • When removing a battery, always disconnect the negative terminal first. Ensure all accessories are off to prevent sparks.
  • Have someone nearby for assistance.
  • Keep fresh water, soap, and baking soda on hand for battery acid contact (baking soda neutralizes acid).

Note: In extreme cold weather, store indoors for best results.

Note: When charging a device, the displayed charge level may be lower than actual due to rapid charging. Disconnect the device and press the power button to confirm the actual battery charge level.

The Jump Starter 800A is designed for gasoline/diesel passenger cars and light trucks with good batteries that may need assistance due to lights left on, cold temperatures, or periods of inactivity. It provides up to 800 peak amps for jump starting and 250 amps starting current for multiple vehicles per charge. Recharge fully after multiple uses. The unit enters a 10-minute recovery mode after 4 attempted jumpstarts to prevent overheating.

The Jump Starter 800A is intended to jump start vehicles with batteries that are not completely discharged.

The Status LED on the jump start cable indicates the following conditions:

  3. Where do I look to see when my car is ready to jumpstart?

    Unplug the jumper cables for 30 seconds, check the Jump Starter's battery charge, and then reconnect.

Limited 1-Year Warranty

Cobra warrants this product against defects in materials and workmanship for one (1) year from the date of original purchase. Cobra may, at its discretion, repair or replace the product free of charge.

Shipping charges for returns are not covered by Cobra. Proof of purchase (invoice or receipt) is required for warranty claims, unless purchased directly from the factory.

Warranty Exclusions: The warranty does not cover serial number removal/modification, misuse, damage (water, physical abuse, improper installation), or unauthorized modifications. It also excludes products purchased from unauthorized resellers.

Limitation of Warranty: The product is acquired "AS IS" and "WHERE IS". Cobra disclaims all warranties, including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. Cobra is not liable for consequential, special, or incidental damages.

General Warranty Information: Cobra products generally come with a one to three (1-3) year warranty. Standard accessories have a one-year warranty. Shipping to Cobra's facility is not covered; return shipping within the US is included. This warranty is non-transferrable.
