Overview

This section provides a general overview of key components on your Lenovo IdeaPad laptop.

Key Components:

  • 1. Camera: Located above the display, used for video calls and other camera-dependent functions.
  • 2. Array microphones: Situated near the camera, these microphones capture audio for calls and voice commands.
  • 3. Touchpad: The multi-touch enabled surface below the keyboard, used for cursor control and gestures.

Ports and Connectors

Your Lenovo IdeaPad laptop is equipped with various ports for connectivity and power. The specific ports may vary slightly by model.

Audio and Power

  • Combo audio jack: [Headset Connector] A single port for connecting a headset with both audio output and microphone input.
  • Power button: [Power Button] Used to turn the laptop on, off, or put it into sleep mode.
  • Power connector: [Power Plug Icon] The port for connecting the AC power adapter (either rectangular or USB-C, depending on your model) to charge the device or provide power.

USB Ports

  • USB Standard-A connector: [Standard USB-A Port] Standard USB ports for connecting peripherals like mice, keyboards, external drives, and other USB devices.
  • USB Standard-A connector (always-on): [Always-On USB-A Port] This USB-A port can supply power to connected devices even when the laptop is turned off or in sleep mode, useful for charging phones or other accessories.
  • Multi-purpose USB Type-C connector: [USB Type-C Port] A versatile port supporting high-speed data transfer, power delivery (charging the laptop), and display output (connecting to external monitors).

Other Ports

  • SD card slot: [SD Card Slot] Allows you to insert and read SD memory cards.
  • HDMI™ connector: [HDMI Port] For connecting your laptop to external displays, projectors, or TVs for video output.
  • Novo button hole: [Novo Button Pinhole] A small pinhole button, typically used to access system recovery or BIOS settings by pressing it with a paperclip when the device is off.

Presence Detection

This feature enhances security and power management by detecting user presence.

How it works:

  • Security Lock/Unlock: When you approach the laptop, it may unlock automatically. When you walk away, it locks the screen to protect your data. The diagram shows a person approaching, the laptop locked [?], and then sitting down, the laptop unlocked.
  • Media Playback Control: The system can pause media playback when you step away and resume when you return. The diagram shows a person approaching, media playing [▶️], and then returning, media resumes. When the person leaves, media pauses [⏸️].

These functions help conserve power and keep your device secure when not in active use.
