Product Overview
The Nylex Digital Tap Timer is designed for automatic garden watering. It connects directly to your garden tap and allows you to set watering schedules.
Key Components:
- Tap Connection: Connects to the garden faucet.
- LCD Screen: Displays time, settings, and status.
- Hose Connection: Connects to your garden hose.
- Filter: Prevents debris from entering the timer.
- Dial: Used to navigate and customize settings.
- Buttons:
- SET CLOCK: For setting the current time.
- START TIME: For selecting the desired watering start time.
- HOW LONG: For setting the watering duration.
- HOW OFTEN: For setting the watering frequency.
- ON/OFF: Controls the timer's operational state.
- DELAY/+ Button: Used to adjust settings or activate rain delay.
- OK/Manual Button: Used to confirm settings or initiate manual watering.
- '-' Button: Used to decrease settings.

Product Installation
Follow these steps to install the Nylex Digital Tap Timer:
- Turn off the tap.
- Screw the timer onto the garden faucet. Ensure the display is as vertical as possible to prevent rainwater from accumulating and leaking into the interior.
- Connect your garden hose to the adapter outlet on the bottom of the unit.
- Turn on the tap after programming the timer.
Tip: If the connection between the timer and the tap is leaking or not tight enough, apply Teflon tape (thread seal tape) to the threads to ensure a secure fit.
Activate the Timer Before Use
Please activate the timer before first-time use, or after a period of inactivity.
The process involves running manual watering five times to ensure the valve is functioning correctly.
- Keep the tap turned off.
- Turn the timer dial to "ON".
- Press and hold the "OK" button for 3-5 seconds to enter manual watering mode.
- When the screen flashes, press the "OK" button to run manual watering.
- After hearing the "Click" sound or waiting for about 5 seconds, the valve in the timer is opened. Then, turn the dial to "OFF" to close the valve.
- Repeat steps 2-5, five times.
- To ensure the dial is activated correctly, turn on the tap and repeat steps 2-5 to confirm that the water flows and shuts off as expected.
Programming Your Timer
Follow these steps to set up your watering schedule:
STEP 1: Set Clock
1. Turn the dial to "SET CLOCK".
2. Use the "+" and "-" buttons to select between 24-hour or 12-hour clock format. Click "OK" to confirm.
3. Use the "+" and "-" buttons to change the Hour. Press "OK" to confirm.
4. Use the "+" and "-" buttons to change the Minutes. Turn the dial to "START TIME" to begin Step 2.
STEP 2: Start Time
1. Use the "+" and "-" buttons to set the desired hour for the schedule to start. Click "OK" to confirm.
2. Use the "+" and "-" buttons to change the minutes. Turn the dial to "HOW LONG" to begin Step 3.
STEP 3: How Long (Water Duration)
1. To set the duration of watering (range: 1 minute to 3 hours 59 minutes), set the hour using the "+" and "-" buttons and click "OK" to confirm.
2. Use the "+" and "-" buttons to set the minutes. Turn the dial to "HOW OFTEN" to begin Step 4.
STEP 4: How Often (Water Frequency)
1. The watering frequency can be set to water from every 1 hour to 12 hours, or from every 1 to 7 days, at your set time.
2. Use the "+" and "-" buttons to select your desired schedule and turn the dial to "ON" to finish setting up the timer.
STEP 5: Automatic Watering
1. With the dial in the "ON" position, the timer will water as scheduled.
2. The LCD screen will display the current time and the next scheduled watering time.
Examples of Watering Frequency:
Every Day: Watering occurs daily.
Every 2 Days: Watering occurs every second day (e.g., Monday, Wednesday, Friday).
Every 3 Days: Watering occurs every third day (e.g., Monday, Thursday).
Additional Functions
Manual / Hand Watering
Manual watering allows you to water a zone immediately, without interrupting your set watering schedule. To access this feature:
- Turn the dial to the "ON" position.
- Press and hold the "OK" button for 3-5 seconds until the manual icon appears on screen.
- Use the "+" and "-" buttons to adjust the watering time (range: 1 minute to 8 hours).
- Confirm by pressing "OK" to start manual watering. The screen will display an indicator that manual watering has started.
Rain Delay
Rain delay allows you to postpone watering for a set period, and it will not interrupt your set schedule. To access rain delay:
- With the dial set to "ON", press the "DELAY" button for 3-5 seconds to start the delay watering function.
- The screen will show a delay period, defaulting to "24H". You can press the "+" and "-" buttons to choose the delay period from 24H, 48H, or 72H.
- Press the "OK" button to confirm the delay time. All watering plans will be skipped during this period.
- To remove rain delay, hold the "DELAY" button for 3-5 seconds again to resume your programmed watering schedule.
OFF Mode
Watering schedules will run as planned unless the timer is switched off. To action this:
- Turn the dial to the "OFF" position. The screen will display "OFF".
- To start watering automatically again, return the dial to the "ON" position to resume the programmed schedule.
Cleaning Your Timer
The unit should be cleaned regularly to ensure proper operation and avoid blockages built up from impurities and/or dirt over time.
- Turn off the tap and unscrew the timer. Check the filter for any impurities and/or dirt.
- If cleaning is required, lift the filter seal from the timer and rinse it with running water.
- To check if the pipe of the timer is blocked, open the valve by pressing "OK" for 3-5 seconds to enter manual watering mode. Press "OK" to confirm.
- If it is blocked, use a small cleaning brush to clean it.
- Install the filter seal back into the timer cone side up. Ensure the seal is properly fitted and flush to the unit.
- Screw the timer back onto the tap and resume normal operation.
Troubleshooting
Problem | Possible Cause | Possible Solution |

Battery Information
Installing the Batteries
- Remove the battery compartment cover on the back of the timer.
- Insert 2 new AA (1.5V) alkaline batteries (not included).
- Insert the battery compartment back into the timer and press firmly to ensure it is completely sealed and waterproof.
Note:
- When the timer is not used for a long time, please remove the batteries as battery leakage can cause corrosion and damage the unit.
- Replace batteries when the low battery indicator appears on display and dispose of them properly.
- To ensure a longer lifespan, please use 2 new AA Alkaline batteries (not included). It is not recommended to mix new and old batteries or use standard (carbon-zinc), or rechargeable batteries.
Battery Status: Battery status will be displayed as following:

Replacing Your Batteries:
It is important to replace batteries before they are fully depleted to avoid losing your timer settings. The timer has an inbuilt memory that retains schedule settings for up to 60 seconds without power. If batteries are not replaced within this timeframe, all settings will reset.

Warranty
AMES Australasia Pty Ltd (AMES) guarantees that this product will be free from defects in workmanship and materials for 2 years from the date of purchase. If such a defect becomes evident during that period, AMES will, at its option, either repair, replace, or refund the product.
In the event of such a defect, the product should be returned to the place of purchase (together with proof of purchase and the original packaging) to the address below. Any handling and transportation costs (and other expenses incurred in claiming under this guarantee) are not covered by this guarantee and will not be borne by AMES.
The obligation of AMES under this guarantee is limited to the circumstances set out above and is subject to:
- The customer being able to evidence the acquisition of the product, the purchase price paid for the product, and the relevant defect in materials or workmanship.
- The product not having been altered, tampered with, or otherwise dealt with by any person in a manner other than as intended in respect of the relevant product.
- The product not having been used or applied in a manner that is contrary to customary usage or application for the relevant product or contrary to any stated instructions or specifications of AMES.
In addition to other rights and remedies that may be available under law, AMES' goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law (for consumers in Australia) and the Consumer Guarantees Act (for consumers in NZ).
If you are a consumer in Australia, you are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.
If you are a consumer in New Zealand, AMES will comply with its obligations to you under the Consumer Guarantees Act.
