Getting Started
- Identify the base plate (1), place the meter face down, and proceed as illustrated. [Diagram: Meter placed face down on a base plate].
- Follow the user manual for electrode preparation.
- Connect the pH electrode (2), temperature probe (3), and power adapter (4) to the rear panel of the meter. [Diagram: Rear panel showing connections for electrode (2), probe (3), and power adapter (4)].
- Connect the power plug and press the black ON/OFF power button (5). [Diagram: Meter with power button (5) indicated].
Note: Remove the transparent film that protects the capacitive touchscreen prior to operating the meter.

General Description
The HI6221 is Hanna Instruments' advanced pH and ORP meter with a large touchscreen display and streamlined design.

7-inch color display, 800 × 480 resolution. Multi-touch screen supports video playback and data plotting.

User profiles. Accessible logging control.
Select Operating Language
At first power on, the meter launches into a startup tutorial. By default, English is selected. Use the language window to select the operating language.
Touchscreen Navigation
- Back [Back icon]: Returns user to the previous hierarchical menu level; exits or escapes a function.
- Home [Home icon]: Accesses the measurement screen; exits or escapes a function.
- Menu [Menu icon]: Accesses Users, System Settings, Log Recall, Reports, and Help.
Basic Operations
General operating modes include setup, measurement, logging, and data sharing.
- Tap [Key icon] to access:
- User settings
- System settings
- Log recall files and file management (User can view a single sample or an interval log session).
- Reports for method-specific applications
- Help for text and video support
- Tap [Key icon] to return to measurement.
- Tap [Measurement Settings icon] to access sensor-related functions.
Log in & Create New Account
- Tap [Login icon] followed by [Account icon].
- Tap "Edit Users" to enter Account Management.
- Tap [Icon] to enable Account Creation and Logins. Tap [Icon] to return.
- Tap "Logout" to enter the Users screen. The "Admin" account is automatically created.
- Tap the plus symbol avatar [Add user icon].
- Input user name and tap [Icon].
- Enter password and tap [Icon]. Re-enter password to confirm.
Electrode Usage Guidelines
- Remove protective cap and rinse with water to eliminate salt build-up.
- Check correct electrolyte level. Refill when level falls below 1½" from the fill hole opening. Keep the fill hole open (1) during calibration and measurement.
- To refresh the electrode, soak in HI70300 Storage solution for at least 30 minutes.
- Keep the glass bulb (3) and junction (2) hydrated. Store with a few drops of storage solution in the protective cap.
- Keep the junction (2) immersed during calibration/measurement.
