Protect Your Hearing

Do not listen at high volumes for prolonged periods, as this can impair hearing. Be careful when placing your device near your ear while using the loudspeaker.

Emergency Calls

Important: Connections cannot be guaranteed in all circumstances. Never rely solely on a wireless phone for essential communications, such as medical emergencies.

Before making a call:

  • Switch on the phone.
  • If the phone's screen and keys are locked, unlock them.
  • Find a location with sufficient signal strength.

1. Press the end call key repeatedly until the home screen is displayed.

2. Enter the official emergency number for your location. Emergency call numbers vary by geographic location.

3. Press the call key [Call key icon].

4. Provide the necessary information as accurately as possible. Do not end the call until you have been authorized to do so.

  • Disable call restrictions on your phone, such as call barring, authorized numbers list, or limited user group.

Taking Care of Your Device

Handle your device, battery, charger, and accessories with care. The following suggestions help preserve your device's functionality.

  • Keep the device dry. Rain, humidity, and liquids contain minerals that can corrode electronic circuits.
  • Do not use or store your device in a dusty or dirty environment.
  • Do not store the device in high-temperature areas. High temperatures can damage the device or battery.
  • Do not store the device in low-temperature areas. When the device returns to normal temperature, moisture may form inside and damage it.
  • Do not open the device other than as instructed in the user guide.
  • You risk damaging the device and violating regulations concerning high-frequency transmission equipment if you make unauthorized modifications.
  • Do not drop, strike, or shake the device or battery. Rough handling may break it.
  • Use only a soft, clean, dry cloth to clean the device.
  • Do not paint the device. Paint may hinder the device's proper functioning.
  • Keep the device away from magnets or magnetic fields.
  • To keep your important data safe, back it up in at least two different locations, for example, on your device, a memory card, or a computer, or record important information.

During intensive use, the device may heat up. This is normal in most cases. To prevent overheating, the device may automatically slow down, close applications, disable charging, and, if necessary, switch off. If the device does not function correctly, take it to the nearest authorized service center.

Recycling

Always return your used electronic products, batteries, and packaging to dedicated collection points. This helps combat uncontrolled waste disposal and promotes material recycling. Electrical and electronic products contain many valuable materials, including metals (such as copper, aluminum, steel, and magnesium) and precious metals (such as gold, silver, and palladium). All materials in this device can be recycled as raw materials and energy.

Symbol of the crossed-out wheeled bin

[Recycling symbol] On your product, battery, documentation, or packaging, the symbol of the crossed-out wheeled bin reminds you that electrical and electronic products and batteries must be collected separately at the end of their life. Remember to delete personal data from the device first. Do not dispose of these products in unsorted household waste: recycle them. For more information on the nearest recycling point, contact your local waste authority or discover HMD's take-back program and its availability in your country at www.hmd.com/phones/support/topics/recycle.

Battery and Charger Information

Battery and charger information

To check if your phone has a removable or non-removable battery, consult the paper guide.

Devices with a removable battery

Use only your device with an authentic rechargeable battery. The battery can be charged and discharged hundreds of times, but it wears out over time. When talk time and standby time are significantly shorter than normal, replace the battery.

Devices with a non-removable battery

Do not attempt to remove the battery, as this could damage the device. The battery can be charged and discharged hundreds of times, but it wears out over time. When talk time and standby time are significantly shorter than normal, take the device to the nearest authorized service for battery replacement.

Charge your device with a compatible charger. The type of charger plug may vary. Charging times may vary depending on the device's capabilities.

Battery and charger safety information

Once your device is fully charged, disconnect the charger from the device and the electrical socket. Note that continuous charging should not exceed 12 hours. If left unused, a fully charged battery will gradually discharge.

Extreme temperatures reduce the battery's capacity and lifespan. To optimize performance, always keep the battery at a temperature between 15°C and 25°C (59°F and 77°F). A device using a hot or cold battery may not function temporarily. Note that the battery may discharge rapidly in cold weather and lose enough power to turn off the phone in minutes. When outdoors in cold weather, keep your phone warm.

Comply with local regulations. Recycle if possible. Do not dispose of them in household waste bins.

Do not expose the battery to extremely low air pressure or extremely high temperatures, such as by throwing it in a fire, as this could cause the battery to explode or leak flammable liquid or gas.

Do not disassemble, cut, crush, twist, puncture, or otherwise damage the battery. If a battery leaks, do not let the liquid come into contact with skin or eyes. If this happens, immediately rinse the affected areas with water or consult a doctor. Do not modify a battery or attempt to insert foreign objects into it. Do not immerse it in water or other liquids, or expose it to them. Batteries may explode if damaged.

Use the battery and charger only for their intended purpose. Improper use or the use of unapproved batteries or incompatible chargers may pose risks of fire, explosion, or other dangers, and may invalidate any approval or warranty applicable to the device. If you think the battery or charger is damaged, take it to a service center or your phone's retailer for examination before continuing to use it. Never use a damaged charger or battery. Use the charger indoors only. Do not charge your device during a thunderstorm. If the charger is not included in the sales package, charge your device using the data cable (included) and a USB power adapter (may be sold separately).

You can charge your device with third-party power cables and adapters that comply with USB 2.0 or later standards, as well as applicable national regulations and international and regional safety standards. Other adapters may not meet applicable safety standards, and their use for charging your device may pose a risk of property loss or injury.

To disconnect a charger or accessory, do not pull the cord; grasp the plug and pull.

The following guidelines also apply if your device has a removable battery:

  • Always switch off the device and disconnect the charger before removing covers or the battery.
  • Accidental short-circuiting may occur if a metallic object touches the battery's metal contacts. This may damage the battery or the other object.

Children

Your device and its accessories are not toys. They may contain small parts. Keep them out of reach of children.

Medical Devices

Radiofrequency transmitting equipment, including wireless phones, may interfere with the proper functioning of inadequately protected medical devices. Consult a doctor or the medical device manufacturer to determine if it is adequately protected from external radio energy.

Medical Implants

To avoid potential interference, manufacturers of implanted medical devices (such as cardiac pacemakers, insulin pumps, and neurostimulators) recommend maintaining a minimum distance of 15.3 centimeters between a wireless device and a medical device. People with such devices are recommended to:

  • Always ensure the wireless device is kept more than 15.3 centimeters away from the medical device.
  • Do not carry the wireless device in a breast pocket.
  • Place the wireless device on the ear opposite the medical device.
  • Switch off the wireless device if you suspect interference may occur.
  • Follow the instructions provided by the implant manufacturer.

If you have a medical implant and have questions about using your wireless device, consult your doctor.

Hearing

Attention: If you use a headset, you may not be able to hear external sounds correctly. Do not use headphones if it may compromise your safety.

Some wireless devices may interfere with the proper functioning of some hearing aids.

Protecting Your Device from Harmful Content

Your device may be exposed to viruses and other harmful content. Be cautious when opening messages. They may contain malware or harm your device.

Vehicles

Radio signals can affect poorly installed or inadequately protected electronic systems in vehicles. For more information, consult your vehicle's manufacturer or its equipment supplier. Only authorized personnel should install the device in a vehicle. Improper installation can be dangerous and void your warranty. Regularly check the installation and operation of your wireless transmitting equipment in your vehicle. Do not store or transport flammable or explosive materials in the same compartment as the device, its components, or accessories. Do not place your device or accessories in the airbag deployment zone.

Potentially Explosive Environments

Switch off your device in potentially explosive environments, such as near fuel pumps. Sparks can cause an explosion or fire, resulting in fatal injuries. Strictly observe usage restrictions in the presence of fuel, in chemical plants, or in areas where explosives are used. Areas with a potentially explosive environment are not always clearly marked. These are generally areas where it is advisable to switch off vehicle engines, parts below boat decks, facilities for transferring or storing chemicals, and areas where the air contains chemicals or particles. Check with manufacturers of vehicles using liquefied petroleum gas (such as propane or butane) to see if the device can be used safely near them.

Information Relating to Certification

Exposure to electromagnetic fields

Ministerial Decree of November 15, 2019 (This section applies only to France.) All Nokia products comply with international and, where applicable, national standards and regulations aimed at limiting user exposure to electromagnetic fields. These standards and regulations were adopted after extensive scientific research. This research has established no link between device use and any adverse health effects if the device is used in accordance with applicable standards and regulations. If you have doubts about exposure to handsets operating in compliance with these standards or directives, in accordance with French regulatory requirements, we are required to include the following precautionary statement in this User Guide: you can limit high-frequency exposure (a) by using the device in good reception conditions as indicated by the connection icon on your device screen (to reduce radiation, especially in underground parking lots, during train or car travel, etc.), b) by ensuring reasonable use of radio equipment by children and adolescents, for example by avoiding nocturnal communications and limiting the frequency and duration of calls, or (c) by using a hands-free kit to keep the device away from your head and body, and especially the abdomen for pregnant women and the lower abdomen for adolescents.
